Classic Roblox Games: How Are They Doing?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 17 тра 2024
- This video looks at how the games of Roblox’s past have changed, for better or for worse. Describing the process of revamping or “modernizing” a work of older art, and analyzing just how certain developers have reached the point they’re in.

kinda disappointed there weren't that many classic games in the Roblox classic event instead of the * skibidi toilet tower defense created in 2023 *
But the oldest thing we got is bee swarm simulator
I'm not referring to having a old game I'm referring to having games that are older than 5 years at the very least. Classic dun feel classic if it's a game that was made a year or two ago. Sure they adapted to have a classic look to them but they are still not old-ish games. They simply don't bring any feelings of nostalgia or feelings of having grown up like old games did. But whatever is just a short event anyways
That's what I'm saying, how the hell Survive Natural Disasters isn't in the event but skibidi toilet defense is.

I think people often forget that Meepcity can be considered "Classic" to some people. It's so sad what had to happen to it. The game has such a bad playerbase and reputation to the point where it can't even be brought back. Even ROBLOX dislikes the game, they removed alexnewtron from their official game a couple months ago.. R.I.P Old Meepcity
im pretty sure alexnewtron did something pretty bad, thats why it was removed
@circleinforthecube5170 Had something to do with Yoshi. Also, he barely moderated his game and didn't treat his community good enough.
Do yall fw icebreaker and BOM
I miss icebreaker, I used to be an absolute god at that game on Xbox around 2019-2021 but they just kinda left the game to die

Heyo! I'm one of the co-leads for Cakebomb Studios (aka, the people that work on Make a Cake), I just wanted to clarify that we maintain the original version (Make a Cake and Feed the Giant Noob) to keep it functioning. We don't intend to change it because we want to keep it feeling the same way it did back then! The current version is where we can make most of our big updates, AND we maintain a 2016 version of the sequel as well (originally called Make a Cake: Back for Seconds)! (if we wanted to be exact, there have been 3 games in the series: classic [2010], back for seconds [2016], and make a cake [2021])
Speaking as a member of the roblox community, I think that you did a good job exploring these older games on the platform and analyzing the impact of them! Great video, honestly :)
Thank you!! I’m glad somebody who’s worked on one of these games has came around to leave their input. I completely understand with maintaining the game, and I’m glad you guys put in at least a little work to keep such an old game in pristine shape. I’m glad you enjoyed this video, and I’ll definitely make similar content in the future :D
THE MAN. THE MYTH. THE LEGEND.

Well, looks like it's time to throw my hat in the ring. I am the Community Manager of Cakebomb Studios, and I just want to add onto what my colleague, Devi, said. As I am not a game developer, (I have no interest in coding,) I instead spend a lot of my time theorizing about *game design*, what makes _Make a Cake_ unique, how to best help returning players, and how to expand on the "vibe" that _Make a Cake_ provides. I agree with EVERY point you made in the video, and I am extremely glad that people outside of our little circle are able to pick up on these things. It's rare that someone outside knows a lot about the game.
And that's where you come in. As we are Cakebomb Employees, we have a lot of knowledge about the game that we'd like to share, things like Easter Eggs, hidden features, and the 2016 version of the game that you didn't cover in this video. We also have admin powers and can mess with the game a bit; give tools, money, teleport, etc. So, Ben has an offer for you: if you come into the Cakebomb Discord, we'd be down to let you give us a little "interview" of sorts while we give you a proper tour of the factory. We LOVE talking about stuff like this, and if you ever want more content, an exclusive interview with the Make a Cake staff team could easily get you some views! And if not, we'd still love to talk to you anyway! Me and Devi showed Ben the video and he loved it, he felt very humbled and was honored to be put alongside the greats!
Thank you for the feedback, and I’m glad somebody who is much more professional than I am can back me up on some of these things. Make A Cake was one of my first and most favorite experiences when I first started, and I’m glad you’ve shared it among the developing team. I’ve spent a lot of time looking at games and kinda interpreting how a lot of these games have fallen and risen, such as Make A Cake.
On another note, I’d be more than happy to do a little tour along with an interview for a video! I joined your discord server a few hours ago after reading this comment, and I go under “PerChaps”on discord. There would be a few kinks I would need worked out, but we can definitely discuss it later. I’m more than willing to do something like this and I thank you greatly for this opportunity. I’ll more than likely message one of you once I have the time! Thank you, once again :)

