"No Handholding" only really works when the game's gameplay is simplistic enough that the player can guess and be right about what they need to do at a glimpse. Only example I've played is Cruelty Squad, where you see a guy with a big target on him and you'd probably guess you need to kill him.

"personality" I was helping donating stuff to the trello team (the trello team probably doesnt know it tho since i gave them to a friend who was a friend of a trello staff member) The donating stuff went towards the mark obtainment. The first 3 days saw people wiping WEEKS of progress to try and get marks. There is an item in game called "echo shard" which require you to beat the hardest boss in the game, called Metrom's Vessel, to obtain. The boss is pretty much impossible to do if you didnt spend AT LEAST 200 hours into the game and spent over 1k robux to get slots and race rerolls. Now guess what people felt when these echo shards and many more stuff that is just as rare, was lost because Nuova didnt feel like he wanted to patch a bug, or even admit there was a bug. So basically, if you didnt spend at the very least, 400 hours into the game, you aint getting even ACCEPTED into the party to fight the final boss. There was many complaints about this in suggestions. Getting to the last boss was impossible without being carried by a very rich friend in trade market pretty much. And guess what Nuova said to these complains? "The testers beat it, skill issue". Yeah, the testers that get unlimited lives and can edit their own builds beat the final boss, and now Nuova is using it as excuse to justify the final boss being unavailable for 99% of the player base. I mentioned it in your AL video already, but I will say it again. The early stages of your progression in AL isnt NEARLY as big of an issue as the late stages.
400 hours is like 10-20 100% runs of BoTW, which is insane. I dont think you should ever be REQUIRED to spend 400+ hours JUST to beat a game ONE TIME. I’ve tried to play arcane lineage, but the new player experience is so awful that I stopped about 5 hours in, and for reference, I hated (and still hate) deepwoken, but I at least can enjoy it with friends and can somewhat enjoy the game playing alone. The fact that nouva basically says “fuck you” or “skill issue” to every single problem the game has isn’t helping either. I also hate the fact that you’re basically required to play on the highest difficulty to get good loot (unless this isn’t true) is also extremely retarded to me. Also, I find nouvas response to the final boss hilarious “Ah, yes, my testers who have unlimited lives and can recreate their builds mid playthrough beat this boss, so the reason these regular ass people can’t beat it has to be skill issue 🤓.” Thats the funniest shit to me 😭😭😭
@@thatoneelkcaribou6251 You know whats funny? The game has a total of 15 super classes, there is a lot of variety to them and their gameplay. However, the balancing is absolutely shit. If you went hexer (the debuffer class), you wont get accepted for any boss except the first boss. You like one class? Too bad, if you didnt go the 4 meta classes (Paladin, Elementalist, Berserker and Saint), you cant do the final boss and you will probably not even be accepted for the bosses before it.

On the note of going to a carpet to talk to a goofy ball to level up, they have to be stupid to expect people to not use a wiki. Like if leveling up is that complicated, I'm automatically going to assume that everything else is going to be needlessly confusing. So if I have to play a grind fest with permadeath AND convoluted mechanics, its insane to think I'm not going to look up the answers just to get the full experience. And on that note, no hand holding CAN work. Think of Darkwood, a game that can be hard to control, has almost no explanations, and you are almost guaranteed to make mistakes that can end up lethal. But it works because you dont have to invest several hours to learn about each danger and mechanic. It works so well because you are allowed to die and not lose everything, allowing you to have the satisfaction of learning how to counter or avoid the danger in the future. Even with permadeath it can work, but only if the runs are short enough to where you can do multiple in a day so that you can properly learn about what you did wrong. (Lets not forget that no hand holding doesn't mean no tutorial. And on that note you should never be directionless, no hand holding just means you aren't directly guided through the world. You should still know where to go and have a general sense of what to do, just not the specifics. Things like not having potion recipes are awful ways of implementing no hand holding since there is no way to learn them without blind trial and error. A good version would be introducing a never seen before monsters, and having to learn how to beat it. Often by learning from your mistakes you can learn how to dodge its attacks and harm it without bashing your head against a wall.) TLDR: No hand holding can work, but it has to fit the game and have purpose, not be a time waste that forces using a wiki.
