Hi Lloyd, thank you for posting. When my son and myself were heading to Seattle we got stuck on the other side of Snoqualmie we didn’t think we are going to make it to the concert. Luckily we did - we hit the door at Moore at 6:54 .... not much time to spare. I am really glad you posted the series of videos so, we can re-live it again. The return trip home was less intense, but I was still in awe.
It took me a minute to recognize where I heard that kick ass variation opening from, of course its my favorite tune from the new DC movies featuring WW in them. Great minds think alike, Petrucci must be a fan of the great Hans Zimmer!
What about it do you like more? When I saw Dream Theater live in November (the only time I've seen Mangini live), I thought the drums sounded great, though I don't have the best ear when it comes to drums.
It would kind of difficult with Jordan Ruddess. They did it already with "Stream of Conscience" I would love another Awake like album, but for that you would need Kevin Moore, as he was the guy who came up with much of the material.
Well would you look at that... with a somewhat "standard" kit even mangini manages to sound not like programmed drums. I wish they'd use the same kit for dream theater at this point.
How was that camp BTW? I want to save up and go but I feel like I would be the worst player there and feel like I don't belong there. Would be very awkward trying to learn the stuff they teach you in a matter of 4 days. Give me as many details as you can lol. I'm dying to know what it was like.
That intro (wonder woman so say the comments) is the most enjoyable thing I have ever heard John play. Sounded like the heaviest Mogwai song ever. Not into Dream Theater but John Petrucci always seems like a super cool guy.
Has anyone else noticed that Johns Picking technique at high speed has changed? Looks a lot looser than it used to, Right hand kind of flops around. Maybe some RSI creeping in after all these years? Hasn't seemed to affect his dexterity tho.
I’m laughing and getting goosebumps knowing this theme. 😅😅😅 Imagine your guitar idol jamming a killer tune from a superhero movie! He should do the avengers theme. 🍻🍻🍻🍻
It's Dave LaRue. And yeah, he's incredible. Check out his playing on various Dixie Dregs / Steve Morse Band / Joe Satriani Live recordings. Everything's awesome.
jp is the god guitar legend master the best anybody his is my favorit guitar, same like song dream theater i like he play seven string guitar... the god guitar
Dave LaRue plays on Steve Morse's albums. Check out "Out Standing In Their Field" which is a truly excellent album and features some great tremendously difficult yet musical bass playing. LaRue plays on Petrucci's first solo album too.
Yeah, he tends to do that. Gives him more control over his picking hand. I do the same for that very same reason (gives me stability and allows me to be more accurate with my pick while riffing and soloing). Sadly, anchored pinky and everything, I still don't sound like him xD.
O cara toca um solo estratosfericamente foda e acerta os licks mais impossíveis do mundo na velocidade da luz… aí aos 11:05 ele era a parte mais fácil kkkkk fenômeno!!
That's because they are writing and playing material that has no vocals, or vocal melody lines. Its all instrumentals. When it comes to having vocals lines, you need to create those sections within the song. And you can't go into crazy stuff while you have vocal lines. You can only do those when they go into the solos. Take into account the Liquid Tension Experiment. You cannot put vocals in those songs without changing some of the song's structures in order to create vocal melodies. Many sections would be deleted completely or changed to fit vocals.
There is just no real feeling here. I do not get how he is so talented but there is no catch in his songs. Satriani has a hook within the first :30 each time. Vai too. Vinnie Moore, Malmsteen, etc. It is like his songs do not ever repeat and it is a Grateful Dead show for shredders.

Wonder woman, yeah!! Its Jaws of life BTW! Not tunnel vision!
Wonder Woman????
Michael Maier, the intro is "wonder woman's wrath" from wonder woman movie
beat me to it. Def wonder woman.
JP the Master and an incredible player indeed..love him! again thanks for sharing this..
Thanks for uploading!