It is also crazy to think that I am helping on developing the next game in the Flood Escape series now. (Flood Escape: Hybrid)

Hey there! I'm the current co-owner of Garbage Roblox Games Wiki (the wiki that you showed at 7:06)! Was quite surprised to see it and chuckled at the sight of it. Even though the articles on that wiki are old and now outdated, it's nice to see people still visiting those articles and giving them a genuine read!
Interesting video, by the way. :P
GLITCHEr HELLOA
Oooo, thats honestly really cool. The Garbage games wiki is honestly really good, especially for my research purposes. I jumped around there a lot just to understand some of the history of certain games. And thank you for the compliment, I’m glad so many people like this video :)
You're welcome! Nowadays, the wiki (and its sister wiki, Perfection Roblox Games Wiki) aren't really actively updated/worked on anymore due to outdated writing styles, sharing bad history with another set of now-defunct wikis, along with being overall restrictive. However, a successor was made (called Roblox Reviews) that's far less restrictive than both Garbage and Perfection Roblox Games Wiki, though it's been struggling to get attention.
Again though, nice to see someone genuinely enjoy taking a look at Garbage and Perfection Roblox Games Wiki. If you ever feel like making an article similar to the ones that you've seen, feel free to make one on Roblox Reviews!

i LOVE youtube vids like this which highlight “old” Roblox games from the 2010s because that’s when I joined! Great video!! :D
I remember a game called the Plaza and Roblox Waterpark. Those were the first games I played way back in 2012, those were a peak of entertainment when I started it throughout middle school.
I also remember one Easter team park game where you work as the team park employees
I grinded the kart game in the Plaza so hard to get the expensive condo. Sad the game died before I got to finish decorating it
a game that gives me a lot of nostalgia is Theme Park Tycoon 2. back when guest were still around, i would log on to the game as one and play it for hours. it was the first game i played on roblox.
I love this video! I sometimes return to some of the games you mentioned in this video. As a prominent member of the FE2 community since 2017 and a discord server moderator for it as well, I find it to be the most influential in my life considering how much the community helped shape me into in the kind of person I am today. I’m glad this popped up in my recommended today, and it’s well edited and paced. Thank you for the nostalgia and memories.
Flood escape was definitely the game I spent the most time on researching and understanding, and checking in with the community was really refreshing and I’m glad some genuine fans of the games I was talking about stumbled upon this video. Thank you for the feedback as well, I’m glad people are really enjoying this :)
I remember playing survive the disasters for hours as a guest back in 2014 and 2015, good times
Same, used to play it alot during those eras, I still play it sometimes, but the 1st game is def dated now, the 2nd Survive the Disasters is a hidden gem and it sometimes get updates, your points saves and there are ranks as well, tho the player count in both games are very small, I've also always like the 1st and 2nd installments as well compared to Natural Disasters imo.