I think they where going for a game where you just fuck around and find out, though even if they did a tutorial for things like leveling up and a few other things should be mandatory.
I've gotta say with your game opinions it feels like a breath of fresh air, it feels like you just give your honest unfiltered thoughts. That was one of the reasons I enjoyed this channel, especially non roblox stuff even if it does poorly
Hi! I think your video brought up some great points, and this one too. I do enjoy the game but it definitely has some flaws, and my standards are low anyways A tutorial is a standard for any game, I'd rather have too many tutorials than 0 for a game filled with many things and large maps. I don't think smaller games such as the mentioned isaac or dead cells need too many tutorials since they're mostly small game with simple controls (also they HAVE a tutorial, isaac tells you the controls at the very least, imagine booting up the game and having to search up how to use a bomb) and the tutorial NPC doesnt even give much in AL, some basic info and a quest to kill 3 slimes (which you cant even take if you're level 4 or above) Needing to check the wiki for every simple task is also a bad thing, like did you know enemies have resistances to attacks? Well thats because you need to specifically go the beastmaster subclass and kill enemies with the mark move to THEN view their stats in your book which you cannot view if you're not the beastmaster class AND it resets if you permanently die. No tutorials for a large RPG just leaves the player thinking "what am i supposed to do?" "What are these people talking about?" "What am I doing wrong?" I wouldn't mind if for, let's say potion brewing, you'd get a notebook that lets you mark down potion recipes you find, perhaps from enemies who leave scattered pages such as the thieves and cursed corpses. For those who want fun turn based RPGs that dont require you to search up a ton of stuff I'd reccomend a few - Paper mario: The thousand year door (remake out soon so there you go) - Bug fables - Adventure story (hey! this one is on roblox and actually gives you a tutorial! sadly discontinued but it has good mileage either way) - Final fantasy 7 (as mentioned in the video) - The mario and luigi series (my favourite is dream team :) ) It's not a crime to enjoy a flawed game. It's not a crime to dislike a good game. It's ok to listen to the flaws of your favorite games and go "Yea, actually, this COULD be improved" and it's ok to listen to all the good things of a game and go "That sounds nice but it's not for me." That's about all I have to say for now, have a good day sir.
So about the wiki game problem and lack of handholding. A game I didn't finish yet at the point of writing this but plan to finish, is the platformer masterpiece called Hollow Knight. Hollow knight is a game that gives you NO INFORMATION about anything the map has for you, any type of information about the world and its story is hidden around it and gives you total freedom to explore, the game not only encourages but forces you to explore to progress, but doesn't leave you defenseless either, it gives you pretty early all the knowledge about the basic movement and attacks, when unlocking abilities it shows you what they do and how to use them, and you can always see them on the menu, because everything is shown for you there. A core mechanic on Hollow Knight is an npc that appears everytime you discover a new area, he spawns on specific locations selling you the map for said area, you can find him trough the whistle sound he makes and papers scattered making a trail to him, the map though is imcomplete most of the time, but when exploring areas the map doesn't show you, and then going back to a bench (the equivalent to a bonfire in darksouls) it will show you the areas you explored, and also paths you didn't take, showing you areas you still need to explore, he can also leave the are he originally appears in if you leave the area without buying the map, if that's the case there is a little card on the ground saying that the map for the area can be found on a shop you unlock after buying a few maps from him, shop which you can find on dirtmouth (the starting city on the map), so my point is, hollow knight expects you to discover things for yourself, but doesn't just leave you with no information, there is an enemy encyclopedia in the game that doesn't give you any stats about the enemies, because that's something your not meant to know, you can figure it out by yourself by battling the enemies, the encyclopedia is merely a lore thing. Hollow knight also has a funneling effect, making you sometimes stuck without being able to progress much, further forcing you to explore every little area of the map to be able to progress on another note, the opposite can also happen, where a barrier can be avoided by exploring all the areas around it, and finding a different route for the same destination, per example there was a barrier that i need an specific skill to pass trough, but when i finally did get the skill and want to explore there, i already explored there before by