When playing wide with a hivemind, the new admin system makes the Prosperity tradition very good. 1 free Synapse drone per 20 pop means you basically can ignore admin cap as you grow.
Ship engagement range is not the same as ship weapon range. The carrier AI is meant for carriers with strike craft because the engagement range helps the strike craft. Putting the carrier AI on anything that doesn't have strike craft is a waste and it's hurting you because you no longer have the artillery AI bonus to weapons range.
I'm aware of that - It does help in one way, which Is what I was testing out however! Engagement range Is also how far away from the enemy the ships will stay once engaged in combat, the carrier AI means they stay at that 150 range and let the enemy come towards them whilst being able to fire their X weapons at this range as they move and the battleships stay still, whereas the artillery mode will move them towards the enemy until they hit 80 range, this means they get in range of the enemies attacks faster too, and when stacking Battleships in order to try and destroy the enemy (Specifically the end game crisis fleets) before they even reach you this means they have more time to do this before the target gets to their range. Now It was clear that was not worth It, and the bonuses from artillery mode far outweigh this, but It did provide a bonus even with non strike craft due to the X size weapons 150 range. Again, clearly this wasn't worth it as too much of their damage came from their shorter range L weapons which did not benefit from the carrier mode much (They got some bonus range bringing them over 80 range from other sources, but not much.), but still was worth a bit of science! :)
i would love to see a doomsday origin with a type of species that doesn't like migration/colonizing, making an already hard challenge harder but give it higher resource benefits, so that if you do survive the start you end up with a strong empire that emerged from a dying plannet
Actually the Offensive Aura cuts down Point Defense by a little over *half*... It reduces Fire Rate and Damage by 30%, which means 100% x 70% x 70% = 49% effectiveness. All in all, the best choice if you legitimately want to make use of Strike Craft or Missiles.
From what I've heard, Strike Craft actually work now, and they have an interesting place in the meta, as basically the dedicated response to corvette spam and enemies with a ton of small ships. They tend to suffer slightly against enemies with a lot of big ships, but it's an interesting option, and the Juggernaut being a strike craft platform means it is surprisingly well-defended against what are normally the biggest problem for large ships: being overwhelmed by large amounts of small corvettes.

honestly i kind of want him to look up the new machine empire since now they use energy for almost everything they make research=energy unity=energy empire sprawl=energy
I like the idea of the galactic community, being able to vote on galactic policies and such, but the ai empires are all lemmings and pass every single proposal, seems more like a mechanic for multiplayer with all real players. I think it is because the ai see one good modifier and conclude that it will help them some so they vote yes and are able to see that it will give opposing empires more of an edge. For example, in my galaxy I have a ton of tech, almost double any other empire, and most other empires have way bigger economies than me, so if they were real players they definitely would not want to vote to have research station output increased by 60% and diplomatic weight from tech be +20% or something, because that just further increases my edge in the galaxy.
Dear Lathland. Do you think for your next stellaris playthrough. You could make a version of the imperium of man using the scion origin. If you do make a playthrough like that. I highly recommend watching the templin institute about warhammer 40k as they do a great job in speaking about the lore. Hope you will consider. Signed: A big fan.
Along with the empire Ai they did also rework strike craft they rebuild faster fix there Ai because there was a long standing bug and i think not 100% but they made them have more range and faster
I love Federations, it removes that.... nothingness-going-on if you play a less aggressive empire, since you can start federations of whatever type fits your empire, there's the galactic community, etc.
Scion is pretty much just sandbox mode. The fallen empire gives you powerful ships. And if you happen to lose them in battle, they give you more. You really can't lose. I think a Scion playthrough would just be uninteresting.
I'm starting to think that they need to do something with the endgame crisis to make it more challenging, but we'll have to see how it plays out with other types of empires.
The thing that bothers me is my armies switching back to passive every time they take a planet. It's a small thing, but can be quite annoying when you forget to put them back on aggressive. Other than that, loving Federations.
I set up a trade planet in early game which only had trade buildings and I can't get the galatic market you get it when you have absolutely no trade value fantastic

Yeah I think you can get any of the fallen empire buildings through that, though It is somewhat rare! So far I've managed to get the food building a few times and the auto-forge alloy foundry twice. :)
id like a left over mold growth from a dish on a shattered ring
I loved the video it was really fun to watch
ok there emperor Palpatine, have fun being the senate.
Thanks Lath. Comments for the algorithm.
honestly i kind of want him to look up the new machine empire since now they use energy for almost everything they make
research=energy
unity=energy
empire sprawl=energy
Lathrix=Conquer of galaxies
No one talks about how the first encounter is called book nation?
I'd like to see you go for a scion start next
Scion is pretty much just sandbox mode. The fallen empire gives you powerful ships. And if you happen to lose them in battle, they give you more. You really can't lose. I think a Scion playthrough would just be uninteresting.
I'm starting to think that they need to do something with the endgame crisis to make it more challenging, but we'll have to see how it plays out with other types of empires.
The stellaris senate accurately represents what we here on earth call democracy
I think that Calamitous Birth would be a fine rollplay for you.
is it just me who constantly pauses the video by trying to press the "a science has been done" notification ?
Yes, strike craft have been improved.
I'm pretty sure strike craft did get a boost in health and damage.
Maybe you should try robots ob a machine world and try going tall. Not sure what type of machines you should be. But driven assimilators and going wide......
For the next origin I would like to see to start with the federation with two empires... I had hard times to get it running. Would like to see your solution.
Nice playthrought! May be try also something militaristic like Manladorian empire?
my juggernauts were getting eating by a loading bug?
At around the 40 min mark when you are talking about the rulers fighting to the death to win dominance. A hivemind leader is immortal so even if hes pisspoor at fighting he cannot die. Or does that not work?
The Juggernaut can upgrade/retrofit itself? That's different.
