  • You need to know how to load ebike into a small car if you are going to be able to use the vehicle to reach good riding spots. I use an affordable folding ebike, the OneBot T6F, to demonstrate. You do not need a truck bed to transport a folding electric bike! Folding e bikes are made to transport without the cost of a high capacity hitch!

    Works well, thanks. I used a belt (pants). They're adjustable and more durable. Also wider and easier on the fingers.

    It’s much better 65 lbs or heavier foldable fat tire e-bike sliding option into the vehicle trunk without lifting. Check alternative videos about this task using a 200 qt 50 gal storage containers and car foldable dog ramp. Save your back foldable e-bike riders. Good luck

      The videos I've seen with the storage container/dog ramp approach, the person had a minivan with higher clearance in the back, that allows the folded bike to be stored upright. But this person had a hatchback sedan (with less vertical clearance), which is also a problem with a sedan with a standard trunk (my situation) - then the bike needs to be stored on its side (part of his discussion about which side to store the bike on). Some variation of the dog ramp may be do-able, but probably not with the large storage container, and neither he nor I can put the bike in, upright (the folded bike must be stored, on its side). My positive is that I have a Lectric XP Lite which is a little lighter at under 50 lbs.

    For a 75 year old, I am finding these folding eBikes way too heavy to manhandle into a hatchback or minivan. Rather than fold and lift, I find the much easier way is simply to purchase an inexpensive folding dog ramp from Amazon for around $50, then instead of folding the bike in half (which makes it less manageable) just leave it in the riding position BUT fold the handlebars only. Then the bike will roll up the ramp with ease. Just lay it down on its side being careful of the derailleur.
    This is 100% easier than lifting it. Let the ramp and the rolling wheels do the work for you. No extra dollies or 50 gallon tubs needed, just the ramp, which weighs in at about 11 pounds. Piece of cake.
    Greetings from Ontario, Canada.

    Thanks! Tying the wheels together makes it so much easier to lift.

    The car dog ramp and 32”x22” (LxW) plastic bin/tote, or call it storage container works for almost all vans, SUV/Crossovers, pickup trucks without any lifting. Just roll the 65 pounds foldable step-through e-bike (like in my case) inside the container that is turned on its width vertically, then slide it by pushing on the ramp, or pull it on the ramp in normal container position parking the container in the trunk. There is a trunk place for a 2nd foldable bike as well, transported next to each other. That is it.

    Thanks... You helped me. Just got my bike and its around 75lbs. Its made to be handled about as well as you can but it's touch. I have a little Prius C (a little smaller than the regular Prius's). But it fits really well.

    Those moving blankets are good but don't let them sit in the car, the sun/ heat seems to make them come apart. A decent quilt from Goodwill or a cheap store has been about the same for padding and longer last for me. Also a little pvc on handle loop may help the cheese wire effect on the rope handle, soft tube works ok too.

    • @KayakhacksFishing
      @KayakhacksFishing  Рік тому +1

      I need to add the PVC to the handle. I did that for all my 5 gallon buckets and it does make a difference!

  • @vinceimp9581

    Second thought is you may he able yo fit the whole bike in one of those roof top bags and prevent a lot of potential damage like that. Once again goodwill is a nice place to get one on the cheap. You may find some other case or bag it fits in with a handle at thrift stores.

    • @KayakhacksFishing
      @KayakhacksFishing  Рік тому

      Good point. I would have to find one wide enough for the bike to lay on its side since it is too tall to fit.

    I recently purchased a folding e-bike. There is a fella on UA-cam who puts his e-bike into a 50 gallon tote, then slides it up on a portable pet ramp. Hope this helps.

      You can add something between the bike and the front seats. If you have tiedown points, you could use those as well

      You can pull on the blanket to get it to the edge and then grab the rope and the front

    Laying your bike on the side of the derailleur if you're not careful, it might cause issues i.e. alignment of the chain

    Place some cardboard along the sides to avoid scratching the plastic on the sides of the boot.