taking an alternative route instead, which also made me overpowered for that part of the game. Hollow Knight is better playing without spoilers or a wiki, the game benefits from the unknown like a metroidvania should be, even when asking advice for my friend which already finished the game, i only wanted tips instead of blatant spoilers, like how do i unlock this door, because as you might expect, you can still get stuck not knowing where to go, but i still recommend not throwing away the surprise factor of everything you do. Conclusion : (And also forcing myself to stop talking about this game i love) Hollow Knight is proof that little handholding does not mean bad game design, all games can benefit from not giving you any information at all apart from basics, which most games on roblox just ignore, i know it's a bit of a stretch to compare roblox games to an actual masterpiece of game design (on my opinion), but considering how many games on roblox take this design philosophy of expecting you to explore, yet not giving you anything to work with, even though they have multiple perfect formulas already built and developed in the games industry, and not using anything about it, it's like they tried remaking it from memory. And even though there are games that do learn from it, they still don't implement it fully, peroxide per example forces you into a tutorial upon joining the game for the first time, and it's actually pretty decent! It tells you about combat, movement, stats (which aren't points based like blox fruit) ranks and everything! Aaaand then you are thrown into the world with no further information about the game, roblox devs never truly learn at the end of the day. And we are left waiting on a game that doesn't force you to use a wiki/trello or friends to guide you trough the early game.
Every game developer can say, "It's your fault." It takes a real game developer to say, "It's my fault." That's why we don't see it often, they don't want to realize that if players are going to a wiki to figure out the game, and it's a majority, then YOU didn't make in game resources available to them. Now I play tons of elden ring, and my first few playthroughs I play by myself and explore, and then I use the wiki to come up with cool builds, never did I have to go to the elden ring wiki to figure out how to equip my flasks, or how to craft, or where to level up. It was for specific items that would buff me a certain way and combine to make a cool build. Eclipse isn't fighting wikis overall, he's fighting for games to explain their most basic mechanics which would allow you to play, I could sit my mom in front of elden ring and she'd eventually make it through, if I sat her in front of any of these roblox games she'd have no idea what's going on, and I wouldn't be able to help her because it's not intuitive and it's not explained.
Recently found your channel and it's great; finally seeing someone who actually criticizes Roblox games like these is refreshing.. and I'm surprised I didn't find channel sooner. Keep up the great work [and I like your other content too, obviously].
I would classify this in the checklist game genre. I really like these types of games where you go in the wiki search for something and spend the next 5 hours getting materials to acquire it, my most played games are terraria and risk of rain 2 and for terraria half my time on the game is on mod wikis and stuff like that, people who plays these games dont play them for anything but grinding for materials to get stronger with a guide. (for arcane lineage) the gameplay is mid the world SUCKS the story isnt a thing but the grinding is half fun its not just lvl up repeatedly and get new moves you can do things in different orders, you can get new weapons, and you can make unbalanced to shit builds with a bunch of trial and error. i will say its not the best game in this genre but it gets the job done.
Things a trello should be used for - Update logs, and current update progress - Planned features - Update roadmaps - Listing bugs Things you should NOT use a trello for - literally everything else
I mean, not really. It's not the trello or wiki's fault for giving information. They have their place. I'd argue wikidiver games still have their own place, for example, Terraria. Arcane lineage is just INSANELY reliant on them. There's 0 fun you can have without using the wiki. Even in Terraria you can still progress through pre-hardmode and still have some fun without the wiki. You should at least be able to go through the beginning stages of a game without consulting the wiki.
@@ramon1500 Im not saying it’s a trello’s fault, it’s nice SOMEWHERE has this info, im saying literally everything else should be an ingame resource. You can find every terraria crafting recipe without using a wiki, it’s called the guide npc. You can also find every single drop rate, from the bestiary. Wikis should never be necessary to find ingame mechanics in any situation. However, update logs aren’t ingame mechanics, so I personally see them as fine. I played through terraria many times without ever consulting a wiki, because there was no need to.
