Seasons 1-3 felt fairly self contained and had their own Arcs (S1 Indominus, S2 Mitch and Tiff, S3 Scorpius Rex and escape) but Season 4 feels like Season 4 Part 1. It ended on a huge cliffhanger and didn't wrap up any storylines.

This is the problem with the ridiculously short seasons of the 2010s and 2020s. You really don't have the screen time to make truly in depth story arcs like you used to when seasons were 20 to 30 episodes long. Let's face it, these short seasons don't work well with half hour episodes either. Things like Game of Thrones have hour long episodes... so for the screen time to be on par, a half hour show should have double the amount of episodes....
Some of the people working on this show are from back in those days. I wonder if they just got carried away with the writing, and forgot that they can't do real seasons anymore. As an afterthought.... why do TV shows still have mid-season breaks? (I know Camp Cretaceous isn't doing it, because it's Netflix, but regular TV still does it) Those only existed because of long seasons.

I can’t believe nobody is talking about Yaz

They didn't really do anything at all with the idea of not always putting the dinos before the group. They bring it up, then do absolutely nothing with it. Every single time. Honestly, other then Yaz having some hesitancy in one episode, and a couple of expository speeches, they didn't really do anything with the PTSD either. It was just window dressing. By the end of season 4 (which appears to be a very short period of time considering their new friend is still in bandages) she seems to be completely over it.

I agree with you on most of these things. Another thing I felt the lack of was a main non-human antagonist.
Season 1 had the Indominus rex and, most importantly, Toro as the main threats.
Season 2 had the Baryonyx trio and the T. rex causing lots of trouble.
Season 3 had the Scorpios rex(es).
Season 4 has lots and lots of dangerous animals making a few appearances, but that's just it.
    The Smilodon appeared a couple of times before being taken down; the Spinosaurus had a few scenes, but it definitely wasn't the main threat;
    the two T. rex felt more like victims than antagonists; the Velociraptors didn't do enough; the Pteranodons go away as quickly as they came;
and finally, the Dilophosaurus only showed up on the last episode for a few minutes. There are so many dangers in this season (and very few herbivores, by the way),
but eventually the main non-human antagonists were the robots. Sigh.

    • @MrKaiju-sr8wu
      @MrKaiju-sr8wu 2 роки тому +12

True. I think the yellow raptors had the most potential to be the main dinosaur antagonists, since they constantly hang around Kashs base, and they could easily chase the campers through the hallways and such. It would also be pretty easy to replace a few of the robot chase scenes with Raptor chase scenes instead.

Personally, despite the fact that this was the least "Jurassic Park" season of Camp Cretaceous, I enjoyed it quite a lot. The season dealt with some really dark and heavy themes such as the dinosaurs made to fight each other, the mind control and Jasmina's PTSD. Witch brings me to my next point, I think that every main character had significant amount of growth and development this season. In another note, the action set pieces were really well done in my opinion, plus the dinosaurs behaved like actual animals, which I really liked. They even incorporated actual science with the head-biting behavior in T. rex. The technology apart from the BRAD X, was not that far fetched either. Drones and "robot dogs" are something that exists, and is used in the real world while holograms is something that exists within the Jurassic World franchise. The only bit I felt was out of place and kind of ridiculous were the dino-bots. Also I wish the used more dinosaur chasing instead of robots but it's ok I guess. Anyway, thank you for another great video.

    • @richardduncan2954

Exactly my thoughts. The brads were awesome in my opinion. They make sense because a company in secret wouldn't want a bunch of workers risking there lives and being able to reveal there operation, plus the brads are disposable if a rex destroys one they just come back later and get its remains and build a new one. If it eats a worker they have all sorts of stuff to go through kinda like the first Jurassic park movie started with the raptor killing the worker. It just feels so in line with modern Jurassic park. But the 2 legged robots just look and feel terrible and wish they wernt in the show.

My unsubstantiated guess is that the original Camp Cretaceous seasons were far more of a success than they predicted and was renewed for longer than the original plot roadmap was written for. That's why I think season 4 fills a bit weird with all the elements you mentioned because the writers just dumped whatever they could think up in order to pad it out until Dominion was closer. Contrast to JW Evolution 2's story which took the opposite approach and ended up feeling barebones.

My take on the mother rex is that she's a new, previously unseen individual. She looked more like a kind of blue/gray than green to me, and then just the fact that she's confirmed as female on top of that, with the other being her daughter rather than her mate. It's likely that they cloned more rexes beyond the four adults seen in the first three films, and we have no way of knowing how many wild-born rexes there are in addition to the baby in The Lost World. 20 years have passed since JPIII, which is definitely enough time for a T. rex to reach adulthood.
Like you, I too wondered if perhaps they had some different ideas which were reworked. Perhaps on orders from above, because Trevorrow and his crew plan on tackling Sorna in Dominion, and they didn't want this season to spoil or contradict anything? One possible explanation could be that the idea is for Sorna to be empty by the time of Fallen Kingdom and later Dominion, so this was a way of having dinosaurs *from* Sorna without having the story take place on the island itself.