YEAAAAH...Dave LaRue my man!!!! #beast
Mangini’s drums sound better here than on the last two DT tours
I agree!
For sure! But the other Mike is still unbetable
i wouldnt bet on portnoy either
What about it do you like more? When I saw Dream Theater live in November (the only time I've seen Mangini live), I thought the drums sounded great, though I don't have the best ear when it comes to drums.
the other mike has gone downhill.. his last "real band" flopped like turd..
Jaws Of Life!!!
I'd be so thrilled if DT decided to take their coming album in a heavier direction
allahajen
They said it would be a mammoth album...keep a look out for 2019
They might! He's going to be using 8 strings, so...
It would kind of difficult with Jordan Ruddess. They did it already with "Stream of Conscience"
I would love another Awake like album, but for that you would need Kevin Moore, as he was the guy who came up with much of the material.
CavemanJesus4Life I agree, but even Rudess has a lot to offer. Also, it's Consciousness
I just hope liquid tension experiment would get together
Thanks for sharing - can't wait for UK - Manchester
Thanks for uploading these amazing videos...!!! Can't wait to see Them here in Denmark later on the Tour....!!!!:-)
Terrific , Awesome !!!!!!
Wonder Woman Theme!!!
Well would you look at that... with a somewhat "standard" kit even mangini manages to sound not like programmed drums. I wish they'd use the same kit for dream theater at this point.
This kit sounds way better than the one used for dream theater
Was at the Salem show. Sounded 10x better live. This setup sounds HUGE.
Alamar
I saw these same songs at his guitar camp I’ve the summer and it was in a room with about 200 people!! It was incredible sound
yeah but its still tapperware! ;)
How was that camp BTW? I want to save up and go but I feel like I would be the worst player there and feel like I don't belong there. Would be very awkward trying to learn the stuff they teach you in a matter of 4 days. Give me as many details as you can lol. I'm dying to know what it was like.
Probably half the size as well.
Great quality
Good audio/video, thanks dude
Very high quality video! What did you use?
A camera
Great tone.
That intro (wonder woman so say the comments) is the most enjoyable thing I have ever heard John play. Sounded like the heaviest Mogwai song ever.
Not into Dream Theater but John Petrucci always seems like a super cool guy.
This was a badass intro to his set. The show could've been just Petrucci, for all I care. G3, Detroit, 2-12-18.
I love JP to death! but damn he needs to put out new material man! seriously!
Guitar Pedal Sound Check DT is his enterprise man
@@swindle2240 I think he's talking about his solo stuff
2020 here...wait for it
D 3 believe I am haha!
Andre PS Vieira new album announced
Man he’s on point!!
Has anyone else noticed that Johns Picking technique at high speed has changed? Looks a lot looser than it used to, Right hand kind of flops around. Maybe some RSI creeping in after all these years? Hasn't seemed to affect his dexterity tho.
~I love his guitar tone on this.
Jaws of life!! Thanks for posting.
Cant wait to see them in Europe!!!
I’m laughing and getting goosebumps knowing this theme. 😅😅😅 Imagine your guitar idol jamming a killer tune from a superhero movie! He should do the avengers theme. 🍻🍻🍻🍻
Mister John Petrucci the best!!!!!
mike mangini drum sounds more organic here, love it!
Does anyone know where to find that intro soundtrack??
Awesome intro!
Will there be a DVD of this?
lil Wayne dislike this
That was such an awesome concert
Why is John playing the Wonder woman BvS theme song ? isn't it a Hans Zimmer´s song ?
It's most likely his Intro for this G3 Tour
hey, I thought so too :)
Why wouldn't he? It was his choice.
because it's pretty rare to see people do covers of movie soundtracks, especially in a live show, and a just asked about it. simple as that.
