The best music professor of internet.
Absolutely brilliant. After so many years of trying to improvise you make it as easy as a child's game. Now I can actually play a blues tune and take a solo that sounds a lot more advanced than I am. Almost feels like cheating. Thank you for what you doing here.
You’re the best online teacher, the way you teach, the way you speak, the way you play, you’re the sweetest and the best ❤️
As always, awesome video, Oliver. Your work is excellent and helps me to believe that my dream is possible. I'm sure there are other people who share this feeling with me.
Absolutely true.
so True....
I discovered Oliver and NewJazz about six months ago...after having reviewed all shapes, sizes and sex of those teaching jazz piano. There are several who are top notch, but Oliver's voice, clarity, pacing and personality make him my TOP, Top Notch. I'm very hard of hearing, so all of those characteristic make a big difference.
Thanks, Oliver...you make us work lonnng...and hard...but it's sure rewarding.
This was really cool! Way better than just boring 'blues scales'. Your hand grip technique is new to me and is blowing my MIND.
This is one of the best lesson on how to improvise I have seen on UA-cam
imo, he is a master of the music. performance and reflection come together perfectly as no one else ever did.
Thanks :) And thank you so much for your donations!!! Warm regards Oliver
Thank you Oliver, you are a Fantastic Instructor. You make learning to play piano easy and FUN. Again Thank you so very much.
Every single lesson on the site is excellent. Well put. Thank you very much!
Thanks , Oliver! I am an ex US Naval officer who sang semi professionally/professionally for many tears. Music was a very large part of my life. About 4 years ago I had a life altering incident that affected my singing voice and the full use of my left hand (I am left hand dominant). While i dabbled a bit on guitar, i never really became proficient at any musical instrument. My latest conviction is to finally start learning some piano so Music can ome back into my life. Currently awaiting delivery of my keyboard, I realize that left hand technique will be somewhat of a greater challenge than for most. Luckily modern keyboards have a simplified way of playing chords which can be taken advantage of until and when i gain greater left hand mobility. Happy to have come across your video. You have a new subscriber in me.
Thanks a lot :) I hope you get well soon - and enjoy Music (with or without the left hand). Warm regards from Oliver
The solo is a dialogue.
Putting on the brakes is so awesome
What strong first 3 fingers on your RH.
They are your piano strength.
The handgrip approach is unique
Music first theory later is a lot more.
This reflexion is CATHARSIS for me , erasing the old stuff.
Thank you teacher Oliver.
The best channel of keyboard of the world for me... Thank you for each lesson.
What an amazing sound. THANK YOU. Jennifer.
👌Amazing how you reduced the complexity of improvising into a simple concept while still sounding great. Simply Great - Thanks so much😊
This was my first-ever Oliver Prehn handgrip and it was a big step forward in my playing.
Glad to know that you are always there outside my practice shed without another " just in time video"
Thank you Brother Oliver.

I watched your new video and directly went to my piano to try it :-) Very interesting... Thank you ! It's a huge job to make such a video. Greetings from Paris.
You are the best jazz piano teacher I've ever met, love your lessons...
Brilliant, from a real true beginner, 2 years ago. I experienced your lessons over these past 2 years and especially this one, back again. I see it a little differently now, and better in any case. So i reiterate my big Thx Oliver , greaaaaat job and pleasure :-)
Been waiting anxiously for this one! Thank you sir!
Awesome. You just show us how to use the fingers as well as the scale without sounding boring, Thanks Oliver.
Oliver, vos vidéos sont extraordinaires. Vous rendez le jazz accessible et compréhensible grâce à vos talents de pédagogue tout en simplicité et en sérénité. Tout est clair, limpide et lumineux. Mille mercis.
Probably the best video I've seen so far on you tube. Great teaching style.Thanks.
Oliver. Your instruction is beautifully simple and so effective. I love it.
Very thankful for this uncomplicated and comprehensive lesson!
Great to see things from a perspective of patterns, rather than scales for a change. It's when combining both perspectives, and adding some personal fantasies that magic happens. For some reason, with your videos, I always experience this magic.
Gees, I’ve been trying to do this for years, but you’ve simplistically analyzed it so now I can actually play it. I think you are Oliver, and I’d love more of your blues instruction! 😘
You are such a great teacher Oliver.
I just want to encourage people to gift Oliver a suggested one time lesson fee (my personal suggestion) for all of his lessons which we can watch over and over again. And for the record, I don't know this gentleman. I'm just super appreciative of this lesson and I plan to watch the others too. Thanks again Oliver!
Thanks a lot for your donations. You keep me going. The best and warm regards Oliver

