You’re right in my neck of the woods (Rancho Santa Fe). Here in SD you can see the beach, mountains, and deserts all in a day. My 3rd Gen has conquered much of Borrego (Fonts Point, Split Mtn, Wind Caves, Borrego Springs sculptures, and just about everything in between). Opted for a Kodiak Canvas flex bow in lieu of a roof top tent. I’ve got the smaller Anker powerhouse, which is still great for 1-2 nights of camping. Thanks, Jon!
Last night I filled up at Sam’s Club in Pearl City, O’ahu, Hawai’i for $3.939/gallon. We finally dropped under $4.00. Normal stations are still over $4.50
Oh shit, I have lived in both Fallbrook and Vista! North County baby (also lived in Oceanside)! Also, great seeing the 76 E towards Palomar Mountain... used to ride my motorcycle out there all the time!

Amazing 🤩. I agree with you. California looks beyond green. So beautiful 🤩. With each part you add to the off-road. It looks better and better. Today got added to the waitlist for a Solar Octane TRD Off-road. 😎 Keep up the great work. :D

@@TRDJon boggles my mind lol. They expect free, high quality, content and don’t seem to understand the costs involved in making these videos. It’s not like you’re pushing bad products too, all your sponsored videos are solid products that actually serve a purpose for the followers to consider buying. Some people man!
Your truck looks absolutely awesome. Personal I am having a tough time justifying buying a new tacoma because my 2019 TRD 4x4 is giving me 0 problems. I used to run AT tires but last year I decided to just go with Michelin defender LTX which just do everything well. Obviously one shouldn't go rock crawling with these even though there are plenty of UA-cam videos out there with people actually doing it. I do so much long distance driving myself and I seem to be able to average between 19.5 to 21 on average and the best I have done is 25.9 hwy only. Everything is stock on my truck but it is time for me to upgrade my suspension because the stock suspension on these really such butt.
Not to split hairs but wouldn't it be 7%? Factory diameter 31.6", new tires 33.8". So multiply the dash odometer by 1.07 for accurate distance travelled & to get really specific plug that number in against gallons at pump. I haven't measured those Nittos so trusting online calculator for the 285 75 17 diameter of 33.8". Same goes for speedometer, whatever you see on dash, add 7%. Example 60 = 64.2 mph
Larger tires due to increased circumference have a longer distance to travel for one revolution, making your odometer tick up at a slower rate, and also makes your speedometer read slower than you are actually moving. So even though your tires are heavier, reducing mpg's, your vehicle thinks it traveled less distance for a given gas tank, which it then calculates a lower fuel economy than it actually should be.
oh sweet drive!!! love that area, would be dope to visit one day! I am looking at all my options when it comes to my basic build for the SR, Top of the list is the Pre-Load Collar, I "Might" do a Westcott Pre Load Collar Vs the Traditional Spacer Lift shoot out and list the pros and cons of each! Yeah, the big boy (Tundra) is more comfortable, powerful, but the size can be a issue, the midsize truck line is where its at for tight trails!
With the larger circumference wheels / tires, is your speedometer accurate wrt the mileage and gas mileage ? I would use a GPS speedometer on your phone to verify the truck speedometer with the new tires 😊
Overall what did you think about westcott pre load so far on/off road? You did mentioned on UA-cam it more stiff on pavement is it worth it for long term?
Jon, Do you plan on installing the beat-sonic amp in the tacoma? Really cant fathom how much of an improvement that little unit can make, would love to hear one in a taco first hand but understand thats nearly impossible at this point, Ive got the JBL system is my sr5 & really a waste of money, system is lethargic, I expected more.....
Awesome! The West Coast and Arizona are beautiful areas. Arizona, my home state. Question. Given you lifted and increased the tire size, do you need to recalibrate your speedometer?
Does any company out there sell some sort of calibration system to connect or upload to the truck so that it reads the correct miles traveled & MPG based on new tire size? 🤔
Oh I get you. I’m not 100% sure on this one if it has that feature for if it was plugged in at your house or something. I mainly will be using this for camping purposes. They do make larger units for homes though.
Why does nobody use an app like Fuelly? It does all the math for you…just input your odometer mileage, price per gallon, and number of gallons per fill up and the app does the rest and tracks all the stats.

Great time for sure
Hey! That looks like Ocotillo Wells SVRA! My son works there. Hope you enjoyed it.

2 questions for you
Is the price difference from the gen 3 and new Tacoma worth it?
