Me too! Its hard starting out but as more viewership continues to flow our way it will not only grow the channel but also our ability to make said videos.
I bought a 2015 Carrera GTS Cab to drive on the windy curvy amazing mountain roads that I live on with ocean views and this car is just amazing fun. Brian everything you said about the car is true and then some. Forget the track, this car is made for those windy curvy roads that Porsches just love.
Thanks Brian, Nice review. I ordered my 2015 911 GTS in mid March and it is due to be delivered at the end of May.. I ordered w PDK and just a few other options. I am one lucky Basterd and I can't wait to hear those shifts at Red line. This may be the last of the Naturally aspirated boxster engines Porsche produces. Nothing else sounds like this engine. Thanks again.
I'd get it with the sportsdesign package, glass roof, manual, bose audio, non GTS alcantara interior, 18 way seats with heat and cool, and standard rims
I will admit it's a big departure from the standard audio system, but the Bose system gets you all of the same features apart from the subwoofer, and I see it as not having that big a sound difference...and when the Bose is about 1,500 and the Burmester is about 5,200 I expect a bigger difference in sound
Thanks for the review! The GTS is very appealing and I read that they've "fixed" their manual gearbox so the 2WD coupe looks like a winner. Just nitpicking here: can we get less music when you comment & drive? The flat 6 (and other nice motors you test) is enough of a melody (to me at least) :)
Sorry mate, currently I don't have a dedicated dual XLR input for the DSLR cameras. On the mic standpoint, especially on global launches, we are currently limited. Its something I would like to improve in future once we have the viewership to support the gear upgrade.
I just brought one. What a fantastic car! I will track it at Sebring with Henry Gilbert Performance Driving on March 26, and again with PCA Driver's Ed on April 16th.
Sure does look good. Will take a GT3 over a GTS, even looking at a base GTS with manual, this thing is $115k. Not that far off from a base GT3 @130k. The whole manual vs PDK aside. For 15k more you get a whole lot more car (the upgrades in engine components alone would cost more than that, and we haven't factor in suspension upgrades, transmission and others) and not that much more compromise in terms of everyday usability. Once someone start considering getting the GTS in PDK, the GT3 is a no brainer. I guess this just shows how much of a bargain the GT3 really is! The PDK-S in the GT3 is world apart from the normal PDK as well!
There are some people who just have to have a manual, I don't exactly know who they are, but they're out there. If they're looking at a 911, the GTS is a great direction. On the other hand, if you can live with a GT3 on a daily basis, then why not?
I am a die hard manual lover but even I can admit there are some cars that are far better off having dual clutch boxes. Without question M4, 991 Turbo and Alfa 4c. Yes I realize with two of them dual clutch is the only option. I will take a manual on NA or super charged cars, but anything with a turbo can really benefit from the flat and quick shifting DCT.
Brian Makse The 991 GT3 really isn't that much harder to live with than a GTS. Unless you get the manual, really not much point getting the GTS. However, while you gain from having a manual, you lose some in driving dynamic of the GT3. So it's really a trade off.
Brian Makse Clearance is the big one, but the optional front lift does allow similar clearance as the GTS. And yes, you do have to remember to press the button! Ride is def stiffer. But ride quality isn't really all that much worst. The 991 GT3 is significantly more compliant than prior generation. I could easily live with it everyday. It is however true that the GT3 is missing two seats. Bu, if you are getting a 911, one should really only plan to use the rear seats occasionally, since leg room is very limited. It is really only suitable for short drive, or young child. The lack of rear seats does provide more storage space (but one can also opt to have the rear seats deleted in the GTS). IMO, the biggest compromise in the GT3 is the lack of a decent set of speakers. The sound package plus you can purchase with the GT3 is average at best. True you do have the awesome engine note, but if you are going to live with it everyday, having a decent set speakers.is very important.
"Save The Manuals"? Why would anyone drive anything else? I've driven a PDK and they are nice, but my personal Porsches are a 6-speed and 7-speed manual by choice.
Another great performance car review, a perfect example of how a high performance road car can be tested on a race track but not driven in a crazy tyre smoking sideways manner, just driving the car the way the manufacturers advocate, spirited but realistic in that the car is a road car not a 'race car'. You could clearly drive the car way faster and way more sideways but because the great majority of people who buy the car cannot a test like that is irrelevant, you demonstrated that the car has all the performance capability anyone would ever need when driving on public roads and if you want to do a track day the car wont bite if you drive it as you did in this review. Your reviews are 'Real World' driving , which is the World 99% of people live in. The GTS day in day out is a great Porsche car, again in the real world of day to day driving it will provide all the performance most people can ever use with incredible comfort in conjunction, I would love a GT3 but as a daily driver I would choose the GTS, and those two rear seats fit my two grandkids.
Brian Makse I am sure your type of 'Sideways/tyre smoking ' review will be way more in line with a car's 'potential' capabilities as opposed to its 'suggested' type of use, hey there are plenty of people who like the tyre smoke and oversteer tests, nothing wrong with them, I personally just dont need to see a car tested like that because I will never drive the car like that on the road these days , even though I could as well as anyone who tests on UA-cam. My racing days are behind me and sophistication of performance is more important to me these days than that of the 'sideways/smokey' world performance application. You never know I may be in the US when you are going to do your 'Sideways/Smokey' review, we may have a 'Sideways/Smokey' competition, with a suitable side wager for the Winner, remember, us old Sprintcar drivers invented the World of 'Sideways'.
1atomicgolf Yeah, you blokes steer with the throttle, which leads me to ask - what's the steering wheel for? I'm game for wager any time. Our next stop is Vegas, by the way.
Brian Makse 'What's the steering wheel for'...to move the car around in the Pits after you get it out of the transporter and to get it back into the transporter 'after' the races...its not for directional use when you are driving in a race, I thought everyone knew that.
