    That's the way to get things done!
    I sometimes came accross beets which tasted muddy even after soaking and brushing.
    So I cut away the entire root area as well as the "spike" part.
    Finding the cutting line by observing the color and texture!
    Now I don't get the muddy taste or smell. Only beets in good condition should be used.
    Thanks for the video!

    Thank you for the info about steaming your beets. I've always boiled them to death. Actually, I didn't think steaming the whole beet would work and actually cook it all the way through. Forgot I purchased a pot steamer many, many years ago. Never used it. Just found it--still in the store box--in my attic so I'm going to steam my beets instead from now on because, as you said, I don't want to boil away all that good nutrition. God bless and thanks again!

      @@wandamajette5000 Wanda, this is a good question. This point is highly debated. I personally don't think you are, and by heating certain things you can actually gain more nutrients. I would be very interested to know how you cook/prepare the beetroot stalks and leaves, which look very tasty.

    Ashley, what's the different outcome if you stram the beets in water like you do, or just put them in foil, roasted at 400 degrees, in the oven? Is the oven cooked ones dryer vs steaming them, or what? THUMBS UP!!! What a great channel inspiring both me and wife.

    • @BecomeInspired

      Just a bit of a different flavor and texture profile! I like keeping my beets juicy, but I don't want to have the nutrients spill out into the water if I submerge them.
      Really happy you had fun here!

    Hi Ashley! Was wondering what the powder was that you called red pepper ?is it the same as cayenne pepper?

    • @BecomeInspired
      @BecomeInspired  4 місяці тому

      Yes it is, but it's a blend of cayenne and some other red peppers, crushed and dried.