    My own review:
    The Cons:
    1. Or should I say the KONS because honestly, Kenji is my least favorite camper on this season. Compared to the last two previous seasons, his development to becoming a much more independent but caring personality is kinda thrown off. He's much more dependant on Brooklynn and I kinda hated his mood swings because it didn't really feel like Kenji. I wished that he had gotten a leader role on this season, especially when Darius is missing instead of depending on Brooklynn for everything, because that will set up his character much better for this season.
    2. And speaking of Kenji, can I just say I'm not a big fan of his rather sudden romantic relationship with Brooklynn. While I don't mind the age gap (it's honestly not that big), what I really find iffy is that they have practically NO buildup towards becoming a romantic relationship for the last three seasons. I enjoyed their relationship when they are a friend. But as a whole, Brooklynn had way more chemistry with Darius, especially in the last three seasons. Brooklynn and Kenji is basically the Gwuncan (Total Drama ship of Duncan and Gwen) of Camp Cretaceous. I don't intensely hated it per se, but it just feels off.
    3. Yet again Jurassic World series kinda falls into the "comically evil antagonist" trope with Kash introduced. Although I guess it's kinda expected, but as a villain, Kash kinda fails. Most of the time, Kash didn't really pose a lot of danger outside of controlling deadly BRADs, and is overly comical and frankly, kinda stupid. I'm not a big fan of comical new villains of Jurassic World outside of Dr. Wu, though I hope the addition of Kenji's Dad can finally put an end of overly comically evil villain trope of Jurassic World.
    4. For the most part I feel like Sammy is pretty sidelined, which is a shame, and considering now the campers have a big bad in form of Mantah Corp, Sammy SHOULD HAVE played a WAY bigger part. Considering the fact that Kash is the one who blackmails Sammy's family, I'm surprised at the fact they basically have ZERO interactions throughout the show. Sammy has expressed her rage at her blackmailer, but that rage is practically forgotten the subsequent episodes. I think she should've gotten kidnapped instead of or alongside Darius, so we can explore the Mantah Corp problems on her side because it's not even fully explained what they did to her or her family
    The Pros:
    1. One thing that Camp Cretaceous NEVER fails is the way they portray the dinosaurs. It's always perfection. You can definitely tell that the T. rexes aren't cold blooded monsters they always get portrayed on the media. I loved how Pierce the Kentrosaurus had a distressed behavior of a herbivore and is not afraid of defending itself when panic. I can't really express it in a detail, but everything about the dinosaur behavior and movements are just awesome for the most part, and they really put an emphasis on they're living and breathing creatures instead of movie monsters.
    2. I'm originally kinda iffy on the Sci-fi parts of the show, but after the watch, they honestly aren't as out of place as I thought they would. They're just as realistic as cloning dinosaurs from extinction. And honestly? I really loved the man made setting of it. Now we can have so many different kinds of locations like desert, snow, or swamp instead of fully tropical jungle area of Isla Nublar. And the BRADs, despite the stupid acronym, pose a pretty great threat for the most part.
    3. Many of the scenes are SUPER intense. I legitimately felt nervous for the campers when they are in face of a danger, like the Mosasaurus, the sandstorm, the BRAD attacks, or other dinosaur attacks, it's just as on par as the previous seasons. And not to mention, some of the scenes are just straight up a huge tearjerker, despite often involving the dinosaurs itself. You can definitely tell the baby Brachiosaurus is in so much pain when it is forced to stop, you can tell the T-rex is in so much pain after their violent battle, and the last scene with Bumpy is just heartbreaking.
    4. I loved the different take of the usual dino battles of this season. Instead of the usual "hero vs villain" battle, we have the forced to battle kind in this season. You can definitely tell neither the T. rex nor the Kentrosaurus wants to battle, but are forced into one small arena because of the drones. I loved instead of making us rooting for one of them, it makes us rooting for them to STOP. The T-rex is established as the mother of an injured daughter and the Kentrosaurus is established as the dinosaur that Dr. Mae has raised for long and has a name. This just makes seeing them hurting each other extremely painful to watch, just like real life animal battle arenas.
    5. Ben jumped from the least favorite camper to my favorite camper of this season. He's no longer being terribly obnoxiously brave like in last season or obnoxiously paranoid like in first season. He had a great balance of bravery from the development he gets from the last two seasons and the much more toned down fear he had in the first season. And the way he interacts with the baby Brachiosaurus is just adorable, and i loved how he finally didn't have the overattachment towards the dinosaur he cares like in previous season.
    6. I loved how they portray Yaz's trauma here. It just shows how desperate she is to return home and is just enough of all dinosaur encounters. Her breakdown when she heard intense roar of the dinosaurs and her desperation when they got left out once again is really emotional. And of course, her relationship with Sammy is always a great treat and I lowkey wished we got more of them instead of Brooklyn and Kenji
    7. The Dilophosaurus and Spinosaurus finally makes their grand return after a VERY long time of absence in big screens, and I couldn't be happier. While I feel like it's a shame that the Spinosaurus isn't the main dino antagonist like i hoped for, it's still great to see them return. I also loved the Smilodon and the Spinosaurus and Sinoceratops hybrids as well, despite my sceptism.