@@Mortomi "Literally everything else" is a bit excessive don't you think? Even the terraria beastiary and guide doesn't have information on which biome chest does this accessory spawn in or even how to summon the Wall of Flesh and Duke Fishron. Just telling basic or essential information is enough, there no need for such intense detail. Having that much detail wouldn't even work in some genres of games. To have everything in the wiki be in-game also is an unbelievably demanding task and defeats the whole purpose of there being wikis.
@@ramon1500 yes, it does in fact defeat the whole purpose of the wiki. my point is, that’s a good thing. also the guide literally does tell you about the wall of flesh???? it’s one of his messages, he literally says you need to sacrifice something. and, to top that, he even says "I've heard reports of a very strange worm in the underground mushroom fields. I wonder if it would be any good as bait?" You’re just wrong. Literally just wrong. And, just as the guide does, you don’t need an exact description of everything present at a moment’s notice in a game. An offhand npc comment about a puzzle, a percentage rarity below the item you obtained when you get it, a hint of how to summon a boss people would miss, or literally anything but out of game resources.
I would actually love to see an Elden ring playthrough on the channel, as someone who loves open world games, Elden ring was a gift from the heavens to me
The only thing about AL that I think you overstated is that meditating on the mat is pretty obvious. Now figuring out what it does exactly is less obvious but there's players in every server in the few miserable times I've played the game sitting on the mats at spawn so I quickly figured out that they did something, so I stepped on one and it said "press M to meditate" and that was that. In that one singular instance, it genuinely was your own fault not figuring it out, but aside from that, every other criticism and more is completely on point. Given that you never got past level 1, you should know that it exclusively gets worse, if you found out about potion brewing, the janky attack minigames, reputation, the killbrick parkour in pitch darkness, and more, that video could have very well been twice as long.
I cannot imagine shuffling through all those comments and not get a headache from it. Your doing incredible work to put stupidity on a spotlight and call out what spews out of their mouths.
It's really cool to see how Eclipse's channel has evolved into more a Roblox game-review type channel. Maybe in the future reviewing games off Roblox will get just as much views as reviewing the games on Roblox!
As a player of Type Soul (I am not proud of it whatsoever) it's the same deal here. Nouva is a big dev in Type Soul and the game sounds exactly the same as Arcane Lineage in terms of its NEED of outside sources to even play.
I have an idea: visit a bunch of fighting games you dislike (N, idk if you dislike TSB, AUT) it would be so funny to watch you have an aneurysm over game design.
As someone who plays arcane lineage, and played it on release, I spent 50 minutes figuring out how to level up because the closest thing to a tutorial is someone telling you to go kill slimes, the late game might be good but early game is actual hell if you don’t have friends or a wiki
Hey my comment is on a DDOS episode! and im not the stupid. Thanks for responding to my comment Eclipse, and I also did not know there was a tutorial npc.
That feeling when you go to the trello to find the spawn locations of an npc that gives you rare items and the first thing you see is "uuuuh we don't know yet lmao". Arcane Lineage ladies and gentlemen.
ill be honest, it's the community that amazes me I expected it to be worse than Deepwoken but they actually ban together and figure shit out and they give advice and other things, this video funny as hell especially the Nouva messages
Going on about the "youre weak" npc dialogue, i played a roblox game before that had the same dialogue right? That dialogue is already stupid to explain the game but if you dont quit the game at this point you would assume you need levels to talk to him right ? NOOOOO, THAT NPC IS RELATED TO UPGRADING A SPECIFIC ABILITY, YOU COULD MAX YOURSELF AND HE WOULD STILL CALL YOU WEAK Like how do you look at this and say "yeah this is the non handing holding i want, NPCS MISLEADING THE BASIC EXPERIENCE"
Here's the biggest problem about Roblox games somewhat similar to AL right: a lot of the times, to even understand how to play the game in its entirety, you quite literally need to look at the wiki or trello of the game that's part of the reason why I think AL has such a huge playerbase people are just USED TO looking up the wiki/trello for these kinds of games, and I think that trend needs to change or even just disappear completely as fast as possible Oh and before saying anything more, I've been playing this game for months now and I'm not stopping because I find it very fun on my end but it's true that the "little handholding" advertised is a fairly bad attempt at hiding the blatant lack of tutorial for the game it's like you have to have had at least a bit of prior experience in the GENRE like playing Dragon Quest, maybe Final Fantasy (VII), or other games like these, to know what to do at least a bit, and even then with that prior experience you'd still have to understand how to control your character, where to go to get classes, even talking to npcs around the map is weird, and how could you possibly know about ALIGNMENTS TO GET SPECIFIC SUPER CLASSES WITHOUT CHECKING THE TRELLO/WIKI? side note: the game doesn't even tell you that you can double tap w to sprint.