Brian Makse I notice with interest and some amusement that some people are getting their knickers in a knot because Porsche has decided to no longer make available a manual transmission, why would you want a transmission that is inferior in every way to the new PDK transmission. Mark Webber was recently asked what he thought of the decision to not make a manual transmission in a Porsche car anymore, he said..' Porsche have always been overall the leaders in performance car technology, they have simply made manual transmissions redundant, you simply could not drive a current 991 Porsche in any model faster with a manual transmission compared to the PDK, I absolutely know I couldnt work a manual gearbox at the speed or efficiency of the PDK,'... if one of the Worlds best drivers believes manual transmissions are inferior to the PDK why would anyone want a manual transmission. I know there will be the the cries of... ' I want to feel the purity of a perfect 'heel'toe' downchange, and I heave more control with a manual transmission'...I am certainly no Mark webber but I have driven the current Porsche Turbo with PDK and I have driven the last model with the manual transmission and the difference is staggering, no driver with any true competition experience would ever now want the , manual transmission. The reality is a manual transmission is simply inferior in every respect to the PDK now, and if people like myself ( and on a much higher level like Mark Webber) who have driven race cars for 30 years immediately dismiss manual transmissions compared to the PDK I wonder why anyone would not laud the PDK for what it actually is, a simply better driving control transmission. If you polled every world class race driver relative to the new PDK after they have driven it I would absolutely guarantee they all would have to say the PDK would allow them to drive the car quicker and more efficiently than with a manual transmission, they couldnt say anything else because all the testing data from guys like Webber and Porsche's general test drivers conclusively support that conclusion. I would be surprised if you yourself Brian didnt echo Mark webber's sentiments.
+Dodi Memi Those are two different driving experiences, plus sound is subjective. Both sound great. Drive them both and let us know which one you chose!
i have a question. i know this car and the new corvette zo6 arent rivals but which car do you personally like more. why does this car still cost more than the vette? is it better built? how can the price difference be justified? thanks in advance
I love your reviews Brian. Your team is awesome. Great editing. I don't know what Porsche's hard-on is with phasing out the manual, but its the dumbest thing they can do imo. Autos have their place but not in a Porsche. That would be the only reason that would stop me from buying a GT3. So I await to see if the roomers of a manual Cayman GT4 are true or not. If you want an automatic buy a FUCKING BUICK...lol.... Subscribed btw. Jay.
Thanks, Jay! I wouldn't be so hard on Porsche. Customers are demanding it, and when they've got a box as good as the PDK, it's no surprise. Every sports car and exotic car maker is facing the same pressure from customers who won't or, probably more often than not, can't drive a manual. It's blokes like us who enjoy shifting ourselves that are going to be disappointed, unfortunately. Personally, I can't wait to see the GT4! The Cayman GTS I drove in Germany was awesome (since it had a better spec than we can get here).
Nick Busato It would not be just for me, clearly i am not the only person to have thought this... dont get me wrong, it would benefit both parties to be able to enjoy the video in higher quality...
720P was used for a while on the channel since the video output on the Nikon D3s was limited to that. The lower resolution also allowed for more freedom in stabilization, cropping and also a boost in sharpness due to down sampling. With that said anything that gets pushed though my edit suit will now be at 1080 and a much higher bitrate than before. The aston v12 vantage roadster that will go live in a few moments will be the first project to feature it. Some older projects you will see in the future will not feature this as they were shot and edited on the older software and gear. So long as the channel continues to grow at a high rate, I will be able to justify a dedicated 4k camera. This is not to say I will ever upload in 4k, but it shoots at a higher bitrate and downsampling to 1080 makes for a mental sharp image.
this chanel is so underrated. Great editing work and great reviews, I hope this channel continues to grow
Thanks! We're growing...slowly...
Me too! Its hard starting out but as more viewership continues to flow our way it will not only grow the channel but also our ability to make said videos.
Beautiful car and great to see you at the track Brian!
Thanks, Robtastic! I know you could see I was having fun!
I bought a 2015 Carrera GTS Cab to drive on the windy curvy amazing mountain roads that I live on with ocean views and this car is just amazing fun. Brian everything you said about the car is true and then some. Forget the track, this car is made for those windy curvy roads that Porsches just love.
Cheers, Mark. Great choice.
What an outstanding review and channel! Im going to have to vheck out your other vids now too
Thanks! More Porsche reviews coming soon.
Great review, delivered in a non-hysterical fashion.
Thanks - and thank you for subscribing! Hysterical seems to get more views, it seems.
Thanks Brian, Nice review. I ordered my 2015 911 GTS in mid March and it is due to be delivered at the end of May.. I ordered w PDK and just a few other options. I thought the nav screen was cracked at first @ 1:22 !! Nice video !
Thanks! This was a rush job, undoubtedly, and we hope it came out as intended.
I'd get it with the sportsdesign package, glass roof, manual, bose audio, non GTS alcantara interior, 18 way seats with heat and cool, and standard rims
Interesting spec. Have you hear the Burmester sound system? That's my favourite Porsche option.
I've heard both and I don't think the Burmester is worth the extra 3,500 dollars, even in a car this expensive
Jack White I have Burmester on my C2S right now,....expensive, but money very well spent. It is one of my favorite options, it is simply that awesome.
I will admit it's a big departure from the standard audio system, but the Bose system gets you all of the same features apart from the subwoofer, and I see it as not having that big a sound difference...and when the Bose is about 1,500 and the Burmester is about 5,200 I expect a bigger difference in sound
Awesome channel, hey Brian Makse , what are your thoughts on how the GTS compares to the Vantage GT you drove a few months ago?
"Perfection" is the only word that can describe this car.
It's close, perhaps a 9 out of 10, but try here for a real 10: The Porsche 911 By Singer Vehicle Design: An Exercise In Extravagance
We do our best to showcase great engine sounds where we can, but it doesn't always work out. Thanks for watching!
I just brought one. What a fantastic car! I will track it at Sebring with Henry Gilbert Performance Driving on March 26, and again with PCA Driver's Ed on April 16th.
+Ed Maguire Brilliant. Nothing makes your car faster than good training for the driver!
+Brian Makse And it's a ton of fun to boot!
Great review Brian!
Nice review Hoser.
Awesome video man. subscribed
+KhanCept Thanks! If you liked this one, you'll love Tuesday's vid!
Brian, great review! Trade a boxster GTS (2015) with PDK for a 911 GTS with a manual?
WINNING ! Porsche is nr, 1 ! Very good test
Sure does look good.