Nice. I feel like people tend to forget that they're no longer on Nublar and things are no longer overseen by InGen ot Masrani, which are the main companies in the films and treat the dinosaurs differently. But the films start to address the idea of weaponizing dinosaurs and Mantah Corp just has different means to do so. I think, the robots are used to assist them in monitoring and handling them first
You know, I've said it before, but I think Mantah Corp kinda reminds me to some fans with their dino vs dino shindig

I definitely have mixed feelings towards this season. I guess I'll list the things I liked and didn't like.
    *Positives*
    • The dinosaur action throughout the season was super fun!
    • I enjoyed the character development between the characters (especially Yaz). As a side note, the romance stuff didn't bug me like it did for other fans.
    • It was great seeing the Spinosaurus and Dilophosaurus make their long awaited comeback! Really brought out a lot of Nostalgia!
    • Finally the Ceratosaurus gets an intense and exciting scene to itself! We're long past the sniffing poop days thankfully!
    • It was cool seeing the Smilodon be introduced into the film canon! This opens up a lot more possibilities for the franchise.
    • THE CLIFFHANGER!!
    *Negatives*
    • I really wasn't big on the robots. I feel like they took up way too much screentime that should have gone to the dinos. At first I was okay with the normal Brad's, but the Brad X's were a bit too much for me.
    • Kash was kind of a one note villain. To be fair, I don't normally watch the Jurassic franchise specifically for the human villains (unless we're talking about Henry Wu or Dodgson). It was cool they got Haley Joel Osment to voice him though!
    • I wish the Spinosaurus, Dilophosaurus, Smilodon, and Ceratosaurus had more screen time. This ties into the robot thing. This is more of a nitpick though.
    • The cliffhanger from Season three ended up being kinda pointless. There wasn't really any sort of payoff.
Overall even though I have more positive things to say over the negatives, I still think this season was a bit more of a mixed bag for me. It was fun and enjoyable, but I think it could have been better. But it also could have been worse. I'm still excited for season 5, and I'm curious as to how this is all gonna play out! I just hope the robots don't overshadow the dinos next time. I'll give it a 6/10! Anyway sorry for the long comment, but I wanted to be as detailed as possible!!

There was good and bad in Season 4.
    Good:
    1) Daniel Kon, Kenji's Dad being the leader of Manta Corp. It gives us an antagonist to be connected to and a way for the children to get off this new island. It also potentially gives them the means to go back to Nublar to get Bumpy. Perhaps changes how things go.
    2) Darius' brother coming to the rescue potentially as an avenue to get Roxie and Dave back in the story. I understand why they were written off the show for the story they want to tell, but I am hopeful for their return. Hopefully, using Darius' brother the families of other characters may be seen. Like Sammy's family.
    3) The various biomes to see dinosaurs in other elements. It was done a little too sci fi but the idea was good.
    4) More dinosaurs being shown and returned. Always a good thing, never will be a bad thing.
    Bad:
    1) Kenji x Brooklyn. Outside of flirting in the first episode which was clearly not meant as interest, it feels like this was completely forced in order to be a point of conflict in the next season. I also feels this lessens the anger that Kenji had with Darius at the end of Season 3. The "I was mad because I love her." is not compelling to me, and is to me a bad lesson to have in a children's show. Kenji being mad because he felt Darius didn't value the friends enough would have been more compelling.
    2) BRADs and BRADXs, I can get behind a robot dog patrolling areas. I can get behind it having a robot voice. What I can't get behind it is somehow being able to think or at least appearing to think. Especially the BRADXs. And I don't like the BRADX design. The show would have been better if the BRAD upgrade made some sense. The BRADX upgrade feels like a way to sell more toys rather than meaningful to the story. So, BRADs are not a bad concept, but was implemented poorly.
    3) That they somehow introduce multiple ways to control Dinosaurs to make them fight or do what you want. It is just confusing to me. You have Mae's research, the control chip, the drones, and the food material. Too many things to do the same thing all introduced close to one another. Pick something and go with it.
    4) Minor, but pissed me off. Don't make me sad for Bumpy! I wanted to believe Bumpy was living a happy life on Nublar with the other dinos. I don't need to know that Bumpy is calling out for Ben before going to sleep alone at the abandoned camp. I swear if Season 5 doesn't have Bumpy taken off Nublar to live with Ben, I am going to scream.
Overall, it isn't bad. It is average and the weakest season imo. It sets up a lot with little payoff to reward watching it.

