- "Be My Baby" is Brian Wilson's all-time favorite song. Written by Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich, and Phil Spector and first recorded by The Ronettes in 1963, the Beach Boys legend performs his Wall of Sound version of Be My Baby live at Jeff Barry & Friends 2000 concert in Santa Barbara, CA. Watch The Ronettes Be My Baby 1965 performance here: • The Ronettes Be My Bab...
The Beach Boys' I Can Hear Music (3:09) by the same songwriters features Ronnie Spector on lead vocals with Brian Wilson. The 1969 hit single is from The Beach Boys album 20/20. The Ronettes first recorded I Can Hear Music in 1966.
Great to hear Brian sing at this stage in life. His songs brought much joy to many in the 60's & 70's. Way to go and thank you Brian!
Glad you enjoyed it

It's a nice remake of BE MY BABY, but no one can sing it AS GOOD AS RONNIE SPECTOR.
RIP Ronnie Spector. You will be missed and always remembered for this song.
While he rots in hell for cold blooded murder
HUH?? Dude was a murderer or did we forget that part??
@@donlitos that's PHIL Spector lol
Lovely Ronnie had an awful time with that psycho .. he controlled her career and life . Horrible person .
God bless dear ronnie all my love DOC.
You cannot get a greater honour then having Brian Wilson personally sing your song. Classic song sung by a classic Beach Boy.
Carl sang the lead vocal
@@bcssylfI think he’s referring to be my baby. But yes, Carl did sing I can hear music.
We who grow up with this kind of music are the lucky one. NEVER again will this kind of a music be make again.
Im 70 and will always be anchored by this wonderful music. I'm blessed growing up in the 50's and 60's.
Dear dear Ronnie, just like Brian Wilson when I heard “ Be my baby “ for the first time at the age of 15 “ I was blown away “. Where you are going there are many with great musical talent. Rest In Peace beautiful lady.
When she walked over to Brian and sang to him, and Brian gives a rare smile, it brought tears to my eyes!
Two freakin' legends... we are all the better for having seen and heard their work.
Brian Wilson and Ronnie Spector make me cry with so much joy. GOATS! Ronnie Spector reminds me of my aunt Shirlee who was a wonderful singer and entertainer. She draws in the audience and has them eating from her hand. WONDERFUL ENTERTAINMENT! PERFECTION!
Back when music was good...great memories...
I love Brian’s backup vocal on I Can Hear Music. Great job by Ronnie Spector. RIP, Ronnie.
I grew up with the Beach Boys. I was so damn lucky. Life's been good!
I can hear this song’s influence on Brian’s music. Ronnie and Brian might not have the voices they once had but they still are a pleasure to listen to.
I think Brian sounded great!
Very good. I can hear just a hint of his younger self in his voice. This is iconic.
Absolutely fabulous. To see and hear her belting out those lyrics with such stage presence, clear diction and so much enjoyment and enthusiasm is wonderful. What a privilege to have been around at this time,
...more music like this on radio, TV ,don't forget that young people never hear about it...for them it will be something new, they'll love it...
I wish I could've experienced this woman live in concert just once. So beautiful.
Ronnie with Brian, just sublime!
Two talented singers. It is like a dream come true.
Another tear jerking moment from Brian and Ronnie. I love Ronnie say the sound of Brian is brilliant.
I rate Brian Wilson with Mozart. After all he went through, how the hell can he still sing???!!!! I'd love to meet him.
,
Two of my personal musical heroes! Both heroic survivors!
WELL, TWO LEGENDS ON STAGE TOGETHER! ALSO TWO BEAUTIFUL SONGS, WE'RE SPOILT! R.I.P. RONNIE, YOU BEAUTIFUL LADY.
Ronnie still sounds great.
Love seeing the two of them singing together.
That's got to be a treat for Brian to be able to sing this, his favorite song, onstage. I don't remember him ever doing this. Probably a first for him.

I love Ronnie Spector.
Moi aussi...
I am so glad Brian came back to us , and shared one of his heroes, what a gentleman!
The talent of two brilliant musicians live on stage . R.I.P. Ronnie 🙏🏼🌺❤️🩹
I’m a big fan of both Ronnie Spector, and Brian Wilson. Brian was a flat out genius with all the great songs that he wrote for The Beach Boys.
