I caught sight of my reflection I caught it in the window I saw the darkness in my heart I saw the signs of my undoing They had been there from the start And the darkness still has work to do The knotted chord's untying The heated and the holy Oh they're sitting there on high So secure, with everything they're buying In the blood of Eden Lie the woman and the man With the man in the woman And the woman in the man In the blood of Eden Lie the woman and the man We wanted the union Oh the union of the woman The woman and the man My grip is surely slipping I think I've lost my hold Yes I think I've lost my hold I cannot get insurance anymore They don't take credit, only gold Is that a dagger or a crucifix I see? You hold so tightly in your hand And all the while, the distance grows between you and me I do not understand In the blood of Eden Lie the woman and the man With the man in the woman And the woman in the man In the blood of Eden Lie the woman and the man We wanted the union Oh the union of the woman The woman and the man At my request you take me in In that tenderness, I am floating away No certainty, nothing to rely on Holding still for a moment What a moment this is A moment of forgetting A moment of bliss, oh I can hear the distant thunder Of a million unheard souls Of a million unheard souls Watch each one reach for creature comfort For the filling of their holes In the blood of Eden Lie the woman and the man With the man in the woman And the woman in the man In the blood of Eden Lie the woman and the man We wanted the union of the woman and the man Blood of Eden comes running through me Running through my veins Blood of Eden comes rushing through me 'Til I'm sure that there's none that remains Blood of Eden comes running through me Running through my veins Blood of Eden comes rushing through me 'Til I'm sure that there's none that remains In the blood of Eden We have done everything we can In the blood of Eden So we end as we bagan With the man in the woman And the woman in the man It was all for the union Oh the union of the woman The woman and the man Oh, thank you I was gonna guess that but- And it's gonna be waiting in the album a little longer Because this one is actually called Red Rain
What a thoroughly gorgeous song and video. I hadn't seen this video until now, it's so beautiful. RIP Sinéad. I hope you have found the peace you so strongly deserve.
This beautiful song is a very good example of how Peter Gabriel was able to integrate African polyrhythms and choral arrangements into a wholly original and immensely appealing creation.
Peter is the master of video arts and song composing in a highend audio quality. His thoughts, feelings and messages are living in his songs. perfomances and videos . Thank you so much over a lot of years . Stay yourself ...
What a masterpiece! And these two magical souls, together! What if? One wonders, but one shouldn't. Sinèad, dearest, love didn't save you, after all! 😢 May you now and for ever rest in the peace of the good ❤
I just can't stop playing this wonderful song, Peter gabriel is just one of the greatest singers of all time for me, and Sinead O'Connor is just perfect
Where is this music? Why are we bombarded with the garbage on the radio today!! Its back to the record strores for me and CD and albums before they all disappear. There is only one record store that I know of in my area.😮
This is one of my go to songs for comfort, been listening to this for a while and hearing this sad news yesterday of this poor woman whos suffered a whole lot in her life, now finally at peace if theres any consolation from this nightmare of a world it can be. RIP 🙏 😢
I don't think I'll ever forget this song as long as I am alive, heard it when I was young and it is still the very same song I run to today when I want to calm my spirit. ❤
She called out the wrong she knew of in the Catholic Church long before it was excepted & her pass abuse lead to a lifetime of mental health issues. And as far as I can imagine her beauty along with her talent carried her through these storms. Thanking u & may God REST YOUR BEAUTIFUL SOUL!! 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽
This living poem - full of life and meaning.... I know that it is supposed to be about a divorce. I didn't hear it that way. I reflected that my life has been blessed with the company of a beautiful and wonderful woman - for over 34 years now. Yet, as our bodies began to decline and age... it is the Blood of Eden that we got to live in... and that is the meaning of it all. The touching of eternity as our lives wind down... the promise, the blessing and the wonder shall carry on. What a ride! Thank you Mr. Gabriel for this living poem... that reminds me of my ever gratitude.
Will Olson It’s about divorce, but I think it’s also about marriage. That’s what I live so much about Peter’s lyrics. They have so many beautiful layers to them! Congrats to you for such a long marriage! :) May you continue to be blessed.

