A rarely known cause that increases price in such restaurants is that they usually serve caviar. The thing with caviar is that the head/top chef(s) will inspect each container of caviar (when it is delivered) and eat a full tea spoon off each. If there are 2 top chefs at the helm, they both eat it and call it the most exciting part of their day. You can see this in many youtube videos when they show the chefs going about their day. The cost of that is forwarded to customers. Owner type chefs might just taste a tiny bit of each container as quality control (to minimize cost), but hired chefs (not owner) will take full advantage of this "quality control". And you'd be paying for both their salary and their caviar.

I have dined several times at Daniel (ok but disappointing considering the chef's talent, hype and the prices), Le Bernardin (great value for money for seafood lovers), Eleven Madison Park (very creative cuisine that does not always work, but great experience nonetheless) and Per Se (consistently good and definitely worth the trip). Although not on this list, the Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare is another noteworthy restaurant worth going to. Finally, one of my favorite restaurants in NYC is Jungsik (creative Korean cuisine) definitely worth a trip.
When it comes to global cuisines, NYC is hard to beat, but for high-end gourmet cuisine, it does not come close to Paris. There are a dozen restaurants that are better than any restaurant in NYC.

People who say it is are simply convincing themselves that it tastes better because they spent so much money on it. You could always spend $150+ for caviar service at high end restaurants but for that much you could buy your own cow and have a personal butcher/chef prepare it for you. Rich people spend money but they aren't stupid. For $5k I'd just book a first class international ticket and get a high-level meal on the plane, where the meals are comparable to luxury restaurants. Some of my most memorable meals have been in the air.

The dishes are small but you get 6+ of them. You end up feeling full with tasting menus, with included bread and off-menu items. Wine pairings will particularly leave you satisfied. You get your moneys worth.

@@YourNighrmare I'm not even sure what you're trying to tell me. You're paying for some of the greatest culinary talents in the word, in one of the most expensive cities in the world. It's not going to be cheap. Yes you can fill up at a diner or whatever for $20 but a high-end restaurant is about the experience and service. I just came back from a 40 day trip in Europe and the highlight of the entire trip was two Michelin restaurants I went to in Athens.
But, like I said, the people who go to these types of restaurants in the video have been to KFC and diners and want an elevated experience. $300 isn't breaking the bank for them. If you only make $600 ofc it will be a lot for you but somebody pulling 6 figures it's not going to hurt so much.

Yea ion care bout the experience bunk an experience I want value not experience a full with no wisdom will seek an experience but a wise person will seek value not a parlay, change your mindset your will see things differently!!!

@@YourNighrmare mate I agree but I think you're missing the point. a $300 flight will get me to the same city just as a $2,000 flight will, but the $2,000 flight is an experience of exclusive luxury. If you only have $300 to fly that's okay and fine, but for someone that has a lot more and $2,000 doesn't hurt them, who's to judge how to spend their money? If no-one was buying these products, they wouldn't be in business. If you were to apply your logic to everything in life, there would be no luxury products out there.

Looks impressive but I’ve tried fancy food before and looks can be deceiving. The tastiest food you will ever taste will be the cultural food you find on food trucks and family-owned restaurants. Cheap but flavorful.

If J were bond to stay in NY for some rule, J will live in Brooklyn, Dumbo District. Why? There is the Financial District you know, but it is the old financial platform from the ancient docks along the river.
Nowadays in my opinion there is below another financial platform, under all the bridges.