I’m 62 and I had a big crush on Ronnie Spector when I was a kid. Man what a fireball she was! Very pretty girl, and what a GREAT singer!
RIP Ronnie. Your music will live on forever.🎼🙏🥲
My fave Beach Boys song is I Can Hear Music. Yes, I know they didn’t write it but the late, great Carl Wilson made it his own. Beautiful song. I miss him so much.
I had a very long day at work today !
I needed a song that will put me in the state that I needed to be in. Anything with Brian Wilson puts me there, however with Ronnie it went over the top. Thank you so much Brian and Ronnie. Thank you so much for everything you have given me
Rock on!
RIP Ronnie Spector 😥💔🌹
I sure wish that Carl was around to see Ronnie Spector sing "I Can Hear Music", I'm sure he'd have loved it.
Phil Spector wrote it and The Ronettes did it first... The Beach Boys covered it.
But I am a HUGE Beach Boys fan... Bein as OCD as I am...I had to point that out to ya.
@@DummyYEEEAAHHHHH Dang, you're totally right. I don't know where I got it in my brain that "I Can Hear Music" was an early Carl song, but yeah it's Phil Spector through and through.
Carl and the boys did it better in my opinion
@Chris Reiswig The Ronettes recorded it in 1966, then Carl Wilson produced a Beach Boys version of it in 1969. Interestingly, Freddie Mercury released a version of it around 1974 using another name for himself.
Timeless. Why I love UA-cam. And Ronnie and Brian. 🙂 👍
The best
What a voice she has!
love you Brian Wilson and Ronnie Spector
This video is so touching. It made me cry when I saw Ronnie holding hands with Brian Wilson.
Really
"Be My Baby" will be played when I die!!!! ...Great send off.
PURE MUSICAL GENIUS! Brian ranks at, or close, to the top!
Cannot get any better than this. A special one for a special person.
Great to see the two of them, both have had their share of tough times, Brian’s drug and mental illness, Ronnie being married to Phil who kept her locked away for years.
Astonishing song, perfect performance ❤️
I remember the first time I heard "Be My Baby" and what I remember the most is that it instantly became one of my favorite songs and that if our HiFi...yes HiFi not stereo, could have been turned up to 11 rather than 10, I would have done it...somehow I just wanted that sound to blow right through me!!!
Brian Wilson on I Can Hear Music, fantastis!
Excellent & so much fun!
Yes it was!
Real music, lyrics and Great harmony
Wow Mr Wilsons still got it! Fantastic.... first song i ever sang to a Girl
Stars in every sense of the word
Brian what a beautiful voice and a.great song.
The 1960's wouldn't be the 60s without Ronnie and Brian
Brian still has the music in him, but I miss the twinkle in his eyes and his smile. Ronnie got just a hint of that back when she held his hand. Nice!!
Amazing, so lifted so talented
The good guys win in the end! Good Stuff!
what a beautiful human being; Brian is love. xoxo
I love that little thing she does at the end there, that is cute.
Super Memories of Two American Icons!
I love how much he loves this song! 'Cause I do, too!!
This is to be loved,it is gold,to enjoy, alive, blessed to be able to see this, thanks so much forever.
Love it Brian struggled with it but love em all
Love Ronnie and brian
Gets a like because it's two legends still doing what they love to do sing
One of the best songs EVER!!
Wow they both still have it. How ironic that Brian is singing on a song that he wasn't on when The Beach Boys covered I Can Hear Music.
Brian was always with the band in the studio doing the vocals. He didn't do concerts but the others didn't play on the recordings. Only sing, with Brian
@@jasfan8247 Right, but he didn’t sing with the group on this one.
@@stuartb3609 ah yes, i don't know exactly but when the others sing lead Brian would be singing harmony i thought. Because he was always recording even when the group was touring. So i thought, it could be. Thx for check up. And my fave Beach boy tune is Sail on, sailor (beside the classics offcourse)🏖️
@@jasfan8247 This was at the height of Brian’s mental health issues and brother Carl took charge. Agreed about SOS. Love the live version from the 72/73 version on the ‘Concert’ album. (74?)
@@stuartb3609 i didn't know about a live version . Probably with those Southafrican guys in the group around 73/74. I'm going to try to find that. Thx
Brave and courageous Brian...brilliant xx
Absolutely
Brian Wilson looks great! The memories that I get, makes feel so happy and nostalgic. Ronnie still has her touch.
