I prefer the silver wheels. Every car seems to have all black wheels and it ends up looking like a black hole where you can’t see where the rim ends and tire starts
Before black or dark wheels became popular, I remember saying they would look so much better in my opinion. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to silver. Def not chrome. I like the black hole look. Looks meaner.
Maybe I’m weird (I’m ok with that), but I prefer non-black wheels. The problem with a black wheel and black tires is they just turn into a black blob with no separation. I think your silver wheels look fantastic. 🔥🤙🏻 If you really want to,keep the black wheels…try adding a yellow pinstripe around the lip. Just that little detail will make those wheels stand out so much more.
I have the Continental DWS06+ on both of my Porsches, a 991.1 Turbo S and a 991.2 Carrera 4s and I run them year round in NJ and PA. Great tires. For those doubting the performance, in 37 degree weather my mildly modded (tune and exhaust) 991.1 Turbos S in 37 degree weather did a 1.61 60' time and consistently does 1.6 60' times and 2.6 0-60s in any weather on unprepped streets. Keep up the great reviews!
Bro, the problem with all season tires is at lower temps the rubber hardens. Reducing your traction and breaking distances, EVEN on clear pavement. It's a temperature issue, not a snow issue. Winter tires have a much softer compound that STAYS soft in cold temps. That's why you should have winter tires. Cheers
Haha silver looks good, but definitely agree with Jeff on the gunmetal. Ever try the Michelin a/s 4+? But better grip in the dry than the dws. Although I’ve found the dws to be better in the snow.
I totally agree with you. If you like a Porsche and own one but you don't drive aggressive than all weather tire is good choice. Relatively cheap to maintain and get rid of all that road noise well and they don't pick up and throw all road breed onto your paint!
I also prefer the silver wheels. The black wheels just blend in and make it look like a black hole in the wheel-well. With silver you can see the design and it makes the car look more expensive.
Huge fan of the Conti's!!! I have a Mini Cooper S that I use them on. I will put snow tires on for the hard core winter months (living in Mass) because I'll drive it in just about anything. Otherwise, the Conti's are great outside of that. Even in the summer months, I get great grip in the wet and the dry. For my Porsche Cayman S, if I were to drive it in the winter, I'd use the Conti's on it!! I think the silver wheels for winter will make for a little variety, and still look good!!!
I experienced wheel skipping in front wheels at low turning, dealership blamed summer tires. 2021 911 i found bumping skip very off putting on such a vehicle. Sales rep recommended all seasons
I spent a lot of money for a set of snow tires and wheels. I wish I had thought about all season tires because I never drive my 991 in the snow. Not only I wasted money, I hate having to swap wheels every winter.
I don’t have personal experience with it, but others I’ve met have mentioned that AP calipers and hardware have virtually no corrosion resistance to salt water and salted roads. Just food for thought if they salt the roads in your area.
MASSIVE fan of the DWS06! I ran them on my E46 M3 and my 435i in the snow. For an all season they are definitely capable. My P car will not get the same treatment.. She's going into hibernation..LOL
so how did you like the tires? I am thinking of this same tire but my climate is only "cold" for about a month out of the year. I live in texas. and will be replacing my 991.1 C2S tires soon. I don't track the car.
The DWS06+ are my go to all seasons. We're almost running the same sizes ex cent I have a peasant 2018 340i M Sport. I'm running 245/35 20s in front and 285/30 20s for the rear. Two tone gray and darker gray would also look nice, like gunmetal. Did you notice the rear with the Contis makes the diameter look smaller than with the darker wheel and the Michelins. Maybe it's just the lighting hitting the shoulder of the tire.
Supposedly a real winter compound performs better than all seasons under 45 or so. The issue for me is tread instability they just feel squirmy. Still even on cold dry roads you are better off with real winter tires.
Black all day…. Such a meaner look. Silver looks too tame to me. I don’t think I can go back. For this car, the only color that works is black but yea you should do something different over winter. My goal on my g80 order is to get rid of any silver whatsoever. Everything dark and stealth. And I have to say, I appreciate you driving these cars in all seasons. My father had a 911 that was his only car. And I mean that in the sense it was his car in Arizona and when we moved to the Philly area, he didn’t care… he was driving the same 911-snow, sleet and all.
Great choice with the conti’s. They are an excellent performing tire in cold weather and great value. I probably would have chosen gray wheels like the T comes standard with, but still looks good regardless 👍🏼
i generally hate black wheels as you can’t make out the design. In that case, why even bother picking a design as you won’t see it anyways, just darkness. I have a Tesla Model 3 Performance with the black 20” Ubers. Ditching those for a set of 19” bright silver OEM Sport wheels. Look way better with red calipers with the blue paint of the car. With the black wheels, it sometimes appears my wheels were stolen of the car as you can’t see them. BTW, I love your Carrera T. I plan on getting one soon and yellow looks really good! An NSX owner but that I will never sell for any other car. That stays with me.
It's not about being a Porsche purist or not, I am not one. But as a 991 owner and having other cars, I know all season tires just do not perform well in ANY condition, they suck in the summer and they suck in the winter (and you don't need snow, it's about rubber temperature vs. their "softness" and their adhesion capabilities, it's physics). And this is true on any car. Now on a 911, having all season tires feels just inappropriate imho. It does not perform, period. Plus if the 911 is equipped with rear axle steering, the tires must be compliant, none are in the all-season category. 911 means summer tires and winter tires. This purist thing is not accurate, it's just safety basics and you are wrong with your snow theory, you don't need snow to justify winter tires, it's about surface temperature. Now that I got my 2 cents out of my system (sorry), I wanted to say I love your channel and I am enjoying your videos, keep it up! And nice Carrera T! Greetings from the west coast! 🙂
You just put me though a lot of emotions haha. But at the end I agree. No rear axle steer for me. And I’m super happy with these tires’ winter performance. So far so good!