About the first two points: I completely agree with you (especially with the design of the BRADXs.... they looked so out of place)
I have something to say about your third point: The control chip was based on and used Mea's research and the food was just to test what happens if the dinosaurs reach certain anger levels. Oh and the drones were used before Kash knew about the research and they were mostly used to move the dinosaurs or contain them in one place.
And to your fourth point: Yeah I hate them for doing that :(

    Pros:
    - The Spinosaurus is back

    - The PTSD subplot
    - Kash as a villain
    - Main characters were all great, as usual
    - Dr May is great
    - The new hybrids are cute and awesome to see
    - Nice to see Brooklyn take up the leadership role
    - Cliffhanger at the end was cool
    Cons:
    - Romantic relationship came out of nowhere
    - The inclusion of the bipedal dark trooper robot dogs (why do they even exist?).
    - Flash drive with Dr Wu’s research is completely forgotten
    - So many missed opportunities (T-Rex/Spinosaurus rematch, more hybrids, lore connections to JW:E2 Chaos Theory mode for JP3, dinosaur on the boat not being a Compy, diversity in animals species, etc.)
    - Kenji/Darius conflict dies in the first episode
    - Have yet to see any connection to Dominion
Overall grade for Season 4: C+
My grades for the other seasons are as follows:
    Season 1 - B+
    Season 2 - B-

I’ve been waiting for Klayton’s review. I think he was far more generous than I am.
It sucked. They took the momentum gained through the first three seasons and drove it into a brick wall. 4/10
Brooklyn’s sudden tech prowess was a lazy way to solve some glaring issues the group faced.
The biomes were ridiculously convoluted and technologically over-advanced. Forgiving those grievances, they weren’t even utilized to introduce new, climate specific dinosaurs. Yutyrannus, Edmontosaurus, or even a wooly mammoth would have been amazing to see in the Arctic biome. Also, the way they determine that the hybrids aren’t compatible with a given biome is because the Dino’s are sleeping? Really?
The plot armor seemed to be at an all time high with this season. If the only way to get these kids out of a situation is to write in a highly implausible work around, maybe don’t put them in said situation. I understand it’s a show, but the fact that these apex predators become slow, bumbling lummoxes when pursuing the children is too much.
The robots were just stupid. I don’t even feel the need to elaborate. Just stupid.
The relationship (you know which one) ruined the friendship dynamic of the group. Should have left it out. Especially Darius’ reaction. The fuck was that? Edit: Holy shit… after rewatching the first few episodes of Season 1, the progress in dynamic between Darius and Brooklyn was pretty significant. They really messed up with the Kenji & Brooklyn thing.
I don’t know how they’ll move forward from this, but it took the wind out of the shows sails.

THANK YOU! My thoughts exactly about Kenji's dad being the owner of Mantah Corp. With full access to the park, contacts, being close with Masrani and having his own condo on the island, why would he need to blackmail a random farming family to send their teenage daughter to collect something as simple as saliva samples? Even if Daniel Kon doesn't want to do it himself, he has employees, people in JW who trust him and his own son was ALREADY going to CC! It's just not been thought out in the slightest.
Mantah Corp's plan to just make dinos fight is also poorly thought out. How is that going to be profitable? Kenji's dad is apparently a rich business tycoon but he has no idea that killing half of their incredibly pricy assets isn't going to make bank on pay per view or something? Even their experiments were so poorly thought out or controlled; "we want to know if this dino can withstand low temperatures so let's just throw it in the polar bio dome, leave it unattended and see if it dies". Seriously?? Some of that can be down to Kash being terrible and impulsive but Kenji's dad is the one who put him in charge. May's dino communication tech wasn't even Mantah Corp's plan, it was JUST dino fights. I can't get over how little effort was put into the writing of this season.
Kenji's dad is going to go bankrupt at this rate and becomes a less interesting "villain" because he is clearly just an overgrown man child who wanted to live out his childhood dream of watching dino fights each other at any cost. Such wasted potential for a company like Mantah Corp!

First Brooklyn finds out kenji likes her so she likes him, then on her time simping for the dude, she's talking about how great of a father he is! And this is coming from a 13/14 year old! Like if she was older then the audience who didn't like their relationship would've let it slide. But shes young, and has the thoughts of starting a f@#&$&$* family with a 17 year old! And then there is the reveal at the end which I'm looking forward to.

I also want to point out again that the dinos are different colors in pretty much each movie, so the Rexes not following the schemes of the doe and buck from JP2 really shouldn't be an issue, but we all have our own little pet-peeves so if it bothers you, who am I to judge? Really glad they finally have a Cenozoic clone on screen. The new hybrids were cute, but then so are almost all babies. Finally, the spitters being on screen for not even five minutes at the end was a real cock-tease.

Man, I've been waiting for this video! really was curious on your take, especially the Boston dynamic themed robots.
I over all enjoyed it. I think what I really liked the most is the characters are shifting dramatically with this one, addressing the state of the groups mental health. Yasmina has major PTSD or C-PTSD with the attacks and it seems like she's not the only one. Kenji commenting on how he feels like he's ignored/unloved in his family finding comfort and a connection with Brooklyn, Brooklyn not even caring about social media anymore, Ben is really trying to find who he is now life with out bumpy, Sammy just doubling down on how much she hates Manta Corp Darius being the one that hasn't changed much which I found really odd. Almost like this is his element with the dinosaurs, he's more interested in learning the behavior above anything else. So I do think the writing for the characters and their arch is on point. The dinosaur threat was much less this time around which I can see not sitting well with the audience. Shifting to the bigger threat really comes from people and companies over the Dinosurs themselves. There was a part where they were more afraid of Kash then the dinosaurs.
And that's where I'm at the end of the day okay with this season, the real enemy has always gone back to control, who is controlling what and why. Going back to the core of JP is Dr. Malcom's chaos theory. Can they make these robots really control the Dinosaurs? What was in that thing Manta Corp is developing that Darius almost tagged the Spinosaurus? This season really opened up more of those themes. Including Kash's major anger issues he can't control himself and the power he very much desires. Even going as murdering anyone in his way when he feels like it. Like, that's huge! These themes rarely get explored, especially in a kids show. Tho the only thing I wanted... was the kids to take a shower when they had the chance in Dr. Turner living space. Maybe eat more? I think getting food, sleep shower would be at the top of the list of things to do when they got to her place. again overall liked it, looking forward to season 5!