Your tutorials are so good it is amazing. Thank you.
Perfect as usual! Thanks Oliver!
Hello Oliver, thank you so much for your warm spirit, and mello teaching style. You make the concepts flow freely in the mind and allow the listener to process new information....I needed this type of training despite years of self taught training. Giving me some structure and especially those hand grip movements that I love. I’m more of a natural rhythm player, but this allows me not to be so boring, but rather interesting and smooth. Your soul brutha H3! Atlanta GA
Thanks thanks thanks and thank you so very much for the wonderful programs.

Great lessons. I lost a lot of feeling in my right thumb from a nasty accident and the "hand grip" approach is really helpful for my problem. Thanks!
That's a very good lesson. it's an eye opener for sure. Makes it easier to find position of keys with ease. Now just try to improvise more... Thanx Michael.
Great work! Nice & easy, please stay!
I've just stumbled upon your fantastic video! You have taught me so much and explained things so well. You are a great teacher and your presentation style, along with excellent and simple graphics, are both of the highest quality.
Thank you so much Oliver!
Please keep up the fine lessons!
Best regards, Mike....(In England)! :-))
hey ! I just stumbled upon your channel by chance, and I found you're doing exactly what i've looking for for a while. That is, actual practical techniques to learn improvisation by reducing the complexity to the point I don't need to overthink it, plus the appropriate exercices that come along. And all this for free ! Thank you so much :)
I can relate to your comments!
Oliver has a unique approach, which is both easy to relate to, and follow;-).
I can"t really tell to my friends that I learn piano by myself now, I actually have a teacher. Thank you Mr NewJazz !
Very cool hand grip technique, thanks.
You’re the best!
Oliver I'm learning a lot thanks I really enjoy the way you teach
Another wonderful and mindful video!
Voilà un site particulièrement intéressant et d'une remarquable qualité pédagogique. Tout est expliqué dans le détail avec précision et simplicité. Tout semble si facile! Merc mille fois.
You are the perfect teacher!!
Love all your videos. Thanks so much. Where have you been all my life.
Fantastic installment, as usual, Oliver! :-)
I'm 38 years old and I just bought (for the first time) a digital piano a week ago. I've never played the piano before coz I'm into guitars (just a novice player). The plan is to teach my daughter to play the piano when it's already possible. Right now, she is still 8 months old. Oliver, your lessons are an invaluable source of information. Making me think that it's not too late to learn the piano at all. Thank you very very very much!
Best channel to learn jazz and blues
Very nice lesson. May God bless you.
Wow wow thank you very much I’m start to practice right now God bless you Sr.
Excellent tutorial! Thank You.
So informative, you break things down into such simple concepts, that even I can understand (musical noobie) ;0)
It all just makes perfect sense.
Of course, the practice is still the most vitally important part, but even that, you make fun !
Thank you so much Oliver, I wish you all the success with your efforts.
The content this guy puts out is staggeringly fantastic. We’ll done, sir 👍 🙌 👏
Thank Master, is very useful you teach !!
Who in the world would downvote this? Great work, Oliver. Thank you.
Great lesson. Easy to understand and master.
Thanks you so much..I just got a lot of exercises to improve more me. God bless
Thanks for the upload.
Great video as always!
Amazing thank for sharing very simple and deep
Thank you very much. Its very educative.
I like what you did in this video I really appreciate it.
Not paying too much attention to targeting certain notes of upcoming chords leaves us with freedom what to next.
However ending the short licks on a chord note gets the job done, and that OK for now. It stands that this is" NEW JAZZ"
It feels amazing, Danke !!
Very particular blues scales.Thanks
Perfekt , fantastisk tip og simpelt, tusinde tak Oliver
Mange tak Ture :)
Wow, great lesson! I have subscribed.
Very very helpful.
Hello Oliver,
thank you for sharing your inside. It is really a very useful way to split up a scale / mode to make paying more interest. Very good practice.
I am looking for some things to go some little steps further to spice things up. Maybe how to modal interchange or so.
Thank you so much. Have a joyful time.
Excellent!!!
Thank you so much oliver.