make a cake was originally called make a cake: back for seconds! but unfortunately changed names to a more simple and dumbed down feeling one. Flood escape was especially my favourite tho. I used to play the first one all the time, and then the second one too. I remember I was arguing with some 8 yr old (tbf, i was 8 too) and we were both calling each other bad cause one of us finished first. Then we became friends for some reason??? @@ii_tfnwrmarmy7564 I unironally have played survive the killers in area 51, quite a alot, the past month or two, is one of those old/classic games that still holds up imo, however I been getting alot of burnout, and I think this game is alright to play as long as you don't play it all the time or take it serious, I think this can apply to anything outside of roblox tbh.
Man, seeing some OG Flood Escape brought me back. I sucked at that game back then, but i remember buying the Sword pass.
If you ever do cover some more old games, I'd recommend either the Stalker games (Clonetrooper1019/Maximum_ADHD) or Amazeman's games, like Titanic or Survive The End Of Roblox. (The latter is broken and a working revival is currently maintained by KadenZombie8)
I still remember the days in 2018-2019 when I played with my friends in Flood Escape 2. Back then I was just an iPad kid so I wasn’t exactly good. I could barely beat insane maps back then and definitely not the 3 hardest ones. Then a year ago I returned and overcame the 3 last insane maps and even beat some crazy maps starting with Blue moon and Poisonous chasm. And now my third time returning, I have every crazy other than 1 (Active Volcanic Mines is HARRRRRRRRRRD) and I’m hoping to beat it in the next few weeks. I also wanna try out the crazy+ difficulty maps and see where the current difficulty ceiling is roughly at. This game is so nostalgic and I can go on and on. One thing that does make someone impressed though, is the progression of difficulty from Dark Sci Facility (Insane 4.8) back in my day to Blue Moon (Crazy 5.4) in 2019 to Sandswept Ruins (Crazy 5.6) in 2022 to Active Volcanic Mines (Crazy 5.9) in 2023 to the Crazy+ maps (6 and above) we have today. Guess the shock of coming back to a game I haven’t touched in half a decade and then still enjoying it like something new hits very hard. Glad I found this video!
Great video!
Great vid! I remember playing a couple of these games when I first joined Roblox in 2017.
I only have one question...where is my man, the GOAT Natural Disaster Survival? It's one of the oldest games compared to the games you mentioned, created in 2008--though that's when the place itself was created, not necessarily the game. It's barely changed over the years, and the few changes are UI and a couple new maps here & there...and a virus disaster I guess lol. It was one of the very first Roblox games I ever played & gives me EXTREME nostalgia.
Also the game still gets very good player counts, ranging from the 1000s-low 20000s most of the time
I really considered adding Natural Disaster Survival, but it was very similar to my point about Epic Minigames, and I didn’t want this video to jump over the 20-ish minute mark because that would just be too much editing for me. Editing, recording and voicing over my videos takes a lot of time and having another game to talk about might’ve pushed this video out like a week later. If I ever get to making a second video like this one, I will include it.
This was a great video!
A few classic games for me were either survive the disastors and Vampire Hunters 2, just thinking about the fun times really brings a smile, maybe in another life we all will get to experience that all over again.

even Tho I joined Roblox in 2018 I watched a lot of old UA-camrs like the pals the Krew the crew Dantdm etc. I really enjoyed watching them play these games (I even played some of them and had fun in 2018-2019, sometimes I wondered if I had actually been playing old Roblox would I enjoy it as much as you guys did, 2018 was 5-6 years-Ish ago and it's nostalgic to me.
For me the games I get most nostalgic about are, Work at the pizza place, Welcome to the town of Robloxia, Hunters Life, The Underground war and Build to Survive the Zombies. That was peak roblox for me
Flood Escape 2 is still holding up surprisingly well all things considered. Great, devoted map creators and an ambitious community with plenty of love from Crazyblox. They introduced a performance update recently and I can confidently say it has made the game 2x more enjoyable.