It’s ironic that I agree with the whole thing of “oh u only value this game highly because u haven’t played the alternatives” knowing damn well I’ma just keep playing deepwoken and arcane lineage and don’t even wanna play the alternatives lol
Two months late to the party: Most roblox roguelike players think roguelike comes from "Rogue Lineage", not "Rogue Legacy". This sounds like a minor nitpick but it's one hell of a problem, because when you lable your game as "roguelike" on roblox, people expect it to be the toxic permadeath experience that is Rogue Lineage, giving birth to dumbasses that think "roguelike" means bad game design + permadeath
Btw, when the game first released, the skill that the tutorial npc was supposed to give you was bugged, and Nuova didn’t fix it for ~5 months. Also, there was a dupe glitch where the economy was destroyed at one point, and Nuova’s response was to wait for ~3 months to patch it. The Roblox exploiting community criticized the dev’s code, and called the devs (and the game) dogshit dumpster fire. Actually crazy.
on that first comment, campfires are also something you'd normally sit around so it's much more intuitive than meditating on random carpets on the street
in the argument about roguelike im pretty sure he meant souls likes which generally just tell you some controlls and then expect you to kinda figure it out but in those games it actually fun while roblox games dont even tell you basic mechanics and just expect you to figure it out
When people make liking this one thing their entire personality they’ll take an insult to that thing as an insult to their character, that’s why they get so defensive over shit that doesn’t matter
imagine if elden ring was the very first souls game and it just dropped you into a boss fight as soon as you clicked new game and people complained to Miyazaki and he just said to look at the wiki
I swear so many of the people defending their favorite games and trying to debunk the OPINION of someone, fail to realize (even though he says it so many times) that having to rely on a wiki or trello to understand the game and how to play it is BAD GAME DESIGN.
it feels like every video Eclipse made some good and smart soul gets saved from the roblox hell, if youre one of them and reading this, im proud of you.
The game has a bug known as "the cauldron bug" where you create a cauldron using an alchemist ability and if you dash into it, it sends you flying. People have found a way to "abuse" this to skip a annoying parkour for a boss and out of all the people that do that exact bug on a daily basis, me who has done it 2-3 times (1 being on accident) have gotten banned for "exploiting".
I quite like AL but its shit when it comes to teaching things, I had to look up EVERYTHING from potion making to getting moves and classes (because to get to the mage teacher you have to FIND AND WALK UP AN INVISIBLE PATH IN THE AIR) and when i first started i didnt even know how to begin a battle
i actually like arcane lineage, i played it with a friend the first time, but my discord crashed, my first thought when playing game with limited lives is to interact with fucking everything, i didnt even use a trello / wiki, and the moment my discord fixed, i had levelled up. also i need a fucking tutorial, it sucks to not fucking know anything besides "interact with anything", i learnt about gambling before getting a single level. also the fucking races are busted. the quest bs is also hard, the only way of knowing how far you are is talking to the npc and having a guess. also the spawn facing direction is random, making it bs. i as a player am a ocd filled monster, i always interact with anything. also i hate the owner.
fun fact owner of arcane lineage is actually owner of copy closed community game shinden when i mean copy i mean scripts or assets of this game weren't original at all they were made by other devs when other devs discontinue entire community was making copy of this game one to another and nuova was one of them and he made alot things that weren't balanced and prob abandoned or community abandoned for deepwoken (which btw shinden came out way before deepwoken release like at verse 1 launch you get what i mean) so yea
On one hand: games like Terraria or Noita (or any other roguelike for that matter) basically require a wiki due to a lack of laid-out information. On the other hand: Both of those games explain their basic mechanics (Noita's starting area, along with all the unexplained mechanics, being easy to find by simply hovering over what you don't know) or have a way to find information (Terraria with the Guide whose name is fairly self-explanatory) Leaving the player blind is a good idea if you want exploration to be a large part of the game, but at least give the player something to work off of, they can't do anything if they have no idea how to do anything.