Please have your eyes checked. He looks like a ZOMBIE.
@@thedolphin5428he really cant sing either. This guy got real lucky in life.
@@williamludlow3788 He was so very seldom the lead for the Beach Boys, he had the power to lead the harmony. He also wrote most of the BB"s music. Bro. Carl, cousin Mike, And great friend Al were usually the lead, alone or a pair or all three. And Saraswati compared to past years he does look great. I've seen him when he would have looked better dead. Also look at tour promo photos from the time, he was mia on many of those tours.
@@thedolphin5428 No he doesn't that is mean and untrue.
@@williamludlow3788 Well aren't you special.
Best days and times in america.. These days were the best
Brian sound great . Ronnie what a voice.
Great memories
God Bless Brian!
67 yo man still Love Ronnie Spector,,goose bumps now
So talented. So sweet from both singers.
I love Brian and you all
That "wall of sound" is also there...and maybe more evident in "Don't Worry Baby"....
...¡qué linda versión!...
(todo un honor, ser cantado por los Beach Boys)🥳
love ronnie 🙏
People.!!!! Brians behavior is due to Drug Burnout, almost died He was a clinical vegetable It was in the media as top news years ago !!!!
It's a miracle he is able to move and sing!!!!! The reason the crowd is applauding him like crazy , is giving a legend the RESPECT he deserves!!!
I was very emotional to see him perform , music is the only thing that keeps him alive !!!!!
Another talent ruined by drugs , his brother , the drummer, died years ago from an OD!!!!! Very sad what happened to the Wilson.family
God bless you Brian and that wonderful crowd !!!!
Drug burnout was just the final straw and end result of his mental illness... I'm sure his father's beatings and subsequent head trauma(s) was also to blame. BUT yes, in spite of all of this, he created such beauty!
Jorge Estomba Dennis Wilson drowned.
A lot of Brian's physical issues are not because of burnout from illegal drugs. They are symptoms of Tardive Dyskinesia, a known side effect of the many anti-psychotic drugs Dr. Eugene Landy gave him in the 1980s.
Add to that that Brian was deaf in one ear due to one of his fathers beatings. Amazing talented artist.
it’s so wild for one song to have had so much influence on a band (or solo artist)
Sarah Whitaker ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Great song , Brian looks Good ,
Extraordinaire chanson. Merci. Chers amis.
Blackpearlguy, its so nice to see Ronnie and Brian together,I had tears un my êtes thank you

The great Brian Wilson and the wonderful voise of Ronnie
"Just like Ronnie say..."
Beautiful duet! Love them both! Great song and memories to!
Dam Ronnie sounds good doing Beach Boys, love this video from the 2 of them.
Ma la grandissima RONNY è UNICA e inevitabile. , R.I.P.
For all of you Brian Wilson naysayers out there who think he no longer "has it", here is a sample of Brian Wilson from his 2015 "No Pier Pressure" album, doing what he has always done, writing, arranging, producing, and singing, now in his 70's:

If you can't hear and appreciate the genius of his music, I feel sorry for you.
Wall of Sound
The Wall of Sound is a music production technique for pop and rock music recordings developed by record producer Phil Spector at Gold Star Studios in Los Angeles, during the early 1960s. Working with such audio engineers as Larry Levine and the session musicians who became known as The Wrecking Crew, Spector created a dense, layered, reverberant sound that came across well on AM radio and jukeboxes popular in the era. He created this sound by having a number of electric and acoustic guitarists perform the same parts in unison, adding musical arrangements for large groups of musicians up to the size of orchestras, then recording the sound using an echo chamber.
brian wilson was so talanted and great friend of ronie spector
Merveilleuse, merveilleuse Ronnie, que d'amour et de bonheur vous nous avez donné...
fabulous always at the top thank you .
Ronnie and Brian! Doesn't get much better! RIP RONNIE !
Ronnie's voice is pretty much shot....but it doesn't really matter. She's STILL Ronnie Spector. Her 'uh, oh, uh, uh, uh, oh's' are the stuff of pop music legend. She'll always be a national treasure. Bless you Ronnie. Even if your voice has faded.......
Great show also the back up singers sound great and are pretty
Love the bass.
We know there's a new angel in heaven: RONNIE SPECTOR!
That's for trying Brian. Oh, and I'll take the singer on the right. She's beautiful.
My respects Brian.