hey! so uh, i think my perspective is interesting on things, as i grew up in an era of roblox between the older and the newer times(2012-2018ish) and still play certain games now, so i got a decent bit of both older style AND newer games i know. I’m surprised you didn’t go over some of the *really* older games, ones that were.. fairly enough, maybe not ones you grew up with if your list consists of mostly 2015-2020ish picks with only popular ones from 2009 making it into there, but i remember playing two games in particular as a kid: Hide and Seek (by lando64000) and Build to Survive the Zombies (by DANGERTIM112). These two in particular had a very nice gameplay loop that i really enjoyed and was simple enough for me yo really enjoy as a kid and they went on to inspire similar kinds of games in the upcoming years. I THINK the zombie one just, doesn’t work anymore. But the classic Hide and Seek apparently still works great(if you can get enough people to play) and has a lot of classic Roblox feel to it since it was released VERY early in roblox’s history (2009) it’s it’s AMAZING that even though it doesn’t really get visitors anymore, that such a piece of history STILL WORKS. even if you don’t want to play hide and seek it’s worth it i think just to play for sake of looking at all the classic maps. This one is more vauge, but I also really remember playing a LOT of roleplaying animal games as a kid. Usually about wolves or cats, or even family roleplay with a cat or dog morph, but the morphs were *very* rudimentary, made mostly of very basic spheres and ovals, and our only ‘weapon’ was the basic wolverine claws from the gear tab in the roblox store. Nowadays, you have more complex ones(that i’ve also played) both in the realm of competition/realism like the ‘Yellowstone Unleashed’ by Vorcloe game, in addition to leaps and bounds of progress in general animal roleplaying with games like ‘Wolves Life Dawn Beta’ by Shyfoox Studios which even for a WIP game, is night and day compared to our older games, which were less technically impressive but had a sense of nostalgia to them. I feel like it’s important also to mention games like ‘Survive the Disasters(Classic)’ by VyrissDev and ‘Survive the Natural Disasters’ by Stickmasterluke, as these were both made in 2009/2008 respectively and they(atleast in the latters case idk about the other one) holds up REALLY WELL and like Hide and Seek, keeps a lot of its original flavor of maps from back in the day except it keeps people on with implementing newer things. The ‘Work at a Pizza Place’ and ‘Make a Cake and Feed it to a Giant Noob’ games also hit that same chord of nostalgia to me as i still play the pizza game to this day. Honestly, along with talking about how obbys and cart ride games and tycoons have persisted as some of the most long time content of roblox and how interesting it was to see the ways in which to mix evolved as a whole (something like more complex scripting like in the newer games seemed INSANE, especially since most of the people who made classic roblox games were also kids/younger teenagers), i could go on practically forever. And i’m not some old person who’s even going to say ALL our old games were better, as i think so many newer roblox games are interesting and nice too! mind you, they may not all be for me, but i still deeply appreciate even games like Adopt Me(by Uplift Games) as much as i’m.. a BIT distasteful for how heavily it leans on its basically loot box mechanic(though i really do like the pets, it’s a nice repetitive gameplay loop of taking care of them i enjoy as an autistic person), or Regretevator(by The Axolotl Sun) for taking formats like the ‘make a family’ and the ‘normal elevator’ games and doing more with them.
13:30 not to mention crazyblox is making a 3rd game called Flood Escape Hybrid
great vid, i want to try some of these
I miss when Flee the Facility only had 3 maps. I remember playing it with my brother and our best friends/neighbors playing together ❤
You should talk about undead nation! Loved that game as a kid growing up.
One of my old favourite games was Dragon Rage. Just checked and it’s only got one active player! It’s sad to see old games just completely die, even newer games like Flora Frenzy or Shard Seekers that’ve pretty much just gone.
A game I really remember from Roblox was Dragon Riders (I think that was the name) it was so popular but nowadays not even 10 people will play at a time it’s so sad :(
This is a rlly good vid the meep city music rlly took me back
i love this vid, just one question... not too sure if u have heard of the game 'the doom wall' in roblox but it was quite og and so fun back then. i rmb they had a voltron collab event held in it! but if u were to play it now, it doesnt work anymore :(
there's also the halloween and christmas roblox game i forgot the names of it but the halloween game makes u go trick or treating for items, so does the christmas game! those games r only available to play during the month of the holiday itself! i miss the christmas one so much, the tasks are so fun to do tbh
Surprised you didn’t speak on Bloxburg it also being a released in 2014, gaining traction in 2016 game. The best building game in the platform and the most popular payed game ever made.
Bloxburg was definitely a game i considered for this whole list, but it just didn’t have that impact I wanted to emphasize because it really hasn’t changed much over the years
I didn’t play it because I didn’t have 25 robux
@@someperson3883 it used to be free back in early 2000's
the choice of music hit me like a rock and came out of nowhere. I would get chills just hearing the flood escape song.
P.S- Please make a part 2
I love work at a pizza place, I played it for a bit when I was younger and I always loved being the delivery driver to was so fun :]
