    **An important Update!** In the video the Spring Perch where the spring sits on; the tang must face towards the body (tang in the back). I installed it tang to the front since that's how it was when I took it off. The correct way is Tang on the back or you will have trouble bolting the shock and the spring wanting to bow out!

    Hi! I have a 62 Falcon Ranchero with a 170 inline six and I just wanted to say thank you so much for posting such an in-depth video of the process going through the front suspension. I was recently gifted a set of upper shafts and had absolutely no clue as to where they went, and watching your video helped me locate them!!! This video is such a good foundation guide for when I go through and redo my suspension. Once again, thank you so much for posting videos like these because they help young car enthusiasts like myself keep our vehicles on the road and educate us throughout our journey. :)

      No problem, glad it was helpful! If you have any questions ask away. This little falcon drives so smooth it’s unreal. The perfect cruiser

    What a surprise when you took the fenders, bumper, and almost the entire front end off to paint the wheel wells. I loved the results though, nice and shiny!

    • @OmarRamirezGalaxie
      @OmarRamirezGalaxie  Рік тому +2

      Lol I figured if I wanted to paint it right it should all come off. All the fender hardware was rusted out as well, so it made the job a lot longer

    Incredible sweat equity journey on your wife's Falcon! There are always a few surprises waiting for you on suspension work when you have a 50-60 year old car...you solved the riddles and the Falcon looks great. Thanks for your time!

    You installed your spring perches backwards. Might be why you had trouble installing the shock. This will make the car ride stiffer and shorten the life of the spring perch as the rubber is always in a bind now. The side of the perch with the coil spring stop should go to the inside, not the outside.

    • @OmarRamirezGalaxie
      @OmarRamirezGalaxie  Рік тому +4

      Hi Laing, you are correct. I’ve had a couple people message me about the perch orientation. I installed it the way it was on but I’m guessing someone had replaced the perch at some point. I will update! Thank you!

    Two things, I think I would check the ball joint stud diameter for the '62 and '63 ball joints and if they were the same I would weld the mounting holes closed on the later model ball joint and grind it to fit the earlier upper control arm, then I would re-drill the holes to match the earlier control arm and use the more available later model '63 ball joints from now on. If that's not possible, then I would check the mounting stud diameter and center-to-center width of the '63 upper control arm as well as the ball joint diameter, and if that matched up I would just get a brand new '63 upper control arm from Moog and install it, even if I had to get the special cone-shaped drill to oversize the ball joint hole on the original '62 steering arms. In other words, I would try to use the '63 stuff on the '62 if I could because the parts are more readily available. Nice job on your Falcon in this video.

    My 63 Ford falcon was taken from me when someone ran a stop sign and I T-Boned them going 45. It hurts me to see how beautiful my car could have been. I did a lot of work to it, but never got to replace the floor pan and paint the body.

    Omar the 65-66 Mustang Shock towers/mounts look to be the same, the rest of the suspension for 65-68 looks the same as the falcon's but that is really no Suprise as the Mustang is based on the Falcon/Comet. IIRC this applies to the rear also.

    • @OmarRamirezGalaxie
      @OmarRamirezGalaxie  Рік тому

    I recently did my suspension on my 62 Fairlane. Everything was replaced. Wow, you're right it's a task to find things, but it's complete. I had to drill out my uppers and weld to fit those upper ball joints. Replace a blown out control arm and a steering knuckle. I ended up with an extra NOS knuckle for a '62 falcon (passenger side) if you need it. You can also have your center link remanufactured much cheaper than replacing it. Good work brother! Where in CA are you?

    • @OmarRamirezGalaxie
      @OmarRamirezGalaxie  Рік тому

      62 fairlanes are pretty sweet. I’m guessing they have similar suspension to this falcon. I think I’m good on the spindles. I’m in Long Beach area

    Omar, That was nice work. You handled all those guaranteed unexpected issues really well. But you didn't paint the brake hubs, Bro. Hey, just kidding. I know you were probably pressed for time! It was really good to see you putting out a video on this sweet falcon.

    • @OmarRamirezGalaxie
      @OmarRamirezGalaxie  Рік тому +2

      Hahaha yes they will be painted as well. I’m going to convert it to a dual bowl master cylinder instead of the single. It will be much safer that way, then I will paint the hubs. Thanks!

    Looks pretty great! I heard somewhere that POR15 is susceptible to UV rays. Does something to it so it doesn't last as long or something and needed to be top coated if its in the sunlight? Is that true or just some negative chirp? I think that stuff looks killer.

    I have a silly question: I subscribed to your channnel only two days ago and I have watched nearly 80% of all your viedeos. I did not see how this car came to your place. Did I miss something?
    This car is small and practical for a lady. As my wife is getting older, she prefers to drive our modern daily beaters. At least my daughter is enjoying my vintage cars. Maybe I will let her use my 63 Corvair Monza as a daily driver once it is finally finished and has passed ou stupidly strict inspections.
