Thanks for saving me from a boring afghan. These stitches ARE easy and fast but look very pretty!
Hi... This is the first channel that explains so much... Size of needle to yarn for different effects. Thanks so much. I always get into such a pickle with that. Looking forward to making this blanket...it looks lovely
You are so welcome! Thank you for taking time to watch and comment!
You are easy to follow and take your time!!!!!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it.
I have fallen in love. And with your Afghan and teaching. I was looking for afghan-blanket for my soon to be one year GREAT
GRANDSON's birthday. This will be perfect. Thank you and BE BLESSED.
Wonderful!
I love the way you calmly explain each stitch and how the pattern works.
Thank you very much. 🇦🇺🇦🇺
You are so kind and thank you!! I’m glad you enjoyed it!!
@@kellyreneeverydayhello, I hope you are having a blessed day. I have a question if I may? I have Ben crocheting for most of my 51 years of 59. Well a few ladies in the 55+ park want to learn it and I would be honored to know if I can use some of your videos for them to reference when they go home and want to continue by themselves? Do you have any videos for a beginner?
@@christinedonahue2102Hi, click on the name of her channel name and you will see a heading called 'Playlists'. You will find a beginners series, washcloth series, etc, etc. Hoping that helps.
@@kellyreneeveryday Yes, this is a wonderful tutorial, thank you so much!
I just found you, and I must say I am loving this pattern! I am self taught and I'm learning new stitches. Loving it!!

You are a wonderful teacher and this is a great video. I love how you repeat each step over and over. I find that I learn best with this method of teaching. I have been crocheting for many years but I consider myself an advanced beginner! I love the basic stitches and I love tutorials on just the basics. Thank you for sharing and demonstrating your knowledge so clearly!! ❤❤
You are so welcome!
This one of my most favorite stitch pattern. I've made rugs, potholders, dishclothes, & blankets using this stitch pattern.
Yes, this is my go to Stich and usually the one that I start with. Thank you for taking time to watch and comment here. I really appreciate it.

Working on my 1st blanket, and thanks to you and my patient daughter I feel Great about the progress😁, oh yeah!! and thanks for showing how to join my ends🙋🏽♀️👏🏾👏🏾
Beginner and trying new stitches. I love this one. Your instructions are easy to follow. Making a scarf first. Next…the baby blanket!!! Thank you.
Wonderful! Thank you so much for watching!
Love the look of these two stiches together. Definitely looks easy enough to do! Also, LOVE the colors of the yarn. Thanks for sharing!
Thx for taking a look Polly!!
I’ve been using Susan Bates hooks for most of the 58 years I’ve been crocheting and I love that it rarely splits my yarn. Thank You.
Susan Bates are my go-to!! Love them. Thx so much for taking time to watch and comment. I really appreciate it!
So very true. I started Susan Bates in 1969. I was in the 4th grade. My classmate taught me how to crochet. Woolworth was where, I bought my first hook.
I use bates and clover the gold color
I like the lettered hooks, bates,of course!
Pretty pattern. I love that Caron Cakes colorway too. Thanks for sharing.😊
You are so welcome! All the colors are so pretty!
Thank you for this lovely pattern.

