I first got introduced to morrowind with my 2 step siblings. The 3 of us would take 1 hour turn each of gameplay but we learned so much playing together. I fondly recall that after our hour of gameplay was up and we were in a town, we'd allow a quicksave and extra time to go on a rampage and kill every npc in sight. Lol
We played like this for so long that all our characters reached levels in the 60s.
My first character was a boring imperial, my step sis a khajiit, and step brother an argonian.
Learning and playing the game together was amazing! Esp since it was before modern internet on the slowest ever dialup crap.
Watching your vids brings me back and it's like a 5% you are there with us watching you learn the game aside us.
It brings back all the memories of finding things out or getting lost and spending so long trying to find where to go.
I love morrowind so much and I've put many many hours into it.

I suggest you go to Samarys Ancestral Tomb, its NorthWest of Seyda-Neen. Inside, in the deepest part of the tomb you will find a ring called Mentor's Ring. It has a constant effect of boosting your intelligence and willpower by 10 points and its unrelated to any side quest, so you can just pick it up. Very good item for begginers, especially mages.

Also if you go to Falas Ancestral Tomb it is located south of town called Gnisis on the western river bank very close to water. Inside you will find Denstagmer's Ring, it has a constant effect of 30% resistance to fire, frost and shock so its very helpfull. Also unrelated to any quest, its just there for grabs.

I really like the narration style you do for these videos.
    - on your journey you make come across books with high sell value, usually over 200 gold, these are the skill books.
    - in spell making over time effects are usually are more magicka effecient than at onve effect, for example 5 damage over 10 seconds is more effecient than 50 damage at once, so it good to have both types.
    - diffirent factions usually sell diffirent types of spells, Mage's guilds sell good mix of all but mostly offensive, mobility or support spells and the temple and imperial cult sells more peneficial spells like healing and buffs with some others mixed in.
    - since you have restoration skill one spell i suggest you to make eventually is one that restores your attributes, easiest way to make it is to got to Balmora temple on its top floor is a NPC that sells one of the restore attribute spells, buy it and then spellmake a one that restores all of your attributes for some amount. Its not fun to have to load your game because you are in a dungeon and getting one your attributes damaged to 0 and no way to restore them on you.

Since you're playing with Spear as your main weapon skill, you might want to toggle "Use Best Attack" on. If you don't, you're going to keep making non-thrust attacks unless you keep moving forward and back when you fight.

Morrowind has directional attacks, so you'll want to move either forwards or backwards while charging an attack with your spear to do a thrust attack. Thrust attacks with spears deal by far the most damage. You can see the damage for each type of directional attack in your inventory.
For the record, you do a slash attack by moving left or right and you do a chop attack by staying stationary or moving diagonally while charging an attack. It's such a cool system - if a bit clunky - that would later evolve into Oblivion and Skyrim's directional power attack system.
Edit: I should mention that there is a "Use best attack" option in the game options that will automatically, for example, use a thrust for spears regardless of how youre moving. I don't recommend using this, as it gives you less control and subjectively is less fun but most of the community probably uses this feature. It's kind of an "easy way out" type of feature.
Edit 2: Aha I see you discovered the directional attacks in your experimentation. Good on you!

One of the most compelling parts of the story for me is starting out as a regular outlander and then working your way to becoming the Nerevarine. Oblivion and Skyrim really cheesed me out by their approach of setting you as the main protagonist basically at the beginning of the respective games.

If you find a book called the Pilgrim's Path, reading it will start a quest to complete various religious pilgrimages to different shrines. One of which will explain the origins of the floating rock outside the Vivec temple. The scrolls of Icarian Flight are how people speedrun this game in like 2 minutes. The top of the tower in the Caldera Mage's Guild has a full set of really decent alchemy gear that you can grab for free. Also you can use the Mage's Guild to teleport to other Mage Guilds in other cities, much like the Silt Striders or the gondola boats, but each system links a different set of cities, although some cities have access to multiple different transport methods. Racer plumes and trama root can be used to make levitation potions, which can be very helpful when exploring if you get stuck on rocks or somesuch. Or exploring hard to reach areas in caves that have mummies with interesting loot. People very much don't like you if you are infected diseases, and being afflicted can damage your stats including your disposition for dialogue. Spamming low mana cost spells is really about the only way to practice most schools of magic. Never feel ashamed about doing so.

