Agre! 🎶
Alberto, this was exceptional, intuitive, musical, and easy learning. Quite easily the best lesson that I've seen to get the left hand and right to work together to get the grips on blues. You've taught me to get the handle on blues in just one lesson. Cheers mate
Thank you! Glad to hear it was helpful

It's very valuable that just follow your guidance the one can able to develop those skills. And especially I want to thank you for how easy and gradually you teach this lesson on improvisation so that a complete beginner able to undertand and repeat and eventually improvise. Great lesson. Thank you.
Namasthe sir,Effective lesson.Thanking you.🙏🌹😊
Many thanks Dr Raghavan
I see that the right hand is playing a C minor blues scale (which does not include a G#). But your left hand is playing C, B Flat, G# and G. It sounds great but how would I know to add a G# with my left hand if its not in the minor blues scale?
You are the only one that helped
folks learn your blues scales in g and f or better print out the nots andhave them infornt of you.
If you try to qw work it out it takes you too long. Print them out and learn the shapes.
Excellent tutorial ! 😊
What an easy yet effective way to get started... this one along with a video Tom released few days ago are my current bible to get comfy and to get to the next level with piano improvisation.
Thank you so much again

Awesome, on my fourth day of learning to play piano and wanting to play the blues I found your video after trying another dozen or so that really didn’t work well for me. Your slow simple progression of the blues chords did it. I’m now playing that with both hands. OK, it’s day four of learning to play the piano, it’s a little clumsy but I’m being slow and precise. Thanks so much. I studied acting with George Schdanoff from the Moscow art theater who worked with Michael Chekhov , He told us that not every actor can teach. I can see that the same is true for Musicians. You are born teacher! Thanks a lot!
Many thanks for your kind observations about teaching and the art of teaching. Teaching is learning is teaching! Passing on facts is not enough. It seems like you practice this approach with acting too.
Thank you a lot. Much appreciated. How is the blues going these days?
Simply but wonderfull and good for all Thanks
Most welcome 😊
Thanks for the simple and enjoyable way to get my hands to do different rhythms. I appreciate this.
Dear Francis, glad you found this tutorial helpful. Many new videos are on the way. Happy playing!
This video is very fun and inspiring! I went to my piano and did this improv right away. Thanks for your clear, step-by-step instruction. How fun!
Thats great to hear Celeste, keep it up !
Very easy way to learn thank you... Please make more similar tutorials.
Will do!
This is beautiful! I have been learning how to play piano on my own for the last few years & I am especially interested in blues. This is wonderful because you made it so easy! Thank you!!
Many thanks, glad this video has helped you!
Great to hear, thank you!
Thanks for your great Job! Is very useful!
Great! I needed this. Thank you very much!
This is a wonderful tutorial. It demystified the essence of blues improvisation for me.Simple tutorial with exceptional value for a beginner like me. Thanks Alberto, great job. Please keep it coming.
Many thanks Chandan.
Awesome video! Proper way to show what it’s described as simple and then expanding on it whilst keeping it simple still. Will try this as my blues improv is non existent.
Thank you Jamie! Please let us know who you get on!
Very helpful! Thank you
The way you break this down is really helpful.
I watched so many 12 bar blues and improv videos, I didn’t get it. This video alone made me unlock something in my mind that other videos couldn’t do. Thankyou so much!
this the best tutorial ive seen, thanks for this.
You're very welcome!
GRACIAS ALBERT 🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Please send more of blues type lessons I’m a beginner to intermediate player and want to learn to play blues piano 🎹 ❤
Very special!!!thank u
This video is amazingly helpful. Really clear. I was immediately able to start improvising. Thanks!
That's wonderful to hear Liz!
Thanks Alberto. Am I correct in thinking that you may have started off learning the Blues on piano with this painstakingly slow process given how proficient you are in your demonstration ? If so then I don’t feel so bad in my own struggles but will persist if it gets me to be as good as you!
Don't be disheartened by the struggle - it's an integral part of the learning process. Persistence is key, and every challenge you overcome brings you one step closer to proficiency. Trust me, the journey is worth it, and the joy of playing the Blues or any other style fluently on the piano is truly rewarding.
Remember, it's not just about the destination but also the journey. Enjoy every step of the way, even the challenges, because they are what make the victories so sweet.
Keep up the hard work, stay patient with yourself, and remember why you love playing the piano. You're on the right track, and I can't wait to see where your musical journey takes you. Happy practicing!
Nicely explained on how to build up. While I've done improvisation for a long time, I never gave through to the structure of it as much as the feel of it. This adds quite a bit to my thoughts on how to build it. Thanks.
Dear Jas, great you found it helpful. Thank you!
Why did you choose (for left hand) C, B flat, A flat and G as walking base line? A flat is passing, leading?
Yes it's best to not see the Blues scale as a scale but inside an effect you add to an existing scale. Blues is often combined with minor and major keys, in the case of this left hand, minor.
This is super helpful. Thanks!
Brilliantly explained and beautifully paced so that each step of development is painless - well it will be when I have practiced a lot of times. I plan to rewatch this every day before playing. Massive thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Enjoyable video, Alberto. Inspiring my practice. Thank you.
Thank you so much Charmian! Happy playing!
I love this. Gracias.
This was great - very clear and easy to follow. Thanks!
excelente gracias por compartirlo
Fantastic lesson, tanks a lot
Grazie 1000, molto interessante 😊
Listening to the introduction alone, l just realised that l am not into music. Music is into me. I am trying to study Calculus but l can't because all the scales are being played in my mind and l just can't hold it so am learning this blues scale 🤣🤣🤣
That's a great analogy of music. It is in internal thing, the theory might be external but music making is the process of internalising theory and feeling it with our emotions. Enjoy the journey!
Excellent instruction!
Great work, thank you
Very instructive....
Hi, how are you, I find your teaching techniques exceptionally helpful, finally a teacher who matches my learning style. Thank you
Many thanks, Alberto occasionally has openings for new students, he is a very popular coach on our team, you might want to learn more at www.contemporaryschoolofpiano.com or stay tuned for his next UA-cam masterclass, he is preparing some new ones.
This walking bass sounds so good, like slow, soulful, that sound that makes your face screw up while listening to it, and improv over it just sounds amazing - is there a specific name for this style of left hand pattern/walking bass or style of blues? Any more patterns or recommendations for this style?
VERY INTERESTING
