Just wanted to say that the diplomatic weight stats are better for seeing fleet power than the pathetic-overwhelming scale. You can get an exact number for how strong they are, and how strong you are in comparison
This only works up to about mid game against AI because after that you have no idea what their production capabilities are. Maybe you ARE twice as strong, but maybe they can rebuild that fleet within a year or two after you destroy it, over and over. I imagine that point comes much sooner with human players.
Mind Flayers are a Dungeons and Dragons creature. Basically aliens that eat brains, implant their larvae into other creatures to make more of themselves, and are powerful psionicists. Very Lovecraftian.

They are my favorite monster - and no I do not want humans or elves being psionics as well. The fact they are so ALIEN and way beyond simple understanding is what makes it cool they can just throw around anti-magic fields, their psionics cannot be blocked in return - they mind blast you into idiocy before eating your brains, etc.

I mean, they rulded an interplanar empire based on slavery, they have 2 arms legs and eyes (with a few little tentacles) Beyond their reproductive method and the hivemind thing, they are very similar to any other species in the D&D lore, they even have gods of their own (Illsensine). The Far Realms from where they come is really lovecraftian (unfathomable and all) but illithid looks more like humans having evolved there that a truly native species.
How would a hive mind worshipping slaanesh even work? I mean I can see Khorne, Nurgle or even Tzeentch but the Goddess of excess and decadence? For a hive mind? Maybe someone has an explanation for me? Also this empire is just the definition of Lathrixian 'Good Guys'. Making the galaxy a more beautiful and better place. Somewhat. Somehow.
Well a hive mind like this acts in its own self interest and can still apparently feel and crave things such as food and other sensations - I'm sure it could fall to gluttony and excess with what it does!

Your full Stellaris playthroughs are, without fail, a delight to watch. It's really a shame that the algorithm doesn't like them... I doubt it'll happen, but I really do hope that it'll be changed eventually so you can keep producing brilliant content without suffering for it!

I was playing around with the new features and maybe a find an original way to use the Overmind Origin, instead of some kind of parasitic infections, the Overmind can be something similar to the Combine, so we have telepathic leader who exploit local resources and population for their goals, whatever they are.
I just wanna say I love watching the full playthrough I watch a lot of youtube in the background while I play videogames and your videos I feel I can understand with out watching the screen as much and so these longer videos mean more laughing in at your schemes

The movie scared me to death many years ago. I was sitting among friends who were both younger AND much more worldly in a theater near Chicago. Everyone liked me a lot so they insisted that I sit in the middle and hold the huge popcorn. The very FIRST jump scare in the movie, I whooped, and threw the popcorn, in it's entirety, straight up into the air, it rained down on the 5 of us and all the people around us, and the bucket wound up on one of my best friends' heads. Seeing the same idea as a mod for one of my favorite games is... enjoyable.

Hey lath. Love the video, and just wanted to share something I noticed. I’m pretty sure subjects don’t get ai bonuses. Believe the game counts them as the player and they get no bonuses
I love having long videos that I can just lie back and drift through for extended periods of time, even multiple days if I have a particularly busy schedule! So I have been suffering somewhat by the standards of the UA-cam algorithm. But therefore I also love your videos even beyond just their outstanding quality and comedy! So of course I will gladly like and comment whenever possible to show what support I can :)
Also, technically a hollowed world with a planetary shield should be immune to orbital bombardment. -50% + -50%. I haven't tested this yet though. Like so lathrix sees, poor scourge. what are they supposed to do against that?
I just imagine that poor machine uprising being able to fight off a small reinforcement group of like, a half dozen ships, only to have their prospects completely crushed when the real “Auxiliary fleet” arrives properly, like the ‘Slipspace rupture detected! Slipspace rupture detected! Slipspace rupture detected!“ thing from Halo, and utterly destroys them without taking any damage.
This mod is so well done honestly paradox should just buy the mod from the maker hire the maker and then put it in the game as a hive mind expansion or rework
Something I noticed, the Hollow World projects cost so many minerals to make. But if you're digging out the world's mass, shouldn't you be using lots of alloys for structural support, and gaining huge quantities of minerals from the raw earth you're digging? Something for the mod maker to consider, perhaps.

An interesting calange would be to replay that empire with a few more emposed restrictions namely as a 100% good guy empire, like Venom and only eat bad guys. And only fight one empire at a time.

Yeah that's what I always do. You just have to be sure to look at the base stay and not the one with modifiers added.
@thrawn yes, I mainly use it early game to see how many corvettes the enemy has (one corvette with base components is 1 dw), but that is a good point

yes sub 30 minutes videos are way to short for stuff, especially for gaming videos. most of the videos I prefer to watching are at minimum 40mins each

An interesting calange would be to replay that empire with a few more emposed restrictions namely as a 100% good guy empire, like Venom and only eat bad guys. And only fight one empire at a time.
