St. Mark is absolutely stunning! I'm almost sorry it's over. Can't wait to see all four pieces completed. The sunflowers are always a treat to watch. Thanks Julie.
So glad I found you, hope to learn better technic and improve my pieces created for home use and for family . Thanks for very inspirational and educational works. You are very generous with your talant! Musical background is very nice as well.
That was so OMG 😍😍😍😍 St. Marks 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 and the new sunflower substrates sooper. Loved your technique of creating layers for the sunflower seeds to give it some dimension 👌👌👌👌
Beautiful work! You had a very productive week😊. I really enjoy all of the sunflower projects. And the church where your saints projects are going is so fortunate - these pieces are stunning!
Oh I’m so happy you are working on this substrate. I bought one about 1 yr. Ago and it’s intimidating so maybe you will help me from afar to get started. TY. Your work is amazing. Any suggestions on what to substitute fat rods with? I have none.
Hi, hope this is an appropriate question to ask here, if not, just delete. Have you ever heard of, or used, Litokol Translucent Grout? It is sort of clear and is suppose to take on the color of the glass. It looks like it would be great for using on a mosaic that has very small pieces. I made a Dragonfly with bamboo that I cut 3/16th inch squares of glass to match a counted cross stitch pattern. I was going to leave it ungrouted but this might work so you don't just see all grout because the pieces are so small.
I went to a Dollar Tree looking for the round glass substrate, but they did not have any. Going to check out a different location, what section would they be in? Also any thoughts on how to display or hang it, I am assuming it is tempered glass, so no drilling a hole?
They are in the kitchen section. I think to be used as cutting boards. There are square as well and some have designs on them (which ruins them as a substrate.) I'm using as a trivet, so no need to hang.
Thank you so much, I appreciate how quickly you reply. I am out of tempered glass, so if I can find them, you bet I am going to test them out! Love your videos, get so excited when I see a new one!
Julie you are truly the sunflower queen!
Thanks! Getting there, one piece at a time!

Smalti is a good option. I just happen to have a bunch of rods that I rarely use.

Yes. Peter Twining and many others have used it with good results. I have not used it yet.

They are not labeled tempered. I haven't broken one to find out!

what is go board? thanks.
It’s a lightweight backer board that can be used as a substrate. www.tileshop.com/products/goboard-tile-backer-board-3-ft-x-5-ft-x-1-2-in-350052
Why is mark a lion and not a man?
The commission was for the symbolic representation of the Four Evangelists and St. Mark’s symbol is a winged lion with a halo.
My inspiration
So happy to hear that!