JP also played a melody from the Star Wars soundtrack on one G3 tour years ago, so it's not that uncommon.
who is the bass man? he's a really good musician
It's Dave LaRue. And yeah, he's incredible. Check out his playing on various Dixie Dregs / Steve Morse Band / Joe Satriani Live recordings. Everything's awesome.
ty
drigoli86 he was also in a jazz fusion band called stretch they are on Spotify. They're best song imo is evil molecules
Genius
Mangini's sound is way better than he uses in DT shows. Thank you!!!
what?? have yoiu ever been to DT show with Mangini?? he sounds superb..
Джон ты лучший в прогрессивном металле,и очень хотелось бы что б это не ушло как с Куртом Кобейном
3:38
Wonder Woman Theme sounds like Tool riff! OMG! This is awesome
🤣
jp is the god guitar legend master the best anybody his is my favorit guitar, same like song dream theater i like he play seven string guitar... the god guitar
Damn its sounds so great you that dont realize its theme covers.
Marco Sfogli for next G3 tour!
Who is name on play bsss?
Good Forever Dave larue. He's a beast you should check him out. He played for Steve Morse for a bit too
Dave LaRue's one of the greatest. Very humble guy, but so so proficient. Always on point.
He played in a band called stretch with Glenn Alexander they are on Spotify. Its a jazz funk fusion type of band
He's playing bass on Satriani's Live 2006 DVD... it's one of the best live registrations.
Dave LaRue plays on Steve Morse's albums. Check out "Out Standing In Their Field" which is a truly excellent album and features some great tremendously difficult yet musical bass playing. LaRue plays on Petrucci's first solo album too.
That's some heavy-ass shit!
Kiko Loureiro for G3!
marvcar not happening. Guthrie Govan ftw
DT and DC
Does JP always anchor his pinky on the guitar?
Yeah, he tends to do that. Gives him more control over his picking hand. I do the same for that very same reason (gives me stability and allows me to be more accurate with my pick while riffing and soloing). Sadly, anchored pinky and everything, I still don't sound like him xD.
Maybe you just need to grow more beard man,...
NO! The pinky is NEVER an “anchor”. Balance only. Notice how when he plays fast there’s no pinky
Matias Radzinski I like using the pinkie too. More stability as you said.
5:10
God and another God play together
yacob _alan all three are gods, buddy!
3:40 better than original ver :D
Io cero. Toulouse.
John Petrucci playing Hans Zimmer, AWESOME!
Makin kemari John petrucci permainan gitar yah jd lbih kental dan tebal, tdk ngebut melulu, hahaha... ®
That snare sounds sick 🤘🏻👌🏻
DC metal
11:05-11:15 A proof that John is a human and makes mistakes.
O cara toca um solo estratosfericamente foda e acerta os licks mais impossíveis do mundo na velocidade da luz… aí aos 11:05 ele era a parte mais fácil kkkkk fenômeno!!
John might want to think twice about wearing all black and playing a black guitar. All I see is arms and forehead. Killer playing though
Ahaha like a santa clause 🤟
Petrucci looks like Rasputin. LOL!
il ne peut pas arrêter de switcher ......micro manche .......micro aiguë .... micro manche....... micro aiguë
Notice how much more musical Petrucci and Mangini are when they don't have James LaBrie's horrid caterwauling bogging them down.
no
what a dumb comment.. this is G3.. not dream theater.. no JLB no DT.. simple as that.
Have u checked Labrie solo stuff with Sfogli. Killer!
That's because they are writing and playing material that has no vocals, or vocal melody lines. Its all instrumentals. When it comes to having vocals lines, you need to create those sections within the song. And you can't go into crazy stuff while you have vocal lines.

Jesus of prog
1.25 great debate
wtf the drum is a bit off tempo. the fuck mangini
fail @ 6:05 to 6:06
Jp is really struggling to play his own music...
The only God I praised is losing his magic :(
Heru Musicman struggling ????? He played it fine WTF
Less Delay, John... too many effects.
needs rhythm guitarist.
Manginis making somgs empty. No offense. But its plain.
La zic inexpressive 👎
I don't like John.
