      mine too...I'm surprised how often I see beets at the grocery without the greens attached...the greens can look pretty shabby pretty quick, though, so I guess they cut them away when that happens--plus beets probably don't ship as well with the greens attached

    I had never eaten beet greens before, but heard of it. So I picked some fresh beets from the garden and jumped online to see how to do beet greens. This was amazing!! So easy. My steamed beets and beet greens made an amazing meal. Thanks for such a quick, fun, delicious and easy recipe!! I skipped the egg - not hipster enough I guess. lol

      my body definitely needs more greens...but there's a coffee shop a few minutes walk away that has very tasty donuts, so I haven't been making the best oldster decisions since we got here

    Excellent! Balsamic vinegar at the end is fantastic.
    Up here in Alaska, I pick 1 beet plant from the garden and have this beet greens recipe with grilled salmon and grilled beet slices.

      the greens with beans and an egg makes for a quick meal that sorta looks fancy...I added quite a bit of seasoning to the beans, so the meal had a nice zing

    My dad grew beets in his garden and I would prepare the beets, however...and steam the greens. Usually with salt/pepper/vinegar/pepper flakes. Don't sneeze at the beet greens, they are delicate, like spinach, but so delicious! Thanks for the video, Buck.

      the comparison to spinach is a good one...beet greens are super tender, and the stems add a nice contrast

    I've been gardening and I get a lot of beats.
    Interetstingly I've come up with a very similary recipie. I also added a hot chili pepper and some ginger. I never tried the vinegar but perhaps I will next time.
    I love your whole egg concept. I think I will try something like this as a breakfast.

    🤤🤤I LOVE BEET GREENS😁! I love Beets too! After cleaning my beets, I rub oil on them, season lightly, wrap them individually in foil, put them in baking dish filled with lil water, and cook until I can stick a knife through 'em🤤😁 I'm giving you an A+ for this video😃🥰!

      thanks...we'll end up roasting the beet bulbs in the oven with some other veggies...we do the oil rub and seasoning as well...I think we got some turnips to roast with them this time

      well I've sure enjoyed reading your super kind comments over the years, and we really appreciate you watching all of our vids (I know we've got a few clunkers!). You don't like beets? The greens are a lot different than the bulbs taste wise. My mama makes a very tasty beet cake--sorta like a carrot cake--which is a very non-beet beet recipe. And next Saturday is already Christmas? The year always steamrolls to an end! I hope you have a great holiday!

    I have a favourite Kale recipe which involves mucho chopping, washing, separating stalks etc, and boiling hard. Once drained after cooking, the secret is to ensure that all the Kale, every last bit, goes in the trash. You can improve the appeal of any meal by not serving Kale. You mentioned Kale.

      beet greens sure cook up easy, it's hard not to cook them up (the cleaning can be a little time consuming, though...the beets I used in this video were pretty dirty)

    Yum, I love beets and beet greens and I will have to try it with the beans and an egg! I use balsamic vinegar, it is another flavor profile everyone should try. Love your videos.     Recently started eating radish greens. Good for kimchi or just sauteed. They must be used right away though

      I haven't used radish greens...radishes are CG's thing...she slices them thin and puts them into our salads on occasion although a radish isn't a veggie that's on my radar (although all veggies should be on my radar nowadays--and less donuts)

    Right on time, saved my greens, which I wanted to cook but didn't have recipes, from the compost. Thoughts on radish greens?

      I've never used radish greens...CG buys radishes on occasion to slice into a salad, but I've never given the radish much attention...should I? do you use them?

      Radish dishes are lovely. Cook them like you would potatoes in a stew or with a chuck roast. Also saute them in some butter. Yummy.

    Bought beets 3 days ago. The attached greens were very pathetic😩couldn’t use them they were so bad. Hate throwing them out! But sometimes they don’t survive the handling in the produce department 😔looks like a nice house sit👍 thanks for another great video!

      yep, the greens get sad-looking pretty quick...I always say I'm surprised that the groceries sell beets without the greens, but I guess they have to since the beet greens have such a narrow window where they look appealing

    I love beet leaves but hard to find good ones at the standard markets. I laughed when you said hipsters will pay high prices if you throw an egg on it. I live in a tourist town and that is so true.

      no we don't charge for house sitting...we use a website called Trustedhousesitters... it's more of an "exchange of services" between the homeowners and the sitters, and it usually involves caring for pets while the homeowners are traveling

    Hahahaha! This took me back in time over 50 years ago to when my future father in law was telling the story of eating beets the first time after his colostomy! I won't go into detail, but suffice to say that when he called his doctor with his freakout, the first question the doctor asked him was: "Did you eat some beets?" Then he was fine. 😆😂🤣