Sometimes you fail to appreciate something until it has gone. Siènad was so beautiful captivating eyes and a voice from heaven. We were blessed. I hope she is at peace now 😢
I was also 19 in 1993. I had forgotten about this hauntingly beautiful song until Sinead’s passing prompted me to search out her music again. Rediscovering this song was like finding a long lost friend. RIP wonderful Sinéad, you will always be a hero to me ❤
I'd never seen this video before today, and Peter Gabriel is amazing, but I've always, always loved Sinéad. So talented, so beautiful, so honest, so brave. We lost you just recently... may your soul rest in peace.
Peter Gabriel was one of the few concerts I saw in the 90s - totally transfixed by him. I honestly didn't know he and Sinead had a relationship until recently and I'm saddened she felt he did not take it seriously. I just love her and she had an unbelievable trust and heart. Still gutted she is gone😢
We lost a beautiful and brave soul. We probably never deserved her presence anyway. She`s in a better place now, reunited with her beloved son. Thank you, Sinead! You were a rare and beautiful flower set to grow in the deepest mud. R.I.P., darling friend.
One of the most beautiful slow songs ever written and sung. To me, Sinead was one of the most beautiful looking women and best female singers on the planet when she started out as a singer. Her poor soul was plaqued by her own inner demons throughout her life. Then her son passed away. She endured a lot. Hope she is at peace now and is making the same with Prince in heaven. Rest well, Sinead. Never to be forgotten.
The pastor at our wedding 25 years ago refused to let us play this song at the altar walking up to our wedding candle to light it together. The song was played at our wedding reception but it was not the same, not even close. My husband died 3 years ago in a botched up surgery. My heart has a permanent tear down the middle. I will never be the same until I am reunited with my other soul. Crying on and off for ever.

I caught sight of my reflection
I caught it in the window
I saw the darkness in my heart
I saw the signs of my undoing
They had been there from the start
And the darkness still has work to do
The knotted chord's untying
The heated and the holy
Oh they're sitting there on high
So secure, with everything they're buying
In the blood of Eden
Lie the woman and the man
With the man in the woman
And the woman in the man
In the blood of Eden
Lie the woman and the man
We wanted the union
Oh the union of the woman
The woman and the man
My grip is surely slipping
I think I've lost my hold
Yes I think I've lost my hold
I cannot get insurance anymore
They don't take credit, only gold
Is that a dagger or a crucifix I see?
You hold so tightly in your hand
And all the while, the distance grows between you and me
I do not understand
In the blood of Eden
Lie the woman and the man
With the man in the woman
And the woman in the man
In the blood of Eden
Lie the woman and the man
We wanted the union
Oh the union of the woman
The woman and the man
At my request you take me in
In that tenderness, I am floating away
No certainty, nothing to rely on
Holding still for a moment
What a moment this is
A moment of forgetting
A moment of bliss, oh
I can hear the distant thunder
Of a million unheard souls
Of a million unheard souls
Watch each one reach for creature comfort
For the filling of their holes
In the blood of Eden
Lie the woman and the man
With the man in the woman
And the woman in the man
In the blood of Eden
Lie the woman and the man
We wanted the union of the woman and the man
Blood of Eden comes running through me
Running through my veins
Blood of Eden comes rushing through me
'Til I'm sure that there's none that remains
Blood of Eden comes running through me
Running through my veins
Blood of Eden comes rushing through me
'Til I'm sure that there's none that remains
In the blood of Eden
We have done everything we can
In the blood of Eden
So we end as we bagan
With the man in the woman
And the woman in the man
It was all for the union
Oh the union of the woman
The woman and the man
Oh, thank you
I was gonna guess that but-
And it's gonna be waiting in the album a little longer
Because this one is actually called Red Rain
Gracias ❤
Superb
Magnifque ❤ RIP 🙏 🕊
Thank you for this.🙏❤️
Oh merci. maintenant je vais pouvoir pleurer dans mon coin, avec la traduction.🖤
Such a beautiful escape from the reality of self quarantine during these dark days!
Such a touching lyrics, mixing daily with spiritual, a real comort in these days.

One of the improbably beautiful songs on this album. The highest quality in songs and music that touch your soul. 😎

This was our first dance song at our wedding, 23 years ago - today, loved it then and now

