If never owned a Polaris because everyone I knew around me with one always has problems. Brakes,belts,bushing,bearings,fuel pumps,engine failure. Sure they are pretty and they ride nice but I will just stick to my slow Hondas and Yamahas that always been reliable to me.
I have a 2015 570 with almost 10k miles original motor and transmission when I first spotted I thought it was gonna fall apart all the noises that made still gets the job done
I have a 2017 850 sportsman that has 7500 hard miles on it! Just now I’m doing my first major maintenance on it ( other then oil changes) = bearings, breaks, bushings…… I’d say it’s held up way better than expected! I use it for everything from work to trail rides and sand dunes! The only thing I regret is not getting the 1000 = the extra power is needed in the big dunes!
@@FordManiac76 I don't know you haven't had to replace U joints because my Sportsman XP1000 and Scrambler XP1000 S had U joints failed by 750 miles. Replace them with Spicer 5-170X for inside C clip and 5-3233× for outside C clip.
I've got a 2000 Polaris Sportsman 500HO that's still running like a champ. It's simple and easy to work on and does everything I need vs getting a new one, with all the bells and whistles and more possible failure points. Really don't want to pay the cost for one of these new machines either, "paid for" makes paying for an occasional breakdown more palatable.

My problem was stuff constantly breaking on them after a couple thissmsd miles or so. Own a pioneer 1000 now and while I really like it and it’s been crazy reliable. It don’t ride like the ranger. These new Polaris might be much tougher machines though than the old ones!
I'm still not buying a polaris for the reasons you said you didnt like them but i can see where people do😂 I went canam ltd this year and was always a yamaha/kawi fan. I needed a 3-seater sxs and the defender was the best option for me

I’m looking at the 500 Sportsman for my daughter but she is petite. 5’0” so I’m not sure this is the best machine. The narrow seat is a plus. EPS another plus. We’ve always been Honda fans mostly because my uncle used to own a Honda dealership. I like all the Polaris and aftermarket accessories that are available for t Polaris
I would recommend the sportsman XP 550 for your daughter (2009-2014) , its on the same chassis(with the narrow seat), like the 850 and 1K 🙂 My wife is 4'11" and is more comfortable on sons 2010 550 than her 2018 Sportsman 570 SP

Good luck my 2019 1000xp had worn out a arm bushings after my second oil change even after greasing constantly. Fuel pump also quit on me had to be replaced at 2500km. Also blew belts easily.
Time will tell. Sometimes you don’t have any issues on your machines and then other times it’s just one after another. Been there done that. Crossing my fingers.
Well, got my first Polaris this year also. For similar reasons. Every guys that told me not to buy one had issues for the same reasons, lack of maintenance and they just constantly beat the crap out of it and honestly, don't know out to operate a CVT transmission.
@@timh6115 so I adjusted the handle bar light with the side adjustment screw but can you adjust the 3 lights inside separately? One light shoots straight up lol.
@garretth0707 I found the kingquad and grizzly to be extremely competitive to one another. I wouldn't say the grizzly is a better all around machine so I went with value per dollar. The kingquad came out about 3500cad cheaper with 5 year warranty.
I can't justify spending the 200% extra for a used Honda or Yamaha quad, so I'm stuck with my $600 Polaris Sportsman 700 that has every joint worn out. Same with sleds, $850 Fusion 900.
I had a 2002 700 4wd Sportsman, it couldn't beat my neighbors 04 kawi 700 prairie in a drag race, it didn't have 4 wd going down a hill and 1 hand brake for all 4 wheels ,so going down hill, the rear wheels got all the braking, making it uncontrollable, and very clunky.
I forgot to mention that on this review. The engine breaking has improved for sure. It’s not as good as the grizzly engine breaking but it is definitely improved.

I buy Yamaha for reliability. A 660 Grizzly and an Apex 4 stroke snowmobile. And numerous Yamaha motorcycles.👍 Polaris and Ski Doo have not been reliable for me.
As far as they've come they're still falling their sales are down recalls are up and they cost too goddamn much money. they want $15,000 for a 570 two up. For the price of that 1,000 you could have gotten a side-by-side. And with their bad reputation and a starting price of $16,000. Ill Stick with my 2001 Yamaha Bear tracker 250.
Man, i absolutely LOVED my 2017 Scrambler 1000XP! Nothing sounds better than the 1000 with a dual RJWC! LOVED it! BUT...but...Polaris needs to do better. You can buy a Renegade XXC to get the higher gear ratio AND turn it into an XMR without issue. You simply cannot do that with a Scrambler. I hated it for that reason only. Get the EPI Trail Kit for your clutch and you're set!
They do sound awesome! My brother has a 2021 scrambler with an hmf exhaust, beast!! I have a 2023 renegade 1000xxc with tune and exhaust and it is a machine to be reckoned with!!! Awesome machines

Have to adjust the angle of the pod light. Yes mine was aiming in the trees. Fixed it in 2 seconds

I've owned polaris SXS and snowmobiles, and I'll never own them ever again. I now have a suzuki kingquad 750 and couldn't be happier.