The thing about the arcane lineage playerbase is that we are exactly like the genshin player base like I mean exactly most people know the devs are the problem but will continue playing the game and there is a small but vocal minority who will meat ride the devs
i've come to terrible realization that the "its called roguelike for a reason" kid probably meant its like rogue lineage. these kids think the term roguelike started with rogue lineage
Yeah the dev really did say that lol.

Also, I find nouvas response to the final boss hilarious
“Ah, yes, my testers who have unlimited lives and can recreate their builds mid playthrough beat this boss, so the reason these regular ass people can’t beat it has to be skill issue 🤓.” Thats the funniest shit to me 😭😭😭

"So basically, if you didnt spend at the very least, 400 hours into the game, you aint getting even ACCEPTED into the party to fight the final boss." I feel bad for the people who spent that much time on a roblox game of all things, and it's not even a somewhat decent roblox game.

Often by learning from your mistakes you can learn how to dodge its attacks and harm it without bashing your head against a wall.)
TLDR: No hand holding can work, but it has to fit the game and have purpose, not be a time waste that forces using a wiki.
Take the binding of Isaac for example
I think they where going for a game where you just fuck around and find out, though even if they did a tutorial for things like leveling up and a few other things should be mandatory.
that works for some games, but definitely not this one

Hi! I think your video brought up some great points, and this one too.
I do enjoy the game but it definitely has some flaws, and my standards are low anyways
A tutorial is a standard for any game, I'd rather have too many tutorials than 0 for a game filled with many things and large maps. I don't think smaller games such as the mentioned isaac or dead cells need too many tutorials since they're mostly small game with simple controls (also they HAVE a tutorial, isaac tells you the controls at the very least, imagine booting up the game and having to search up how to use a bomb) and the tutorial NPC doesnt even give much in AL, some basic info and a quest to kill 3 slimes (which you cant even take if you're level 4 or above)
Needing to check the wiki for every simple task is also a bad thing, like did you know enemies have resistances to attacks? Well thats because you need to specifically go the beastmaster subclass and kill enemies with the mark move to THEN view their stats in your book which you cannot view if you're not the beastmaster class AND it resets if you permanently die.
No tutorials for a large RPG just leaves the player thinking "what am i supposed to do?" "What are these people talking about?" "What am I doing wrong?"
I wouldn't mind if for, let's say potion brewing, you'd get a notebook that lets you mark down potion recipes you find, perhaps from enemies who leave scattered pages such as the thieves and cursed corpses.
For those who want fun turn based RPGs that dont require you to search up a ton of stuff I'd reccomend a few
- Paper mario: The thousand year door (remake out soon so there you go)
- Bug fables
- Adventure story (hey! this one is on roblox and actually gives you a tutorial! sadly discontinued but it has good mileage either way)
- Final fantasy 7 (as mentioned in the video)
- The mario and luigi series (my favourite is dream team :) )
It's not a crime to enjoy a flawed game. It's not a crime to dislike a good game. It's ok to listen to the flaws of your favorite games and go "Yea, actually, this COULD be improved" and it's ok to listen to all the good things of a game and go "That sounds nice but it's not for me."
That's about all I have to say for now, have a good day sir.
Make a new genre called wikilike
Things a trello should be used for
- Update logs, and current update progress
- Planned features
- Update roadmaps
- Listing bugs
Things you should NOT use a trello for
- literally everything else
@@Mortomi
"Literally everything else" is a bit excessive don't you think?

I never understood what is with these permadeath/hardcore roblox games and their obsession with killbrick parkours.