Lovely choice.
What a true artist this man is! I Love his work.
RIP, Sinead. Such a beautiful voice and so beautiful.
How great is this duet. Another great singer and songwriter gone but will never be forgotten. R.I.P Sinead you'll be missed forever ❤❤❤
I love them both! The spirituality I’ve felt listening to their songs still gives me chills ♥️
Ich find es schon traurig das von ihr wenig gesendet wird.Sie hat schließlich Millionen von Nenschen glücklich gemacht.
Such a beautiful song & video - can’t believe this is the first time I’m seeing it. Thank you Peter & RIP sweet Sinéad ❧
Same... never seen this video... or even know the song
I heard it when the album came out, did not know it was Sinead. She was just angelic
Peter Gabriel Is An Icon.
Beautiful Angelic Voice Sinead O'Connor ✨💖..
Rest In Peace Beautiful Soul x
Peter is the master of video arts and song composing in a highend audio quality. His thoughts, feelings and messages are living in his songs. perfomances and videos . Thank you so much over a lot of years . Stay yourself ...
What a masterpiece! And these two magical souls, together! What if? One wonders, but one shouldn't. Sinèad, dearest, love didn't save you, after all! 😢 May you now and for ever rest in the peace of the good ❤
Welcome in 2023 for sad reason.
R.I.P. Sinead
This is the first song on my "Favorite songs" CD I made in the 90s. 30 years later, it's still one of my very favorites. Beautiful song.
What else is on list?
I just can't stop playing this wonderful song, Peter gabriel is just one of the greatest singers of all time for me, and Sinead O'Connor is just perfect
The pain of loosing someone you really cherish. I was a small boy now I'm an old lad still listening to this.
Where is this music? Why are we bombarded with the garbage on the radio today!! Its back to the record strores for me and CD and albums before they all disappear. There is only one record store that I know of in my area.😮
Yeah its pretty dismal
🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽
What happened exactly? :)
Gabriel for this living poem... that reminds me of my ever gratitude.

you write like you have some poet in you too, be blessed
Will Olson It’s about divorce, but I think it’s also about marriage. That’s what I live so much about Peter’s lyrics. They have so many beautiful layers to them! Congrats to you for such a long marriage! :) May you continue to be blessed.
You should *write* for a living; or at least as a hobby.
You express your thoughts really well Mr. Olson *;0*
beautiful words friend that GOD continues to bless your home
Thank you Peter Gabriel for your collaborations. I'm just discovering this video with Sinead's passing.
This sing is too much. I heard/saw it four years ago after my Mother passed away. I know she would've loved it, because she loved Don't Give Up so much. Deep stuff. Magic. ❄️ RIP Beautiful Eyed Sinead, a True Artist. 🎨🖌️ 💗 🇦🇺
Sometimes you fail to appreciate something until it has gone. Siènad was so beautiful captivating eyes and a voice from heaven. We were blessed. I hope she is at peace now 😢
She would have been around 25-26 years old here.
Peter Gabriel IS a musical poet....a magician, a legend.
Haunting. Takes me back to being 19 years old, 1993. Big relationship memories. Haven't heard this in decades. Soulful and so evocative.
I was also 19 in 1993. I had forgotten about this hauntingly beautiful song until Sinead’s passing prompted me to search out her music again. Rediscovering this song was like finding a long lost friend. RIP wonderful Sinéad, you will always be a hero to me ❤
Angelic voice…..powerful spirit who wasn’t listened to…..now a spirit free ❤
For me, this is a true love song/story. When Peter leaves this Earth I will weep. Those on the other side will be blessed with his muse.
His energy will be with us still.
Sinéad's voice is surnatural! Hauntingly beautiful! :)
I'd never seen this video before today, and Peter Gabriel is amazing, but I've always, always loved Sinéad. So talented, so beautiful, so honest, so brave. We lost you just recently... may your soul rest in peace.
musical genius... the bringing together of two beautiful voices, a man & a woman forever peaceful in the arms of the Lord
She wrote "Thank you for hearing me" about/to him.
It was sad that later she trashed the relationship the way she did.
What happened between them? I had no idea
@@nealm6764 He made no statement about her passing.
@@cathholland4789 They had a romance around this time, she had her heart broken
@@loosiluthat’s not actually true! He did make a statement about her passing the day after she passed!
All my respect, affection and sensibility 🙌 ❤️🕊⚘️
Thank you 💗😇💗 🙇♀️
Thanks Peter, Thanks Sinead, for one of the most beautiful song ever.
the perfect combination of voices. just beautiful. RIP sinead
We lost a beautiful and brave soul.
We probably never deserved her presence anyway.
She`s in a better place now, reunited with her beloved son.
Thank you, Sinead!
You were a rare and beautiful flower set to grow in the deepest mud.
R.I.P., darling friend.
Incredible this song with these beautiful voices of Peter and Sinead. ❤
Hermosas declaraciones 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Wow! Her I am 66 years old and still getting my socks blown off! BRAVO!

That really is kinda beautiful!

This brought tears to my eyes. Ah, when music videos were an art form.
I’m happy that Sinead had sung on one of the most beautiful songs in the universe. Rest in peace beautiful angel. This cruel world losts once again one of the most beautiful souls we’ve ever known. 🙏
How well does Sinead's voice go with Peter's and this song... her voice is divine. And what a beautiful song!
A one of a kind collaboration...just goes hand in hand
I have been listening to this, since 1992...