I agree with you about the robots...somehow I feel like they robbed us of more dino time. I get that they're trying to do something different, and I guess it would be a stark contrast to InGen with their human dinosaur handlers, but...yeah it felt distracting at times.
I don't call myself a Spino fanboy, but they should have made the Spino do more than basically be a cameo...
Other than that, this season was fine. Not bad, not blowing my mind, but fine.

  • @aryshandono3249

I kinda like the season, honestly. It offers an interesting reveal about Mantah Corp, and I was a bit iffy about the robots at first. But then again, I remember they're not InGen or Masrani Global, so I can get behind that. They make the robots to assist them in monitoring and handling the dinosaurs, a foil to InGen and Masrani who prefer to treat dinosaurs much more respectfully
I enjoy how the dinosaurs are more portrayed in a rather sympathetic light here. It's a breath of fresh air seeing them not menacing the kids all the time. If anything I feel like they are more animals because they're not entirely invulnerable. It's especially rare to see T-Rex being nurturing and calm
Considering how JW films begin to explore the idea of weaponizing dinosaurs, I think Mantah Corp's agenda is still aligned with the film. Only they choose different method to control them, namely not using laser gun with acoustic signal. I notice they also seem to be still limited when it comes to creating their own dinos though, since all of their dinos were robbed from Sorna and their hybrids were only made via Sammy's contribution
I've been against romance since the beginning, but at least it doesn't take too much away from the story
That being said, seems like season 5 will probably be much bigger than this

  • @dudotolivier6363

I very enjoyed the season 4, for all the assumed choice they made, it's was interesting, alway fun and cool, and even if certain kind of element can be questionable, for me, they use and put in place the things at least correctly. Like the beginning love story between Kenji and Brooklyn, completely assumed and put and developped all along the season, and even reveal why Kenji was cold to Darius at the end of season 3. The others characters are also good developpement too, like Ben with the baby brachiosaurus, Sammy who wish revenge again Kash, this later who is a very good and terrific vilain under his appearances, or Yasmina, who is reveal to have PDST trauma. So yes, there are elements who make things goofy like or out of the place but after and intense season 3, it's a little welcome to have some volontary looseness to better apprehension to this season. Plus, now the show is no more under the pression of the movie chronologie because they are not more on Nublar, si because he is now in a way separated from the main places and by the way story of the movies, the producers freedom are very more high. Finally, it's was reveal by recent articles some days before the release that all we see was approved by Trevorrow himself, who was alway in contact with the producers team during the production of JW Domion. And it's very important to be considered.
But all is not complete stupid relaxation and thete are all along many dark and mature elements, mainly all thé subject of the experimentations on the animals, and the stress, terrible physical and mental pain they receive, all the animal cruelty right who are flout, and the theme animal fight and brain controle like they was simply machines and not life organism and only for the pleasiure of rich personnalities are very difficult to see it's so dark!
Otherwise, we have in this Season 4 the ultimate confirmation that there were never extinction of any kind on Sorna since it's show that the Spinosaurus from the third movie and a mom and daughter T-Rex was taken from this island. And very recently because it's also explicitly show that all the Mantah Corps island complex is young, only some years it's seem, and we can assume that theses specimens was taken in the 2010's years, and that the two apex species has cohabitated the island from at least 10 years without more problems.
But it's important to mention that only some dinosaurs was taken from Sorna, the most majority of the animal was cloned on place directly, like the Smilodon or Firecraker the baby brachiosaurus for exemple.
I also like the inclusion of the cute babies Spinoceratops hybrids, who give to us a complete different hybrid from the three first ones, and for the first time we hope that they will not going to die because they are hybrids. For once, they are gentle hybrids and broke the general concept that all hybrids are aggressive and bloodfirsty creatures, like the carnivorous dinosaurs was Always depicted some decennies ago.
Otherwise, the Mantah Corps island is not presented like to be close at Nublar and the episode 1 seem to show the group on the boat inconciouness lost in the sea cause by the compass who in final seem to be broken and useless.
And, for you Klayton, for the T-Rexes, i remind you that in all along the franchise we see variants in colors of the creatures, like the Pteranodons who are differents.in the second and third film, the Velociraptors in all the movies and even in the two first seasons of Camp Cretaceous. So the mom and her daughter are simply females since birth rexes who are in a grey variants of the main base form we see in the second film. It's all ! It's not a reason to make a polemic! Oh, and they are all the two grey and not green, it is especially misleading from afar for Fat Eater because it has stripes.
Finally, there maybe many elements who are not use at their complete potential and some seem to be abbandonned in the way but this Season 4 with his twist ending are more like a more bigger season who was divised into two parts, the first is season 4 and the second are the season 5 who begin directly after the last second of the last season 4 episode, so there alway time and place for the show to use the things introduce in this Season in the future.

