Transporting my Lectric XP bike in a Craftsman 50 gallon tote.

  • Hi guys, in this video I will show you how I transport my Lectric XP bike using the Craftsman 50 gallon tote with wheels. The main reason for the tote is that it keeps the bike secure in the back of the car, and that you can use 2 people to lift it in and out of the trunk. The bike is still heavy and cumbersome, so I would advise 2 people to do this if possible. When my wife helps me, this process is much easier and smoother. Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. Remember this is just a way that I do it and not necessarily the way best suited for your needs. Thanks for watching and Ride Safe!

    I have the Yamee XL. Its a little bit bigger but I transport it the same way in a 55 Gallon sized container. Rather than lifting the bike and placing it into the container I found loading and unloading by myself a lot easier if you place the container in a vertical position. Then you just carefully roll it in and set it down horizontally.

  • @oysterjohn5669

    I came up with a better way of loading the bike into the tote. I set the tote on end, resting against the back of the vehicle. I ROLL the folded XP into the tote and pivot/slide the tote into the vehicle. Just reverse the procedure to unload. Much easier on the back.

    • @oysterjohn5669
      @oysterjohn5669 2 роки тому +2

      @@Nolasusan1 The back wheel will turn the crank when it rolls backwards and bind, but you can usually roll it out of the tote and unfold the bike.

    Great video! Only thing I would do different is it once its loaded in the vehicle is to spin the box around with the wheels facing out, so when unloading and they make contact with the ground first so that the box isn't scraping the ground.

    • @TrailsUnscripted

      I thought about that but than you are dragging the tote out of the car instead of the wheels doing the work. I will try it that way and see what happens. Thanks for the comment

    When I fold my bike I bungie the front brake to keep the front tire locked. Then place styrofoam to keep from scratching the bike halves. Fold the bike and bungie the wheels together. This makes it easer to handle.

  • @stanleythomas8457
    @stanleythomas8457 3 роки тому +1

    it worked !!!
    i folded the bike and the right pedal that is facing back , left pedal forward so it does not hit the fender etc , grabbed the rack and the handlebar stem and carefully lifted it into the tote . wheeled it to the full size van and with the tote wheels at the top i used both hands to lift and push firmly so the wheels don't roll at the wrong time and into the van it went...
    have not tried to take it out by myself yet ... i'll get back to you ...

    I'd be fine doing this by myself, it's just about leverage and balance. This does seem to be a perfect size tote and since I'd be loading it in a sedan, I want the least intrusive size. Thanks for this video.

      thx for watching, def make sure the measurements will fit in your sedan, this tote is pretty long. I heard some people use the 40 gallon as well although its a tight fit, I have seen several videos on you tube about it. Good luck

  • @daledollins2839

    The wheels need to be on the same side as the lug handle. You can remove the handle bars and then fold them down so that it all fits in the lug ( before putting in the lug). It’s also nice to have folding pedals. You can bungee the wheels together to make it easier to lift. Undo the seat and push it down. Hope this helps.

    There are better no-lift at all demonstration when one can use also a dog car ramp and slide the storage container with foldable 65 pounds e-bike like Aipas A2 Elite or Lectric XP3 on the ramp to enter the trunk

    This is great. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to spin the tote around once it is inside the van so that the handle faces you so you can use the handle while lowering it. The only issue is that you would have to make sure the wheels don’t roll the crate out from under you when it touches the ground. Just a thought.

    • @TrailsUnscripted
