I have a 2021 Sportsman 570 that had the same issue. I took it in for maint. and had them look it over. Here is what they found - The OEM airfilter is garbage, if it gets wet its basically damaged and needs to be replaced. The water is comming in from the snorkel itself and from the little drain plug at the bottom of the box. There are a few cheap mods you can do for this - but basically, extending your little snorkel or sealing up the box will keep it dry. I would also suggest a water proof airfilter to keep water out of your throttle body - water in that filter will suck right into the motor.
It’s obvious you’ve ingested water/mud in your air box. The residue of mud around your air box is clear evidence of it. This is 100% fine and it’s great you use your unit the way that you want to. I’ve been riding atv’s for 25 years and never ever have this issue but I try and avoid mud and water.
It seems you’ve assumed I use my machine as a mudder or submarine. I do not. I trail ride. And on every single trail I’ve ever ridden, there are puddles. And where there’s puddles, there’s mud. Totally unavoidable unless I ride in the dessert which I have no interest in doing.
@@JimboP-Outside Yes sir there’s not much mud and water in the desert though it’s still very enjoyable riding there. I’m baffled as I have the same unit as you do and have been using it in the deep woods in Wisconsin and UP in Michigan. I’ve never had the mud and water where you are getting it though certainly have driven in those conditions. Good luck in coming up with a fix.
@@cerny4444 Thanks for the details DA. For me, it seems the water splashes from the back wheel inside the plastics and right into the belt box intake. I’ve been to the same farm 3 times in a row and have not been in a puddle deeper than the floorboards on the ATV. In any event, I do enjoy this machine and glad to hear that you do as well. 👍
Thanks for pointing out these dirt and water ingress problems! Should be getting our 2022 in the next couple of weeks so I hope to mitigate those issues while it's still clean!
So I’ve put 1700km on my 2021 trail this yr since I bought it all tail and some mud (my local trails sometime u have no choice) but a lot of wide out high speed trail stuff and I do get mud in the air box but it’s always the same amount no matter how I drive so I think it’s when it splashed from puddles at high speed. I just wide it out and blow the filter out and keep going. Don’t sweat it bud
I picked up my 570 trail the beginning of June. I've had it sitting in my garage, I cant ride it until September sometime due to some medical issues. Theres not even 1 hour on it. 2 weeks ago I noticed its leaking oil from under the front axle. There is a plug there. Dripping right off that plug. Its going back tomorrow morning. Pissed me off... Btw I did the belt box exhaust mod as well. It's a great idea.
I have a 2021 570 and I notice the drain plug doesn’t seal at all, I tried to silicone it but water still gets in from somewhere poor design for the cvt and air intake
@@JimboP-Outside no problem it’s great to see videos like this , Gives people a heads up or people can discuss solutions they came up with to fix the problem
@@JimboP-Outside Hopefully not but regardless they are minor issues in the grand scheme still a great quad for the money family has always had Polaris’ and they have overall been great
I plan to add the belt housing intake mod when I get mine. There are several videos out there. I will not be mudding or abusing mine (I'm old and work hard for my money) but it looks like it could get stuff in it pretty easy.
I have 5 2022 sportsman 570 touring machines for my tours we have this same problem in all of them these are off road machines they should'nt be doing this I've ridden all sorts of makes and models my entire life most don't have this problem, I'm working on engineering a solution to this problem!
These Factory boxes just don’t fit correctly any more. Pretty much across all brands too. One day somebody will figure out a better way

Very informative reply and advice, thank you! 👍

Will do, and thank you for sharing your experience. 👍
Also for the belt box I just bought a base model style and slammed that on had that for 1k hard fast kilometres and the belts still ok

I’m sorry to hear about the oil leak, and your medical challenges. I enjoy this machine but I’m getting very concerned about quality. 🤔

Looks like dust build up. Make sure you are running a pre-filter that can protect against small splashes.
Thanks Travis. Is the pre-filter that sock-like thing that goes over the filter? I’ve seen other machines come with them, mine did not.
@@JimboP-Outside yes it is! There is also a aftermarket gasket for the lid if you think it’s leaking.
