I'm actually surprised how much it's easy to process these. I'm an Indian and I have troubles on pronouncing r's. Because Indians say r's so roughly! Now, my r's were fixed! Thank you so much!
make sure you work on those v/w and j/z sounds. Indians always have a rough time differentiating those letters apart but native speakers can tell a clear difference.
So I’m Greek and trying to learn English wasn’t very hard. The trickiest thing for me was to pronounce the letters R and L properly because they are so phonetically different than the Greek ones. This video was very helpful. Thnx 😊
Your pace when you are speaking is amazing, because along the sentences you keep the accent. Even when you slow it (rate of speed) in order to show up how the words must be pronounced. You are the best. Simply the best. (I am a spanish speaker).
Am working with a Mexican student (gratis) from an incredibly poor family, i.e. no running water and at 20 has never been to a dentist. In spite of the hardship, she is a dedicated veterinary student with a small scholarship. Your series is a huge help to us. Great job and thanks!

I have a friend that has trouble pronouncing the word WORK....every time she says it sounds like WALK distinctively...... any suggestions on how I can her her pronounce WORK properly? I think its the R after the Vowel in WORK? Thanks.
Depending on your friend's native language, it might be the ER sound that giver her trouble. This lesson can help here: ua-cam.com/video/eRoL9YJa0lQ/v-deo.html Also, a lot of people get confused because of the letter O in this word. Even though there's an O, there's no O+ER sound. Yes- I am not sure your native language but many of my students produce the R as more of a "throaty" sound when in American English the sound is more forward in placement. It resonates, or "lives" more under the nose than in the throat. Make sure the muscles of your neck, throat and shoulders are relaxed and think the sound "forward." Aim it "up and out" vs. "back and down."
Permit me to make the following remark: As a native Russian speaker, I can testify to the fact that one can totally hold out a rolled R. Thank you so much for your videos, they're helpful!
Hi Keenyn, I am an educator of more than 30 years in American universities. I just watched your "R" 3- part videos and I found them useful immensely. I am very interested in reducing my accent and I believe watching your videos will help a lot. I need to know which area I should be focusing more rather than taking a wide brush approach. I was thinking of recording say one minute of my speech and have someone troubleshoot it to identify the obvious errors that I make in my speech. Do you have any advice? Thank you. Sam
I've always found that interesting, as an American I've found that the l and r are opposites. L is produced at the front of the mouth with the tongue sticking forward, where R is produced at the very back, almost in the throat. I also speak Italian, and they pronounce their r's with the tip of the tongue towards the ridge of their mouth, creating an L-like sound in the process.
English isn't my native language, so when I was trying to say "murderer" (don't judge pls 😂) it sounded like "murwderwewr" so that's why I am watching this video lol.
As a midwestern American, I basically sound like the most proper of all boring American English speakers, so the idea of having problems making the "r" sound is crazy. I have struggled to make Punjabi and Swahili sounds though, so I guess I understand. Keep working and you'll get it! You don't need to say "L" forever!
Hello Keenyn. I love to listen and watch your pronunciation videos which are amazing and worthy enough to follow. I can only pronounce my R’s as a L, so it sounds like “led” not “red”
The American R is actually closer to a V (not necessarily in sound but mouth positioning.) If you practice saying VRVRVR it will probably help you.
