If never owned a Polaris because everyone I knew around me with one always has problems. Brakes, belts, bushing, bearings, fuel pumps, engine failure. Sure they are pretty and they ride nice but I will just stick to my slow Hondas and Yamahas that always been reliable to me.

I have a 2017 850 sportsman that has 7500 hard miles on it! Just now I’m doing my first major maintenance on it ( other then oil changes) = bearings, breaks, bushings…… I’d say it’s held up way better than expected! I use it for everything from work to trail rides and sand dunes! The only thing I regret is not getting the 1000 = the extra power is needed in the big dunes!

@@FordManiac76 I don't know you haven't had to replace U joints because my Sportsman XP1000 and
Scrambler XP1000 S had U joints failed by 750 miles.
Replace them with Spicer 5-170X for inside C clip and

I've got a 2000 Polaris Sportsman 500HO that's still running like a champ. It's simple and easy to work on and does everything I need vs getting a new one, with all the bells and whistles and more possible failure points. Really don't want to pay the cost for one of these new machines either, "paid for" makes paying for an occasional breakdown more palatable.

I had a tough relationship with Polaris. Owned a 850 sportsman and a 1000 ranger. Both machines were Awsome snd very capable. My problem was stuff constantly breaking on them after a couple thissmsd miles or so. Own a pioneer 1000 now and while I really like it and it’s been crazy reliable. It don’t ride like the ranger. These new Polaris might be much tougher machines though than the old ones!

Got a chuckle when you started talking about what you don’t like. You stated with the headlight then went back to what you love. I just thought that was kind of funny. I’m looking at the 500 Sportsman for my daughter but she is petite. 5’0” so I’m not sure this is the best machine. The narrow seat is a plus. EPS another plus. I had a 2002 700 4wd Sportsman, it couldn't beat my neighbors 04 kawi 700 prairie in a drag race, it didn't have 4 wd going down a hill and 1 hand brake for all 4 wheels ,so going down hill, the rear wheels got all the braking, making it uncontrollable, and very clunky.