Wonderful! I'm so glad you enjoyed the tutorial. I can't wait to see your final result!!
Hi Kelly, l am relatively new to crocheting, l found you whilst scrolling through UA-cam video tutorials… l have subscribed to your channel, l love how you explain every step of the way, and how you explain how it progresses. Also feels like you’re here teaching a one and one…so relaxing ..thank you for your time and beautiful projects xx💕
Oh thank you! This means so much and I really appreciate your subscribing... stay tuned for more :)
Wow, I love the colors too. I haven’t crochet in 20 years. Thanks for getting me back into it.
You are so welcome! I'm so glad you found this helpful.
First time seeing site! Love the way you share how to make the afghan. You completely show how much you enjoy and love crocheting💕 thank you!
This is so kind. Thank you!!
2:49 I have been making a similar striped afghan, changing colors every row. One side is lined up perfectly the other not so. Is there a way to manually decrease some of the beginning row edges to line up evenly with the others? I plan on putting an edge around the entire afghan.
@valeriekeith44081
Sounds like you are missing stitches somewhere along the row. Two hints: put a stitch marker in the first stitch & last stitch on each row. A short piece of scrap yarn will work. Count the stitches as you complete each row. Every row should always be the same number as you had after finishing your Single Crochet base row. I know, I know - it’s a real pain.! But I still do this with each new project until I am sure I have it down-pat and that’s 50++ years of crocheting.
The stitch you are likely missing is the slip stitch as it is hard to see. Try working it a bit looser each time. Also, it is easier to remember that with each new row worked you will be putting a Half Double into the Slip stitch and a Slip Stitch into the Half Double on the row below. If you are having trouble seeing the Slip Stitch gently pull your work to the side - the Slip Stitch is the one with a tiny little V. Tilt your work toward you & you will see the sideways teardrop of the Slip Stitch. That is where you insert your hook to make the Half Double. If you are still having difficulty, search UA-cam with the phrase “crochet Crunch Stitch” (that’s the more common name).
My early projects came with a lot of frogging (rip it, rip it, rip it all out). I know you CAN do this.!!!
Beautiful! Susan Bates are my favorite hooks. 😊
They are so worth the extra money!!
@@kellyreneeverydayCan you please tell me where your website is?
Yes, that hook looks really good ✅ I must try and find one ☝️
@kellyreneeveryday I totally agree with you. My daughter brought one over and some yarn to teach me a new stitch. When I tried her Susan Bates crochet hook, I was stunned at how much better I liked it than mine of the same size. It handles like a charm. I just recently replaced all of my own Boye hooks out for the Susan Bates hooks! And the funny thing was that she didn't even know that she had a SB hook, nor where it came from! 😂 We all learn from each other ❤
You bring such clarity to your instructions! I appreciate your teaching method! Helps me greatly to understand each step.
THANK YOU 💜
This is such a kind comment…thank you so much. I really appreciate you taking time to watch.
It's actually the even moss stitch.
I'm going to start an afghan today using this stitch. Your instructions were very easy to follow. Thanks

Love the yarn color way. Got them from $6.99 a cake at Michael’s online today 👍🏻
Thank you for the pattern ❤
I’m there right now picking up more!!
Hi Michaela: I see you have purchased the lovely yarn. Can you please tell me if the Buttercream that you got matches the colors in the video? the Michael's site shows a much paler color. I am currently overseas and would not want to order if the color is not what I would expect. Thank you so much for helping me with this..
@@aminaelsadr947I received it yesterday. It looks the same. I will work some up and let you know!! 👍🏻💜
@@aminaelsadr947 it definitely seems softer in colors not as dark but still sooooo beautiful and this stitch is perfect for this yarn. I’m using an 8 (M) Furls Odyssey and I love it 🥰
@@Crochetedbymichi Thanks a mil..🙏
Thank you for the tutorial! I am loving this combination of stitches.
You are so welcome! You made my day! Thank you for taking the time to watch!!
Very clear instructions. Until now, I didn't realise the better or more expensive hooks, were better as they don't split the wool. I thought it was just a preference, more money to outlay, and that the cheaper hooks work just as well. I am more the wiser, thank you.
I’m so glad you liked it. The Susan Bate’s hooks are what I like best and I feel for the extra dollar or two, it is with it. There still is a level of personal preference too…😊
Great advice about practice to get consistent. My first crochet project was a afghan and it turned out in a trapezoid shape just because of the tension of my stitching. Lol
Thank you for watching! Yes, Ive been there. Washclothes aren’t ‘sexy’ projects, but they give you great practice.
Beautiful color choice, it looks so soft and comfy 🥰
Thank you! 🤗 I'm so glad you like it.
Just now subscribed to your channel. Can’t wait to learn a ton more stitches. I’ve been crocheting since 1968, but I love to find channels that really teach. Thanks!

Thank you so much!
Beautiful work Kelly!
Thank you so much for taking time to watch…im glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for the explanation about how using a different size hook can change the drape of the final Afghan. Being new to Crochet I thought you had to use the hook on the label 😊
Glad it was helpful! and yes, the label is a great place to start, but depending on the final 'feel' you want, going bigger on the hook makes the final work less stiff.
Colleen, I thought that too!! It's great to have a teacher who explains things so well, even down to our choice and size of hook!! Happy crocheting!!
I just found your channel and I am “hooked”! You are a great teacher. Easy to follow and listen to. Thank you!