Awesome review. Thanks!
great introduction!
Thanks, Tim!
How about a few clips of the car actually sliding. I want to see video of the car sliding and you pulling it back in.
Thanks for you support of our Patreon and our merch store!
great video, im loving the new 911 carrera gts.
Awesome relaxed Review!
Great review! Beuatiful car!
Thanks, Martin!
Beautiful.
We were impressed.

Thank you! Very informative!

Thats true. I know Porsche is doing it because of demand but I DON'T WIKE IT...lmao.
Long live the likes of you and I Brian..lol
Jay Irrera Indeed, Jay! A word of warning...our next two films feature dual clutch transmissions...
***** Actually an auto will run faster 1/4 mile and track times. Autos are just boring imo.
Brian Makse That blows...lmao.
Need this car!!
Almost everyone does!
Beautiful car!
The black wheels and small details do really set it apart from the normal 911 eh!
And beautiful sound!
What's the music
It's all composed for this channel by our man Russell.
You can find the opening piece here: russellsoares.bandcamp.com/album/music-for-cars

Great Video
Thanks!
I think that I would like to have one. Period.
We can appreciate that.
720p?? you really need to upgrade...
Mate, we've been on the road since we shot this and worked hard to get this out today. Nice job slagging us when we're otherwise busting our asses.
I wonder how much people bother to watch stuff in 1080. I know that I don't bother but perhaps our viewers can chime in.
For whats its worth the next video review that will be posted tomorrow will be in 1080 for your viewing pleasure.

"If driving is your thing" ok, if driving isn't your thing you shouldn't be looking at this car with either transmission. Just saying.