I loved season 4 especially with Yasmina and her PTSD. It really dove into the character development of the kids and I felt the main goal was more about surviving the new technological environment. It was only towards the end of the season that they recognize as Kash and Mantah Corps as the villain now in their radar. I’d love to see more if Kenji and his relationship with his dad improving. Even if they managed to get off the island and move on in their lives, I would also love to see how these experiences changed who they are psychologically and how they’d react if they find themselves on the islands again.

Yeah, this season was just odd. I mean, the robot dogs could have worked healing the bigger and deadly dinos, but that's it; just add that a tone of money was put into them, and the public has no idea about the B.R.A.D robots.
They also should never have added the 2nd robots because they are just too odd, have humans with guns that can get killed off by the many dinosaurs on the island. It's the same with the two T- Rex; they could have said this is just another pair they found on Sorna, making it not the family we saw in the Lost World.
The relationship between two of the characters, yeah, that made no sense, and I felt it was very forced, making no sense why they were chosen either. It feels like they just picked out the names from a hat on who would become a couple.

Season 4 seems to be very much focusing on keeping the kids entertained with more hybrid monsters and now killer robots. I just want to see Dinosaurs! I-Rex was fine as a one off gimmick in JW and was fine satire of our culture always getting bored and needing bigger and ''better''. But to repeat it over and over cheapens the franchise.

The fact that the Spinosaurus doesn't fight or kill anything and is even unable to catch six teenagers also robs the super predator of some of its menace."*

I found Season 4 a mixed bag of good & bad (it definitely made me appreciate Season 2 a lot more). It's always nice when the Jurassic Franchise brings back old creatures & introduces new ones. I'm hoping that many of the questions & plot-holes raised in this season get answered in Season 5. While I didn't really like the implementation of the robots (& I also thought Kash's whining attitude was immature and kind of annoying), I did like the subtle reference to Michael Crichton's Westworld. I also liked that this season was essentially an adaptation of Jurassic Park: Scan Command/Dinosaur Battles. I will also admit, from the start of the season, I did not expect that plot twist with Kenji's Dad & Mantah Corp. However, I felt like the romance between Kenji & Brooklyn came right out of nowhere (If anything, I think Brooklyn & Darius would've made a better couple).
I also recall one of the show creators mentioning that an element from this season would be implemented into Jurassic World: Dominion? If I had to take a guess (this was also my favorite element from Season 4), I think Dr. Turner's research on dinosaur language and communication might play an integral part in Dominion?

This season is a _mixed bag_ for me; yeah, my initial personal thoughts on it more or less align with yours, Klayton. I LOVE the character development and dynamics among the Campers, they're definitely the strongest point of this season such as Kenji and Brooklynn's romance and Yaz's PTSD. Dr, Mae Turner I do like (I like that she does genuinely care for the island's animals and comes to care for the Campers), and while I'm TRYING to get into Kash as like the 'new Dennis Nedry' so to speak, his constant temper tantrums and whole personality ARE a turn-off for me. I at least *tolerate* him, though.
It's just REALLY *STRANGE* to me as well that there's this whole new island located within the same radius as Isla Nublar, that's completely off the grid. It just leaves more questions than answers about it. The *technology* in this season DOES feel a _little_ TOO 'Sci Fi.' Yes, the "Jurassic Park/World" franchise is known for introducing high technology concepts, but up until this point, the technology concepts seen in the films and the first three seasons of this series have _something_ of a basis/grounding in _real life._ OK, the first generation B.R.A.D.s I'm willing to accept, given what I know about the real-life Boston Dynamics robots, but the second generation B.R.A.D-Xs? To quote _Angry Video Game Nerd,_ *"WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?! I know, I know...they WEREN'T thinking!"* And I'd REALLY like some kind of explanation as to the technology behind the artificial biomes themselves (as long as it's believable).
Personally, the dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures in this season didn't come across to me as mere prop pieces, and most were indeed another strong point of this season. WELCOME BACK, SPINOSAURUS and ESPECIALLY *DILOPHOSAURUS* for me (we haven't seen that species since *1993* )! The _saber-toothed Smilodon_ I feel is a VERY welcome addition that SHOULD be talked about more; I've been wanting _prehistoric mammals_ to be featured in the franchise at some point, and in some way, shape, or form. And this Smilodon was utilized in a, dare I say it, BETTER way than its counterparts were in that HORRENDOUS Sy Fy B-flick, "Attack of the Sabretooth (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attack_of_the_Sabretooth)." I wasn't sure at first about the two new 'Spinoceratops' hybrids Angel ad Rebel, but they actually did manage to win me over. :) Same for Firecracker the baby Brachiosaurus. A Kentrosaurus named 'Pierce?' Yeah, I can dig that (no pun intended). For dinosaur characters like him, Angel, and Rebel, the writers did good in getting you (the audience) to sympathize with them. The method that Dr. Turner uses to communicate with them, to me, doesn't seem THAT far-fetched. And since that IS something of a nod to "Scan Command," it's interesting that the team behind the show would go to _that_ piece of wider franchise material for inspiration.
    Overall, I give "Camp Cretaceous” Season 4 a 6.5/10.

