@HuskyRides, it does look a bit "naff" doesn't it!😆 You're right. Some things on the R9T are done really well, like the build quality of the original 2013 aluminium tank. Then it's let down with plastic bits where there should be steel components. Still she's a beautiful bike.🤩 Im glad you enjoyed the video @HuskyRides, thanks for the feedback.😀
Hello, really enjoy your videos, thank you for sharing. Hopefully not a random question, but with your experience in tearing down and reassembling the R nineT's do you know how to remove the Starter Motor cover? I have a ilmberger carbon fibre replacement but it is not clear how to remove the plastic oem cover and I do not want to break it. I've not been able to find any steps or guides online. My nineT is a 2022 model. Appreciate any guidance you can provide.
Hey @adamtiberi, my apologies for my late reply. I've been on holiday. I'm guessing you have already solved the problem. If not, let me know and I'll send you the steps.😀✊️👊👍
Hi @adamtiberi, First a disclaimer, I am familiar with Ilmberger, but not at all familiar with the Ilmberger starter motor cover, although I have looked it up after you mentioned it. Very nice indeed.😀 That said here are the the basic steps as follows. If after reading them you don't feel comfortable proceeding, then you are best to ask someone locally , maybe at a local motorcycle club to give you a hand. But once you are ready, here are the steps to replace your Starter Motor Cover..... Since the Starter motor is located between a few other components on the lower left-hand side, you need to disconnect (but not completely remove) a few things. Take some photos before you release these other components, then you'll know how to reinstall them along with the new cover. 1. Remove the seat 2. Remove the seat bracket cap so you can disconnect the positive remote battery lead (wrap it up in a rag to isolate it) 3. Detach the exhaust flow control valve servo (that,s the black box directly behind the starter motor). You can leave the cables attached. You only need to detach this so that you have room to pull out the Start Motor cover. 4. Remove the solenoid terminal, unscrew the nut, remove the spring and washer, then detach the lead. 5. Disconnect the wiring connector 6. Release and remove the starter motor cover, when doing this take a look how the "pegs" locate into the grommets. At this stage you can now reverse the above process, but install the NEW cover. 😀 As I mentioned, Im not familiar with the Ilmberger cover, but assuming it is like-for-like to that of the OEM, these steps should work. I hope this helps or at least gets you heading in the right direction. Thanks again for the question 😃👊✊️👍
@@outtheresomewhere thank you so much for the detailed response. I replaced the OEM headers with the Akrapovic system and I removing the OEM pipe I also removed the exhaust valve servo and replaced it with a servo buddy. So I assume that means I can skip Step 3? I’ll let you know how I go. Thanks again!
@Adamtiberi yes you can skip step 3 when you have a servo buddy as the buddy is nicely out of the way. It sounds like you're really cleaning up the styling. NICE !!😀
Hey there @swissmotorbikerent , that is rather unusual for such a new bike. Fortunitely it will be covered by your factory warranty. But still rather disappointing. Thanks for sharing and all the best with getting it resolved. Hopefully just a simple gasket replacement. 👊✊️👍
That fuel reserve level resistor on that plug sure looks like an afterthought by BMW.. Macgyver would be proud. Great video tutorial !

@@outtheresomewhere no problems at all. I’ve not solved it so appreciate if you can send through the steps. Thank you so much for the response.

My r9t 23bike is leaking oil from the right side of the Engine
