I'm a Christian too but that old guy was just plain obnoxious!! It was like he was trying to force religion on them and didn't even bother listening to what they had to say in return. Being a Catholic in all my 17 years of life, I've been taught scripture and tradition to the point where it's all just common knowledge and habit for me and it has become my ultimate truth. However, I'm also aware that this isn't everyone's truth and the things that my faith believes in and has been teaching for years isn't accepted as factual by many. Peter, to me, was very relatable and a good example of how a conversation about faith and belief (which is one of the touchiest topics in my opinion) should be approached and handled. He never imposed his beliefs on the other participants and opted to just listen and politely raise some of his inputs and opinions during the discussion. James on the other hand, was very passionate about Christianity which really isn't a bad thing in the slightest. In fact, it's great that he's so proud of his beliefs but how he interjected people and practically shoved his personal truths in the faces of the non believers was incredibly disrespectful. It's important to be true to your own faith but it's also important to respect other people's beliefs and be open minded enough to accept that not everyone shares your truths and understands things the way you do.

The religious position about deities isn't supported by the evidence but is continually thrust forward like it's a given. Overly confident conclusions without evidence coming down the tubes over the years do not a god prove. Atheism requires fewer assumptions about knowable reality. First Impression We have closed minds (being a conservative Christian) because we don’t need to be influenced by society (this world). We are called to be apart of it. If you don't believe in a Flying Spaghetti Monster you aren't saying that you believe there might not be one, but you see zero evidence for it and thus do not conclude it to be real. Atheism is the same, most atheists acknowledge that they may be wrong, but there is zero evidence and thus they have no belief in a god.

Her life wasn't good and basically she told people how she lost her faith because the events what happened to her (abusive relationship - and her father said that she should have suffer her whole life in that marriage for the sake of Heaven) and the image what she got about God, like God is loving, caring and protecting was totally opposite. There was no room for both statements in her life. But the old man (Jeremy) was freaky. He was like those people who you don't want to talk to in any way, because he doesn't listen, just talks. I agree, there is passion and then there is dismissing other views altogether. I didnt come out the womb with the belief that "Jesus is Lord and all sinners are going to Hell!".
Instead I was a sinner myself like the rest, Jesus never sinned. What allowed me to come back to Christ was me taking a good look at myself and realized i am far away from a good person.
Then after sometime I find out that only God is good. I listened to Pastor Darby and through him the Holy Spirit pointed the mirror directly at my soul.

why would the possibility be higher that a God (a being that is so powerfull he can create everything and any natural laws doesn't mean anything to him, is the definition of the word Perfect and should be by far more complex than the whole Universe) can exist without any reason but humans and other species (that have flaws and needed to go through million of Years of evolution) can't exist without anyone creating them. I think it’s impossible that a Christian has never once doubted higher power, I am a 100% Christian, and in my life I have had doubts. there’s moments when a Christian has had those doubts.
You have to start somewhere. I think that most people have to research and learn different religions before they can officially say "I'm all for it!" Or "I'm all against it!" And like you, I'm also Christian and I've also had my doubts in the past.

Being a Catholic in all my 17 years of life, I've been taught scripture and tradition to the point where it's all just common knowledge and habit for me and it has become my ultimate truth. However, I'm also aware that this isn't everyone's truth and the things that my faith believes in and has been teaching for years isn't accepted as factual by many. Peter, to me, was very relatable and a good example of how a conversation about faith and belief (which is one of the touchiest topics in my opinion) should be approached and handled. He never imposed his beliefs on the other participants and opted to just listen and politely raise some of his inputs and opinions during the discussion. James on the other hand, was very passionate about Christianity which really isn't a bad thing in the slightest. In fact, it's great that he's so proud of his beliefs but how he interjected people and practically shoved his personal truths in the faces of the non believers was incredibly disrespectful. It's important to be true to your own faith but it's also important to respect other people's beliefs and be open minded enough to accept that not everyone shares your truths and understands things the way you do.
S K while I understand what you mean when you say different people's truths, there is only one correct ultimate truth. The problem for everybody is their confidence in their conclusions. The religious position about deities isn't supported by the evidence but is continually thrust forward like it's a given. Overly confident conclusions without evidence coming down the tubes over the years do not a god prove. Atheism requires fewer assumptions about knowable reality. Low key I felt the same way with the atheists, they had the "atheist sterotype" who talks about all that went wrong in her life and says well "if God existed I would've never went through that" and then the two others who also showed all atheists aren't like that, Just me who noticed that?

