Nah, this is the most useless way. At least other games have afk rooms that can have bonuses to give you for the main game and multiple possible games to reap multiple payouts.
Only thing this game does is make that lazy as hell, with no true purpose or effort behind it aside monetary gain - even when gambling, you're gambling for money. In SRNG, you're playing for "free" (Your electricity bill is gonna bite you later), but you also earn nothing substantial, except gambling on the fact that those auras may be sold with accounts in the future.

It's noteworthy to mention some of the auras' designs are blatant ripoffs of designs from a decently popular sandbox mining game called REx: Reincarnated, which is also technically in the RNG/gambling category.
And it's because of that along with things mentioned in this video that many REx community members despise Sol's RNG.

As a retired Sol's RNG player, I completely agree with you. As for my motivation, simply put:
1. Friends. Competing with your friends on whoever got a better aura really motivates you to play the game
2. The anticipation. I usually AFK then go to school (I don't AFK overnight cause housefire + electric bills) and it helps motivate me to finish school and come back to check if I got something rare. It's kinda similar to waiting an ordered items on the internet to delivered to you.
There might be more reason as to why I play the game in the first place, but after a while the dopamine just go away

I remember all the way in 2016 the plaza was one of the most popular games on the platform and they had a version of gambling and it instantly got hit by a warning from the moderation team and they had to change it so kids wouldn't get addicted to it. @@vacantile By FAR the biggest source of income for roblox developers is from this roblox feature called “premium payouts” (I think thats what its called) where for every like 10 minutes a player with roblox premium spends on their game, they get like 100 robux.
Gamepasses and other things you buy with robux hardly give developers anything at all since roblox takes a massive chunk of the robux made.

I think the lucky rolls are part of the addiction, because you'd think that after the next lucky spin you might get a rare aura, and basically its another layer to the gambling. It's like having a pachinko machine that every 10 spins get VERY VERY slightly smaller.

one of the main reasons people play rng games is because they are fascinated by the idea of getting something extremely rare when they first join and being able to flex on others. since u can possibly roll a 1 in 250 mil from when u first ever start playing the game, it makes you think like "what if I get the 250 mil when i only have such little rolls" so you stay and keep playing.
all the gameplay is just "What if I get [Aura you need] very soon? I can't quit!" and then it goes on and on and on and on until eventually you will not take it anymore and quit the game.

I find it quite incredible how this game has gotten as popular as it has, and I'm glad someone has finally taken the time to draw the connections between literal gambling psychology and the increasingly predatory gameplay mechanics that are being normalized on Roblox in order to lure in children. I know you might miss this comment, but props to you for going out of your way to make this video.
Two things I will say are:
1. Maybe put the actual names of the channels that publish the videos you use in your video? I know it wouldn't take that much more effort to do but checking the description for the playlist just to find one video publisher seems like an unnecessary step.
2. I wish you really stopped and took the time to go more in depth on this subject, as this seems a bit surface level beyond just putting pictures of Sol's RNG gameplay on the screen while other people talk about the thing you just mention (especially the near misses bit-- you introduce how the game implements them *before* playing the clip that explains what they are?)
Other than that, this is a stellar video, and I look forward to seeing more videos from you in this "mini-video essay" format. Cheers!

But I still think you're doing a good job of crediting your sources. As for the near misses bit, name-dropping near misses, showing the video clip as an explanation, and then relating it to Sol's RNG would be the best way of explaining it in my eyes. its me in 2:12 , its an honor appearing in this video hehe btw i'll give my opinion : i took a pause from the game because its not updating and because its extremely boring rn, i just generally chill with the ppl at discord and talk to them, the game doesn't have much but rolling and trying to get new auras while pvp games have cool mechanics and cool effects, and fighting. the game needs to be creative and add something exotic (what roblox devs cant do) but i still have some hope in this game.

one thing that can make simulators really popular is that there are 2 communitys: people who hates simulators, and people who love them. arguing helps the player stay ingame to finish an argument. if one from the people who hate simulators community joins of these games, arguments will start and will keep everyone hooked into the game. but even then, this is just a small part of what makes a simulator big.
If there's anything that provides a decently sized sample for proving that the average IQ of a person is getting drastically lower, it's definitelly Sol's RNG.

the growth and success of sols rng makes me worry for the roblox platform. like have you seen the sheer amount of new "rng" games popping up in such a small amount of time? because of the way roblox works, all that we will have in the roblox front page will be glorified, bland afk simulators. and im saying this like as if roblox wasnt as bad as it already is! underrated, good games from devs who put effort and time into making their game will not be known and all there will be is (there already is) cash grabs that roblox will put on the front page because it makes the most revenue for them

Most players seem to cope that the game is fine and it's not a big deal by how they always confess they are addicted with a ironic joke, wonder how these people will turn out in the future.. it seems it goes for most roblox games though, children will just eat up anything that gives them a slightly bit of ecstasy sometimes and spend endless time on it regardless of it's quality, i suppose it's the same as when i used to think some movies i watched as a child were perfect till when i grew up and found out it was the opposite.

I don't want to be the one defending sol's rng right now even though I play it, I know it barely qualifies as a game, but the reason why some of us avoid serious pvp games is because they get insanely competitive. Even the games with the most abusable mechanics can get so many toxic players with god/superiority complexes. Take fakewoken (deepwoken copy focused on verse 1 combat only) as an example of a game with good mechanics but an extremely toxic player base for example. Arguably playing something that doesn't require a single braincell is better than playing something that makes you wanna tear out every braincell you have one by one. The only issue with sol's rng is the possibility of causing a gambling addiction.

Electricity is extremely expensive (you wouldn't tell until you look at the electricity bill.....brrr) and it's not like multiplayer games (or competitive ones to be specific) are ur one and only choice, there are many amazing games that don't require 0.000001 ping and a gaming pc from the future to have fun with.
@@mr.ddhemmalshehri5611 yeah u're right, i just don't have any good ideas on what to play because i've exhausted basically all casual games my shitty pc can actually run. i'm probably quitting soon and moving to playing elemental battlegrounds and ultrakill until i find something decent. on terms with the electricity thing, i set up an old laptop with a shitty duo core 1ghz processor and integrated graphics to run the game, so i believe it wastes less electricity.. i wish windows had the feature of turning your builtin screen off entirely like some linux distros do, though.

I haven’t joined a server in that game without seeing someone macro in years. Difference with sol’s rng is that automatic playing is built into the game.

i feel like Sol's RNG is just a successor to that really old game called "I dont feel so good simulator" where you practically do the same thing.
Personally i do remark sol's as gambling, though the principle is "Spending something for a chance to get something better or worse," completely applies, due to the thing you are spending is your own time and happiness, personally I avoid this game at all costs due to it being super harming, and my friends just cant get off it, I've tried many times but half of my friends are playing this game nomatter the circumstances. The worst part is that the things you get after blood... and tears (no sweat) is a cool effect around your character, that maybe has music too? Sol’s RNG is the culmination of every problem I have with Roblox slowly growing over the years. What happened to the games? More and more, it feels like we’re being given parts of a game rather than an actual one. A new battlegrounds game that feels like a demo, a new horror game that’s mostly just walking, an actual somewhat innovative game immediately forgotten. Not to mention the gachas that powercreep faster than actual gacha games. And Sol’s RNG isn’t just a fraction of a game, it’s literally nothing.
Am I expecting too much from Roblox? Yeah. But it’s been years and the average popular developer’s skill is so much higher than it was 5 years ago. I just want games back on Roblox, not experiences.
