I wrote out the instructions for those with experience reading patterns. I recommend watching the video instead, if you are not familiar with written terminology. This is in US terms, same as the video.
    ABBREVIATIONS:
rep from *to * - repeat the previous steps within the asterisks
    ch - chain
tch - turning chain (in this pattern, the tch counts as the first stitch in each row)
    sk - skip
    SC - single crochet
    DC - double crochet
    FOUNDATION FOR STITCH:
ch a multiple of 12, plus 17 (adjust the multiple of 12 depending on your desired width).
If you are working this stitch off of an existing piece/row, the row you're working from should have the following number of stitches: a multiple of 12, plus 15. Then, instead of working into the 4th ch to start R1 (as in the original pattern), you should ch 2 (counts as first DC of row), then continue the pattern as normal (i.e. work DC for the rest of R1, and so on). This is not explained in the video, I'm just saying this from my own knowledge/experience.
    DRAGONFLY STITCH:
0:16 R1: DC in the 4th ch from the hook, DC until the end of the row
1:14 R2: ch 2 and turn work (this is how you will do your tch for each row), skip tch (counts as first DC), DC 2, *DC 4, ch 1, sk 1, DC 7 *, rep from * to * until the end of the row.
3:54 R3: tch (2), skip tch, DC 2, *DC, ch 3, sk 3, SC 1 in ch 1 space from previous row, ch 3, sk 3, DC 4 *, rep from * to * until the end of the row.
6:40 R4: tch (2), skip tch, DC 2, *ch 4, skip 1 st AND ch 3 space, SC 1 in SC from previous row, ch 4, skip ch 3 space AND 1 st, DC 3 *, rep from * to * until the end of the row.
9:12 R5: tch (2), skip tch, DC 2, *DC 4 in ch 4 space, DC 1 in SC from previous row, DC 4 in ch 4 space, DC 3 *, rep from * to * until the end of the row.
12:13 R6: tch (2), skip tch, DC until end of the row
Rep rows R2 through R6 to continue the stitch until your desired length :)
Just as a quick aside: I had no problem following the instructions in this video! Every step was very clear to me. I just wanted to write it out both for my own reference, and for people who may find it easier to follow a written pattern and would benefit from having it typed out. I hope someone finds this helpful!!!

hello! it's been over a year since you posted this comment, so i'm not sure if you'll still find this information useful, but essentially:
the instruction is to chain a *multiple* of 12, plus 17 more chains. stitch patterns are worded this way so you can customize the length you want-for example, if you want a longer piece, then you would use a larger multiple of 12, but if you want a smaller piece, you would use a smaller multiple of 12. the reason a multiple of 12 is specified is because of the number of stitches you need to complete a full dragonfly stitch; if you don't use a multiple of 12, your row will end with an unfinished dragonfly stitch (i.e. the row will not end with a completed stitch; instead, the dragonfly will be partially finished and result in an uneven edge). the additional 17 account for the extra stitches bordering the work on the far left and right edge (a few stitches at the start and end of each row), among other things-it's kind of complicated to explain fully, but just know that the 17 additional are necessary and play an important role in the pattern!

So for row 2, it'd be better to say DC 4 ch 1 sk 1 [DC 11 ch1 sk 1] the way its said and written is odd.