Switching to a spear is a good counter, but you could try the spell summon spear. Summoned weapons are basically deadric in terms of damage, and they buff the relevant weapon stat so you can hit easier with it

One thing that is often overlooked in Morrowind is the pacing. I hated how Oblivion and Skyrim had this "the end is coming hurry!" feel to it. It breaks the immersion when you want to furnish a house whilst the Mythic Dawn is furiously searching for the last heir to the throne. Morrowind stops between major plot points and gives you permission to do the random crap on your to do list
Ald Skarr is the remains of a giant crab that used to terrorise the inhabitants. A market complex has been built inside it
If you want a handy destruction spell, drain health on touch is great if you know how. Drain temporary damage to health (the damage goes away after the specified time) and can make a good finishing move. Make the spell high magnitude and low duration on touch this will save on cast costs. Weaken an enemy in combat and when they're ready BAM. Touch of death
Small tip. Endurance is best invested into early. It governs HP increase PER LEVEL. It's not game ending but it helps
Might be worth talking to a guard about those assassins. After you report it to a guy in Ebonheart they will stop (it's DLC that presumes you have finished the main game)
One of the best things about Morrowind is the (miniscule) amount of level scaling. It's great that you never know if you will get into a fight you can't finish while exploring. My favourite memories of this game come from going somewhere and finding I'm out of my depth, cheese a way through, and find OP loot
The House Dagoth stuff is really good. Not sure if you are familiar with cosmic horror or H.P Lovecraft's work, but they have a lot in common. A read of the in game book series "The Poison Song" is a must if you are interested

Iron, Steel, Chitin, Wood, and Adamantium are all considered "natural" materials, and therefore can't harm Spirit enemies. Silver has been considered a "blessed" material in MANY different lores, a lot of which draw from various religions for that concept. One of the most controversial representations of this is actually the concept of the betrayal by Judas, from Christian religious lore, leading to his soul being damned by God, and his greed being a curse upon him, so the silver he betrayed Jesus for would burn his flesh, and he was scorched and scorned by his "Radiance," being the sun.
In short, while Silver is a naturally occurring metal, it is believed to be holy and blessed, and thus not Mundane, making it one of the most common means of harming phantoms, beasts, and other supernatural beings.

Levitate is usually one of my most used spells. I find it useful for getting over the foyadas, but it comes with encountering every cliff racer, lol! I swear, the Neravarine should be credited as much as St. Jiib when it comes to those flying pests!
On a side note, I think almost all male Nords in Morrowind are shirtless. They find it too hot compared to Skyrim.

so when it comes to the flight scrolls, it’s better to use the spell version of it, I believe you can make a combo spell of flight and slow fall at the mages guild once you get access to the spell creator at the guild, or at minimum carry a slow fall spell and apply it before or during the use of your flight scrolls, the slow fall spell will negate all fall damage from your flight scroll leaps
    also
that speedy guy on the road? Is speedy because that NPC wears boots that increase his speed by a lot, but at the cost of 100 points of blindness, he’s actually fairly useful for leveling up your sneak because you never fail your sneak check around him, you can also wear the boots and there’s ways to get around the blindness by cheesing the game a bit using a breton and some other means of negating spell effects

Spamming training spells is a good strat (not really controversial). Using spellmaking in Mages Guild to make a 1point spell specifically for training is also encouraged.
Every successful cast increases the skill the same amount, so spamming weak spells to train is the usual way to do it.

And perhaps they would absentmindedly practice these training exercises during long days of travel on the road, to stay sharp/perfect their spellcasting 🧑‍🎓

That is also the reason I got that one mod for New Vegas that lets you pick up NPCs and move them elsewhere, and for why I got the Fallout 4 mod that lets you straight up push people away. (which might not might not be used in combat, the mod has settings for who you can push and also how much push force and the maximum distance to activate it)

spamming spells cannot be controversial; most just use trainers funded by the earnings the dark brotherhood keeps delivering so willingly (bless their kindness).
getting around npcs can be a pain but you can turn 90 degrees and run at them sideways; you take up less space that way.
the bonus points on level up are based off of what you recently leveled; as such people tend to use training to force larger bonuses and be the best they can be.
absorb spells can help with recovering missing fatigue from running to increase your casting success rate (which can be seen by the bar underneath the spell icon).
also idk if i have ever seen you try a lockpick; you equip them in Morrowind then stab the door; same with probes (imagine if you had to do this with the keys too).
(unrelated; it is bizarre to see the game without the graphics extender view distance; gonna make avoiding cliff racers a treat XD)
