@Carter Nikolas I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Hi Joe, I would try to obtain a brand new wheel not a reparation. It's not ok as it is. Porsche should give a 100% satisfaction to the customer. If they refuse, write to Porsche America and tell them this and about your youtube channel.
If they still don't offer black rims you can get the silver set and have them professionally powder coated for around $200 at most powder coaters. Don't let them charge you more just because they are Porsche wheels, the process is the same.
That wheel is not just scratched. The center of the wheel where the scratch is located is bent outwards about 1 to 2mm. That wheel was subjected to incredibly rough handling. It may be cracked. Sorry to spoil your day.
Yup the edge is bent out , but this guy is a clown the way he talks he couldn’t race in anything like a auto cross or even down street, let alone in a competitive track
Wow Paul Kelley. So you are a better driver. Please show us your great driving skills in your Porsche. I don't think so. Your just a jealous idiot who has nothing better to do and no doubt can't even afford a used Lada.
I tested the Michelin PS4S with Michelin on several driving conditions when they were first introduced. You can't goo wrong with them. The Cup2 as def too aggressive if you are driving the car everyday. Awesome videos for sure.
All I got from this is that Porsche dealership scratched up your old wheels so you took your car to them with centre locks that are hard to remove and they trashed them as well. You need to find another dealership. Also as others have said, the alloy looks buckled now nr the centre lock so would def insist on a new wheel.
If you do decide to go back to separate summer/winter rims you could go with a smaller rim to give you a higher sidewall tire. My GTI has 18" summer tires but my winter wheels are 17" with a larger tire.
Love the car Joe! I personally have a set of Pilot Sport PS2 N3 (or N4 I believe) which are Porsche OEM tires as well as the Pirelli tires. My wheel and tire insurance replaces whatever is on the car, nice since I just replaced two Winter tires, or similar. Meaning if you want the Michelin tires I bet you could replace your tires with the Michelins under warranty and replace the remaining tires out of pocket.
I don't think the tyre and rim insurance covers cosmetic issue like kerbing. On my PDS for that package from Porsche Australia it is only for structural failure that causes the wheel to be unable to hold air or hold the tyre. Usually done from a massive pot hole or something else that would crack or bend the wheel. It you scratch it up no go...... that is your normal cosmetic repair for you.
It’s because the techs working behind the scenes just don’t care, they never even see you. They are paid by how much time it should take to finish the job. They if take too long, they don’t get paid for those hours so they finish it ASAP and move on to the next job.
I absolutely love your house! I’m from South Jersey and have lived in CA for the past 34 years. I’ve missed living back east the entire time! Oh Yeah........I’ve been driving Porsches for 40 years. Keep up the great videos........much enjoyed.
Beautiful house and car, congrats. I would be a bit more annoyed with the damage. It shows a basic lack of quality control and disrespect for your property. That is damage you can see, I would be wondering about other issues that they wouldn't expect one to see. Anyway that car is amazing. I got to drive one on a small section of Summit Point last fall and by far of the other 7 Porsches I drove that day the 911 GTS was the best.
as we speak. I got the same issue with my dealer when they replaced back tires of my GT3RS 2016 model and tech used a screwdriver to remove wight balance plats which lead to heavy scratches on both rims. I fought back for wheel replacement after they hide in telling me. so we agreed on they will paint it and if it didnt look fine for me they will order wheells for me. so ofc wont go back to same dealer again. waiting wrok to be done .
Roads look familiar. Westchester County guy? Thought I recognized either the Tarrytown Reservoir or the road that cuts through the Rockefeller Park Preserve.
Would it not be easier, To have all weather tyres fitted in the first place by Porsche? However, if someone chooses to have optional wheels fitted after buying the car, then it would be up to the individuals themselves, as to what tyres as well as wheels they have fitted, I have never heard of wheels and tyres protection plan in the UK at any rate, that's a first. However, in the UK, Every brand new motor vehicle purchased, are fitted with run flat tyres as standard.
Great videos Joe! Too bad about the scratches but great that the dealership will refinish. Was thinking though...that $2100 wheel/tire warranty you paid for...Could the dealership be using the warranty to fix your wheels at no cost? It just occured to me that the wheel/tire warranty protects you as well the dealership from messing up :)
Excellent point! I bet they will. I talked to management and wanted it on record that this repair is due to their error. I just want them to be careful, that is all. But in the end, I bet you are right, the dealer will probably log this under my existing repair warranty.
Love your videos. I will either be getting a gt3 or a gts next year, I currently have a supercharged s2000. I really want the gt3 but it's hard to get them to build one for you because of the limited production and I want a stick car. So most likely I'll get a gts

Cant you do a wheel swap yourself? So having 2 set of tyres just like on your previous 911. It aint really science unless i am missing something which makes it really difficult on a porsche
Cars bikes and chill the centerlock wheels require a special torque wrench since they need to go down to 500 lb ft or so. It also is very difficult to break the centerlocks free and to retorque them.
center locks are more difficult b/c they require high torque with a non standard wrench as joejohnp stated. it's possible to get the wrench (expensive ~$1000) and do it yourself but again you need a load of leverage and decent amount of strength. look for a video how to on youtube. even when this guy had standard 5 lug nut wheels he took his car to the dealer to change them and since center locks are on another level , i totally doubt he'd want to try that.