Same!! I was definitely more of a cashier or pizza boxer, but it was just so fun to play when I was younger.
As someone who started playing as kid as a Guest late 2013/ made an account in late 2014, it's crazy to hear that era be referred to as "the 2010s"
Work at a Pizza Place and the first Bake a Cake game were my childhood, man. Alongside some game called Weapons Tycoon or something similar, but I’ve been looking for it for years 😭
I remember becoming a manager in work at a pizza place and putting my employees off work so they get teleported home(idk if that existed then but I remember I did some trolling with the manager in that game lol).
And I also never stopped playing the flood escape series lol, I am making a map rn and I can’t wait for flood escape hybrid!
Damn bro i havent played Flood Escape 2 since the first “crazy” map dropped, actually i was one of the first few people that passed the level on like its first week, i started playing FE2 around 2-3 months after its release, i still remember beating for the first time my favorite map which at the time was the hardest level in the game (beneath the ruins)
The Stalker Reborn will be always my childhood roblox game
I remember playing an elevator roblox game that has mixed of horror and meme. I forget the name of the game but it was definitely one of those classic roblox games.
I started Roblox in 2015 and remember how people used to talk about the "good old days" like the 2000's Roblox and such.
It's a such an odd feeling now seeing people talk about the same era you grow up on now being referred to as nostalgic.
There was this one jaws game that me and my brother would play as guests. We used to time it so we join at the same time so we can join the server. We always tried grinding for this submarine ship
It's a crime there isn't a Sword Fight on the Heights event or a Survive the Disasters (or that one where you fall down stairs for points)
the creator mentioned in the comments that it would be hard to squeeze in a lot of games that are considered classic, and that they will probably make a video where thwy are all mentioned
Im not sure if this was a big game back then, but there was an RPG kind of game called Monster Islands back then that has since been next to abandoned; all events active, next to no players, but still very functional and still has the beauty it had back then.
So the roblox classic event didn’t include actual CLASSIC games…..bruh
Unfortunately, yeah. It really sucks that the classic event didn’t include more foundational games, but I still think the event was well put together so far. I might make a video down the line talking about where the classic event went wrong and where it did really well.
@@PerChapsThe goated classic toilet tower defense is there what you talking abt?
@@PerChaps okay then
I personally think one game you should have included that tried to keep its legacy was the normal elevator. It used to be really popular among UA-camr and little kids. But due to copyright in recent years most of sounds from the floors have either had covers ( like the snoop dog floor) or have had it replaced entirely. It usually averages around 600-400 players daily. It never really changed since the 2016 fame it got and the ui and shop is the exact same from then.
Same thing with crazy elevator. All the music has been removed from that game.
In mentioning flood escape and flood escape 2 with the lava, I think it’s important to note that flood escape had a very sad period where a copy of the game reached the front page called escape the rising lava, or something along the lines, which got popular right when floor is lava trends came around. The flood escape creator tried to get it taken down, but it wasn’t for a long time. The fane even at one point claimed to be approved by the creator of flood escape. How true this is, I don’t know. But I do know the lava modes in flood escape 2 seem to be inspired by that game’s popularity.
Pokemon brick bronze will be forever cherished in the very bottom of my heart.
Idk if this could be considered classic but I used to love playing robloxian city, seems like updates are still relatively recent but there’s rarely anyone online anymore
Armored Patrol went through a lot of drama with the exposé of APH but still gets 120+ players. And Base Wars is still kicking too
Flood escape 2 might be my favorite game on Roblox. I loved both flood escapes, I played the first one a ton, along with the second one. I beat dark sci facility (back when it was the hardest map, times have changed). It felt amazing playing the game back then. Now? It… well… is even better. New modes, amazing soundtracks, new movement, new difficulties, high community presence (FE2 is like the GD of Roblox). I still come back to it every few months to play it a ton and it’s super fun. With how consistent its updates are, I’m glad that it’s pretty successful, but it deserves far more players than the garbage that plagues the front page. If just 10% of Sol’s rng ‘players’ played FE2 that would be amazing. I highly recommend FE2 if you want to spice up your obby experience, as in my opinion, it is the best obby game on Roblox.
Please make a sequel including the Vampire Hunter games! That used to be so fun
Omg I used to play all of these games back in 2017 , brings back memories :D
Very nice video! Some games like Work at a pizza place, Speedrun 4, Epic minigames and Flood escape hold up pretty well!
Here are some nostalgic Roblox games in my opinion: Natural Disasters Survival, Shark Bite, Scuba Diving at Quill Lake, Clone Tycoon 2 and Hide and seek extreme!
i remember when it was called "make a cake: back for seconds" and my 8 year old self thought that meant it was only going to be playable for a few seconds
Ah yes I remember playing speedrun 4 on my grandma’s iPhone back in 2015