As someone who plays arcane lineage, and played it on release, I spent 50 minutes figuring out how to level up because the closest thing to a tutorial is someone telling you to go kill slimes, the late game might be good but early game is actual hell if you don’t have friends or a wiki

Going on about the "youre weak" npc dialogue, i played a roblox game before that had the same dialogue right? That dialogue is already stupid to explain the game but if you dont quit the game at this point you would assume you need levels to talk to him right ?
NOOOOO, THAT NPC IS RELATED TO UPGRADING A SPECIFIC ABILITY, YOU COULD MAX YOURSELF AND HE WOULD STILL CALL YOU WEAK
Like how do you look at this and say "yeah this is the non handing holding i want, NPCS MISLEADING THE BASIC EXPERIENCE"
that guy at the end gives me hope in roblox
Here's the biggest problem about Roblox games somewhat similar to AL right:
a lot of the times, to even understand how to play the game in its entirety, you quite literally need to look at the wiki or trello of the game
that's part of the reason why I think AL has such a huge playerbase
people are just USED TO looking up the wiki/trello for these kinds of games, and I think that trend needs to change or even just disappear completely as fast as possible
Oh and before saying anything more, I've been playing this game for months now and I'm not stopping because I find it very fun on my end
but it's true that the "little handholding" advertised is a fairly bad attempt at hiding the blatant lack of tutorial for the game
it's like you have to have had at least a bit of prior experience in the GENRE like playing Dragon Quest, maybe Final Fantasy (VII), or other games like these, to know what to do at least a bit, and even then with that prior experience you'd still have to understand how to control your character, where to go to get classes, even talking to npcs around the map is weird, and how could you possibly know about ALIGNMENTS TO GET SPECIFIC SUPER CLASSES WITHOUT CHECKING THE TRELLO/WIKI?
side note: the game doesn't even tell you that you can double tap w to sprint.
Wow, that soundtrack was absolute bliss to listen to. Great video as always Eclipse.
i love nuova playing "egg tree incremental" or that one type soul copy instead of fixing his game!
It’s ironic that I agree with the whole thing of “oh u only value this game highly because u haven’t played the alternatives” knowing damn well I’ma just keep playing deepwoken and arcane lineage and don’t even wanna play the alternatives lol

@@Tomato_Destroyer Real.
Two months late to the party:
Most roblox roguelike players think roguelike comes from "Rogue Lineage", not "Rogue Legacy".
This sounds like a minor nitpick but it's one hell of a problem, because when you lable your game as "roguelike" on roblox, people expect it to be the toxic permadeath experience that is Rogue Lineage, giving birth to dumbasses that think "roguelike" means bad game design + permadeath
as a member of the giant forehead community, we welcome you with an open mind.

Looking in the trello is the free DLC of Arcane Lineage
i actually like arcane lineage, i played it with a friend the first time, but my discord crashed, my first thought when playing game with limited lives is to interact with fucking everything, i didnt even use a trello / wiki, and the moment my discord fixed, i had levelled up. also i need a fucking tutorial, it sucks to not fucking know anything besides "interact with anything", i learnt about gambling before getting a single level. also the fucking races are busted. the quest bs is also hard, the only way of knowing how far you are is talking to the npc and having a guess. also the spawn facing direction is random, making it bs. i as a player am a ocd filled monster, i always interact with anything. also i hate the owner.
fun fact owner of arcane lineage is actually owner of copy closed community game shinden when i mean copy i mean scripts or assets of this game weren't original at all they were made by other devs when other devs discontinue entire community was making copy of this game one to another and nuova was one of them and he made alot things that weren't balanced and prob abandoned or community abandoned for deepwoken (which btw shinden came out way before deepwoken release like at verse 1 launch you get what i mean) so yea
On one hand: games like Terraria or Noita (or any other roguelike for that matter) basically require a wiki due to a lack of laid-out information.
On the other hand: Both of those games explain their basic mechanics (Noita's starting area, along with all the unexplained mechanics, being easy to find by simply hovering over what you don't know) or have a way to find information (Terraria with the Guide whose name is fairly self-explanatory)
Leaving the player blind is a good idea if you want exploration to be a large part of the game, but at least give the player something to work off of, they can't do anything if they have no idea how to do anything.
