I bought my 1967 2-door just like the blue one, from the son of the father who passed away. He was going to put a mid-engine Audi 4.2 in it.
I just got the car, not interested in the audi. but two weeks later, his son was still trying to sell the engine, and I decide to get it and make the car what he wanted it, and deemed it Project Audacious. There are the start of it on my channel. I am finally now will be finishing it, but it may be yet another Madness Twist. He might or might not have approved, but I gave up trying to sell or give it away (only 1 said if you deliver it 200 miles away) it as I have 12 cars to reduce to 4, but I can't give up on it now and the crusher will be denied.

Not lifetime but I worked on a 1971 BMW 2002 (actually kind of similar styling to a corvair) for years and had accumulated a lot of parts. Due to life being what it is, it wound up in a shed at my parents’ house for several years and had become an ongoing source of friction in the family. I knew it was time to get rid of it but it was in no condition to sell by any means. I was fortunate enough to remember someone who did vintage racing with 2002s and he agreed to take my project and all the parts off of my hands. We both drove about 3 hours and met halfway between our homes and did the exchange from trailer to trailer in a parking lot. I was so happy that it was going to someone who would respect what they had and take care of it.

In 1963 my Dad drove his Corvair across the country from East Texas to Portland Oregon , pulling a trailer full of everything they owned and 6 people in the car . After that my Dad loved the Corvair for being so tough to take all the abuse it did . Later he bought one just like the one that made that trip . Then he bought a red convertible because it was just cool . The top was electric . And his 450SL its top was manual. And he would brag on it all the time . Good memories ✓

sqwreek! It's been so many years since I heard the old sound of squealing tyres. Tyres already didn't squeal like that when I learned to drive in '91, they kind-of scraped instead. It took me right back to when I was very little. We lived in London and there were all kinds of nutcases on the roads. ;) One time, when I was very small, I even saw a police car chase! As I later learned, it was a Rover P6 pursued by a Rover P5 police car. The P6 has nearly the proportions (if not the style) of a Corvair, while the P5 is a flouncy 50s car made for Britain's tiny roads; tall and kind-of narrow. Every time that memory comes back to mind, I'm struck by the sheer amount of roll as the P5 took a corner! The P6 didn't exactly stay level, but the P5 must have been this close to rolling over! XD I'm also struck by the police car's colour; a bright blue like a toy, with a single round flashing light.

So glad you saved both the Corvair's, grew up with parents owning A Greenbriar Corvair van. Owned a 66 Monza 110 myself at one time. Great cars.

It's amazing how all this good Corvair stuff just comes to your dad. I would love to find a cheap old Corsa to work with but here in West Virginia there just isn't much around to work with because everything around here is rusted to pieces. I love rear engine cars and have a couple Smart Cars but I'm a Chevy fan for sure. Good luck with those projects.

My two cents, if the convertible is rare, do a restoration on it even if that just means taking care of rust and getting her properly reassembled with the correct parts.
Oh, and that jeep in the driveway? It looks like a 1946-49 CJ2A. Cool that someone added a second fuel tank under the passenger seat.
Mine is _almost_ exactly the same, except that the dealership stretched it two feet directly behind the front seats. It's my daily driver, and I'd love to bring it down to Hurricane and spend a few weeks shadowing you guys while I learn to drive it in the sand and rocks.
It's no stranger to recovery. I've rescued a number of vehicles with a strap by dead pull. One was a crew cab dually diesel RAM stuck in the snow in the ditch outside my house. It was buried to the bottom of the driver's side window and four wheel drive was broken. A dead pull in first/low with chains on all for corners of the jeep pulled it right out. :D

You found a gold Mine. I love Corvair's. I used to sell Chevrolets in the 60's and loved Corcair's over all others. I bought several. It is the only car other than the German makes that you can have a head on Collision and still have Transportation home if you always carry a Chain.