Agree with the comment. Regardless or faith, the elderly man is wrong in a sense that he cannot push information and opinion down someone's throat. Also people cannot blame God for "bad events" if they don't believe. That's faulty reasoning. The best conversation came from the 2 non stereotypical theists and 2 non stereotypical atheist

Natalie, it's true but we can only imagine how bad it must have been for her to be that aggressive towards God. One way or another, I feel like she was only trying to explain herself but couldn't realize that no one in that room was against her.
For me the Redhead woman (Nancy) wasn't agressive, more likely salty or bitter. Her life wasn't good and basically she told people how she lost her faith because the events what happened to her (abusive relationship - and her father said that she should have suffer her whole life in that marriage for the sake of Heaven) and the image what she got about God, like God is loving, caring and protecting was totally opposite. There was no room for both statements in her life.
But the old man (Jeremy) was freaky. He was like those people who you don't want to talk to in any way, because he doesn't listen, just talks. He didn't care about anyone in that room, he just went there to vomit his opinion and that's it. This kind of people are exist in every culture and every place, and all of them are pain in the a__.
Even the younger Christians were looking at the old guy like "You are the reason why so many atheists hate us"

I agree, there is passion and then there is dismissing other views altogether. The young lady (whose name i didn't catch) seemed extremely passionate and confident in her views but was always understanding and respectful. Those two were a perfect example of what Christianity should be, and what it has sadly become for many.

Chester Argyle I never meant to say that the old man is *bad* per se, what I meant was that he's stereotyping himself by acting like God is ultimate answer. He's acting like what I used to think Christians were like (not being open minded and unwilling to hear another person's opinion, like him claiming that the women beside him was agnostic even though she insisted that she wasn't. Thinking that his God has all the answers while blindly believing and unwilling to think even for a moment that maybe not everything has been figured out yet.) The women wearing the green shirt isn't any better however. She attempts to shut down the Asian guy (who is in my opinion a true Christian) for "baiting" her when all he was doing was asking her a simple question. She seems to assume that all Christians are close minded and are just looking to "trap" her with their questions and force their beliefs on to her when all they're are doing is having a civil discussion. She too is unwilling to hear another sides opinions. She's what I *thought* all atheists were like back when I was a hard core Christian.
This isn't really relevant but I've been on both sides of the spectrum, both a close minded Christian and an ignorant atheist and watching these two reminded me of not only what I thought all Christians and atheist were like but of how I used to be myself. Now I know better. We're all just people who want to find an answer to the most mysterious question: "Why are we here? Why do we exist? What is our purpose?" It's not necessarily that any side has been misinformed, it's that we've all been informed to the potential answer of this question in different ways and that we should discuss, criticise and debate each other. Not necessarily to convince the other side but to *understand* the other side and maybe even use this discussion to come to our own conclusions about the world. Ok with that kumbaya mushy crap over thanks for reading this long ass paragraph, you're a saint.

I myself dont belive in a higher being but I dont know everything and neither do you so there could be an infanite number of possibilities for what is right. Of course nobody has figured the answer to this out yet so none of us are right and none of us are wrong.

Vasili Vlachos i was lost like you and other commentators here was alcoholic cursed alot video game addict full of anger couldnt control myself 2 much was addicted to cigars was smoking pot and one day when i was 20 i read a book of revelation the last book in Bible and i had a dream where i was hugged by Jesus and all was shiny white around me best dream i ever head felt so happy but i continued with my life and was just growing in my addictions endless đagic circle and ome day when i smoked my last ciggar then i said mom dad i quit smoking and later that same day Holy Spirit convicted me of my sin amd i repented of my sins and put my faith and trust in Christ alone(being born again spiritually new heart). Christ came into my heart and Holy Spirit started to cleansing me. Burden of my sins was just taken away what a relief praise God. I got new heart spiritually heart of flesh- to walk with the Lord Jesus trough the power of His Holy Spirit. And you like many others have heart of stone rebelious heart want to go your own way. But only Jesus Christ can give you new life and new heart. I encourage you to read New Testament would suggest you start reading book of John. And when conviciton from the Holy Spirit comes repent and put your faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work on cross.
