    Love the info. We have the same truck so we think alike! Only difference is I used iPhone and CarPlay has been good once you realize the volume for CarPlay and the audio system are separate. No issues connecting when I start the truck. Also have not used the digital key at all. I thought I would but I just haven’t. I just hit 1000 miles and have only driver her hard once. She can definitely get up to expressway speeds quickly! I agree with your likes & issues!

      Thanks I appreciate that and it's good to hear the CarPlay side too. I figured it had to be something like that. When people were saying they had to crank the volume all the way up to hear anything I was thinking they were either deaf or there was an easy fix. Thanks for watching!

    I like your real-world review. I plan to buy a Tacoma but probably not until this winter. It will be a manual transmission version, either TRD Off-Road or just the SR. Either way I would soon upgrade the tires for better all-terrains, and I could add skid plates on the SR, so not sure the Off-Road is worth an extra 5,000. I would not use subscription services and probably wouldn't even use the wallet key since I must carry a house key and a key for our other vehicle anyway.

    • @BenInBeta

    Awesome truck but I have concerns/questions about the long term reliability of the turbo and the price increase. I wonder if Toyota did a major price increase to deal/pay with all the warranty issues these trucks are having based on other YT video/forums experiences. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  10 днів тому

      That for watching and the comment. Yes with every new vehicle launch you never know about some of those things. I'm less concerned about the turbo than many others. That technology has come a very long way, but if we keep the vehicle long enough, it'll need to be replaced. We know that and we'll account for that cost.

      Hi Marvin thanks for watching I actually have a video on the Falken wildpeak at4ws I switched them out the first week after I got the truck and I have a comparison video of how they performed in the snow which is obviously not mud but they feel great in the truck they are stock size. And while we weren't out in super muddy conditions with all the snow melts here recently I thought they performed quite well on the trails and they're great on the road.

      Thanks for the reply Jason. I kept the stock size, but purchased Falken Wildpeak AT4Ws and sold the stock tires to offset that cost. I just filled up today and the math calculations were about 17.3 and the truck was saying 15.2. Not that I've reset everything we'll see what I get.

      Interested to see if they increase gas tank size for next year.. Seems way to small for me, especially if overland and pulling small trailer. Love the gas tank size in my 2008 4Runner Limited.. Easily goes 400+ without fillup.. Will be waiting to see what Trailhunters are like but have heard some definite negatives for overlanding with TH (like dont go through water). Probably going to wait til the 25s are out and things calm down a bit.. 4Runner still going strong..

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  2 місяці тому

      @@billcampbell8426 Yep it's pretty small. The new 4Runners will be out next year too and maybe those will have a larger gas tank? After I filled up this morning, reset the computer mileage info and drove for a maybe like 10 miles it was over 17 with a high around 18.2. So at least that part improved. My calculations on the first tank were 17.6 while the truck showed 15.2. I'm not sure why you couldn't drive through water in the TH model though. The battery is under the rear seat so as long as the cabin isn't getting wet I think you'd be fine. I know Toyota has been careful to call it a high desert intake and not a snorkel, but if you don't drive through a river over the hood, I think you'll be ok.

    What's your opinion about the new coil suspension in the rear versus the leaf spring, is there a huge difference

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  Місяць тому +1

      I thought that the 3rd Gen road pretty well on the road and off. That being said the rear end dances around a bit less on rough roads and the ride is great in the 4th Gen. My wife has back issues, pretty major ones and even on the trails she was impressed by the comfort of the ride. Thanks for watching. I'll do an update soon and include the ride quality as part of that.

      @BenInBeta  Місяць тому

      Sure, inside the vehicle you hear kind of a lower note to the engine and exhaust while you're driving, but that's not what somebody in the outside of the vehicle would hear. It sounds like a 4-cylinder and at low speeds, even like a diesel. Basically they're pumping some fake sound in to make the engine sound a little bit More bassy and full. Almost like a V6 turbocharged engine might sound

      @NorthweSteelheadJunkies 2 місяці тому +1

      @BenInBeta it's a fact that you lose 30% horsepower at mile high elevation, you can't trick physics. Point being the fact your getting that milage is impressive. Cone take a drive at sea level and you will see a noticeable increase in power and milage.

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  2 місяці тому

      Yes, I totally understand that, but I'm just saying that others have reported getting EPA numbers even in the 🏔️ s. We definitely got better mileage in our previous vehicle at sea level. I do think the turbocharger helps in that department some too. Not arguing, just trying to compare as close to others as I can.

  • @slam3630
    @slam3630 Місяць тому

    Too many bad designs. I currently own a 3rd Gen and was considering upgrading to a 2024 but changed my mind after sitting inside. The cabin feels very claustrophobic especially below the knee area.
    The engineer who decided this must be a midget. They decreased the left and right knee area to increase the center console. Very noticeable on the passenger side if you sit centered in your seat, your left leg is going to rest or rub the center stack and there is zero room to move your left foot which will rest on a slight hump of the center stack.
    On the driver side it's a bit better but you also lose some side to side and have less room for your right leg to move around on a long drive.
    Also all the buttons next to the cup holders is a bad design. Think about how many times something has slipped out of your hand or you're trying to place your heavy Yeti cup in that cup holder, missing and depressing one of the buttons by accident and trying to figure out which button got depressed by accident at 75 MPH in traffic. That's an accident by itself waiting to happen.
    Back seat leg room is still disappointing. The interior of this 4th Gen should have been a bit larger. The engineer mentioned that the 4th Gen was kept the same length so that it can fit in the garage but failed to understand that 84% of them don't park in the garage.

    • @BenInBeta
      @BenInBeta  Місяць тому

      Thanks for watching. A lot of that is definitely personal. I felt kinda the opposite with pretty much all of that. The seating position is far better for me and I don't feel like I need more room, but again it's subjective. I also like the placement of the buttons and dials. They've been super easy to use without really needing to look. You can always spill something, but I'll let you know if that ever is an issue or not. It sounds like you love your 3rd Gen and that's a great truck too!