Robots were trash, underused of the Spinosaurus, barely Raptors, forced romance between the 2 kids, but the biggest wtf was the Spinosaurus sound change. What were they thinking? His Jp3 roar was incredible! If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

Season 05 going to be an interesting one, now that Kenji's father has been revealed to be the head of Mantah Core, I have a feeling Kenji's loyalties will be tested in the upcoming season, a rift might form between him and the gang including Sammy, given the fact that Kash, a Mantah Core employee, blackmailed her family, and Brooklyn, considering that she is Kenji's girlfriend...things really don't look good for Kenji it seems and all of this will surely take a toll on his mental health....🤔

Thanks for your review, Klayton! Your review of this show did give me some points to consider. I do have some of my own theories and explanations on the logic behind the decisions made in Season 4.
1 As to why did Mantah Corp. use Sammy, a child mind you, to get dinosaur DNA, and not some other way, it's likely due to Dennis Nedry's actions in the first movie. An investigation likely concluded that he played a big part in the problems with Jurassic Park. Corporate sabotage is going to be a lot harder to pull off. This could be why Mantah Corp. tried to use Sammy's family in the first place. Better to use someone else who isn't officially associated with you to create plausible deniability. Also, Mantah Corp. wanted to use Sammy's family in general to collect dinosaur DNA however they refused, but Sammy didn't want her family to lose the ranch they had so she agreed to become a spy without her family's knowledge. Kash didn't want the opportunity to go to waste so I'm not surprised he okayed it since there was little to no perceived risk for him. After all, this is the same person who sent Darius on a suicide mission to chip the Spinosaurus.
2 As to why Kash didn't use Mae Turner's dinosaur communication device to get the dinosaurs to fight, he only just discovered Mae's research. He would need some time to examine it and come up with his own device. Also, Kash enjoys exercising power over others so he probably finds his painful methods with the drones more enjoyable.
3 As to why this season was mostly set on a completely different island that is not at all part of The Five Deaths, I think it's due to the scale of what Mantah Corp. wants to do. Trying to create all these different biomes and everything else they want to do is way too big to keep under wraps so closely under the eyes of Masrani and InGen. Having your own island that is not part of The Five Deaths, but close enough to them to acquire dinosaurs and dinosaur DNA for your own purposes is much easier to hide when it's your own island and you don't have to worry about anyone else. Also, the island the Campers land on is said to be off the maps so even better.
4 I know some fans would have preferred the Campers landing on Site B, but I'm going to ask you something. What would have made that island different enough from a story standpoint to justify going there? I know you would say something like, "Well, the Spinosaurus is (or rather was) there and there are some different breeds of Velociraptor there."
My response to that just a couple of different dinosaur species or breeds isn't enough of a reason to justify going there. The island the Campers landed on in Season 4 was something substantially different and brought Mantah Corp. to the forefront. Sorna, at least at the point in time in which Camp Cretaceous is set in the Jurassic Park timeline, isn't as interesting as one would potentially think. It seems most of the dinosaurs on that island were moved to Nublar when Jurassic World was first established since why would you waste all those assets? You need a lot of dinosaurs for your dinosaur theme park, and it probably took a while for the cloning facilities to get run back since the cloned dinosaurs' image would need to be rehabilitated for the general public due to all the deaths from the first movie as well as the events of the T-rex San Diego rampage and those escaped Pteranodons from JPIII.
Also, I highly doubt the Spinosaurus would have been let to run amok on Site B when Jurassic World was being established in the early to mid 2000s since considering how aggressive it is. It would have been killing off a good amount of dinosaurs and almost single handedly destroying the ecosystem. Dinosaurs aren't cheap to make so the Spinosaurus' reign of terror couldn't have lasted that long from an in-universe standpoint without the higher-ups stepping in and insuring that their assets would be protected meaning that the Spinosaurus likely would have been disposed of or contained and relocated. Thankfully, for us Spinosaurus fans, the creature still lives. If Camp Cretaceous was set in a much earlier point in the timeline, it would make more sense to go Site B, but Camp Cretaceous is set around the events of Jurassic World and not JPIII.
Now that I brought up these factors about Site B to consider, imagine for a moment that Campers got stranded there instead of wherever they landed in Season 4. They would be on another island without any way off of it, no way to contact anyone or at least not have service available from where there at, and be back to dealing with being on an island with dinosaurs without any other humans on it, and probably sink further into despair since if someone else did ever come to get them, they would be looking on Site A rather than Site B and have no idea that their latest escape attempt resulted in them being trapped on a different island entirely. If they ever did find wreckage from the ship they would examine it and realize that the Mosasaur got to it and assume the worst. It feels too much like a repeat of aspects from the previous seasons. I think the writers on some level at least realized some of these points and went with the decisions they made in Season 4. Heck, Darius, for a very brief moment, is able to make contact with his brother showing that he's still alive. Had the Campers landed on Site B instead, it's highly likely that moment wouldn't have been possible.
5 On the subject of the robots, I know people were caught surprised by the robots, primarily the BRAD X's, but this isn't the first time that this franchise showed off technology more advanced than one would think. Jurassic World showed off hologram technology and futuristic computers which caught me off guard the first time I saw the movie. It seemed a bit much.

However, Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom was a big game changer and revealed that Maisie Lockwood is a fully fledged human clone. Cloning and recreating extinct animals are one thing, but a human being is something else entirely. Do you really think the biological side of science in the Jurassic Park Universe is the only side that would be more advanced than our own especially since cloning has been around for decades in-universe? I don't think progress like that would be so limited to one area.
Furthermore, there are other reasons why such advanced drones and robots would be needed. Even with trained soldiers and superior firepower, Dinosaurs are still incredibly fast and/or powerful as well as crafty. Look at Jurassic World and the rampage that the Indominus Rex did and when it managed to get the raptor squad on its side temporarily. They slaughtered the soldiers with ease. The only dinosaur who the soldiers managed to kill was Charlie, and that was really only due to her going through something of an internal conflict due to her previous relationship with Owen meaning she only died due to a vulnerability that wouldn't exist with other dinosaurs. If you're going to attempt to control dinosaurs why would you go with such an inefficient method?
The drones and robots solve this problem. With proper direction and equipment, they can coerce the dinosaurs into doing what Mantah Corp. wants through electricity and tranquilizing gas without throwing human body after body at it. The only thing they really lacked was durability which the BRAD X's cover. One of the BRAD X's managed to endure some damage from the Spinosaurus which is pretty impressive. They help avoid making other humans just be a waste of lives and resources and payment.
Thanks again for your work, Klayton.

Two things. One: did nobody listen to the camp councilors that were trying to say there were kids left behind or did they just not say anything when they got back to the mainland? Two: These kids are still dealing with being chased by dinosaurs, stranded on an island, and now have an evil villain ready to kill the only other person he knows (at the time) is on the island, and have killer robots now chasing them too, do they really have time for crushes? Just doesn't seem like the thing they'd be thinking about. But I'm sure the relationship between Kenji and Brooklyn will be used when it comes to the Kenji's dad situation

They made such a big deal about the dinos living in the right biome, with the Kentrosaurus not being able to stand the cold while Rebel and Angel were engineered for it. But then they put the Spinosaurus, an animal that lived in a jungle/swamp-like biome and probably had a semiacuatic life style, in the desert and it doesn't seem to affect it at all! That really bothered me.

Season 4 was just plain awful. The teens choices throughout were so mind-bogglingly insane that the show writers clearly must’ve run out of ideas. You mean to tell me these kids grew so suspicious of Dr. Turner that they immediately turned around and snuck back into the Tyrannosaur forest to explore the one place she told them not to go? Insane writing. Also the saber tooth & spinoceratops were random AF, and the killer robots all but ruined the season. I dread thinking about what the writers will come up with next. Human/dino hybrids are 1-2 seasons away, just wait.

That whole season felt to me like it was done by completely new writer staff, who have no prior knowledge of the franchise at all.
Main issues for me were the sudden romance plot (I loved the fact, that it was all about friendships in Season 1-3), dinosaurs becoming side characters, robots and technology far too extreme. Also the show felt much dumber and the „feeling“ talks were unrewarded by the plot. How can a facility like that be run by just one guy?
I am not looking forward to the future of the franchise.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this season was weak. I was really disappointed that it was more focused on the BRADs then dinosaurs. Like none of the dinosaurs were treated like an actual threat and more as an inconvenience. I think everyone was really let down in the Spinosaurous, it was very cool but it's scenes felt really brief and almost pointless. As for the kids I did like that they showed Yaz was experiencing PTSD. The whole thing with Brooklyn and Kenji however was just flat out weird in my opinion considering neither of them had much chemistry previously.

This sure was a weak season. The whole season could have been told in just about 3 episodes. There wasn't a whole lot going on other than generic dinosaur vs. human chases. The robots and drones were utterly stupid. For me, this season took the story completely in the wrong direction. The biodomes made no sense. The kids could just walk into the desert biodome after being shipwrecked? Apparently there is no roof to them either, but still they are able to control the weather in each biodome separately. Weird... Nope, this was not what I expected at all from season 4.

The season started off interesting, but quickly spiraled into ridiculousness and repetetiveness.. the whole robot antagonist thing was tiresome, especially when suddenly there were these invulnerable mecha godzilla knockoffs all over..
Most of the dinosaurs present felt like they were just there to be eye candy to keep the audience somewhat interested. The plot itself was just bad.. the previous seasons all had pretty weak writing overall, but this one had the weakest by far. I dare say I'd call it an insult to the intelligence of the viewer, with just how silly it is.
I mean, seriously, a researcher alone on an island with dinosaurs.. and she has NO way of contacting anyone or anything in case of an emergency? Come the fuck on..
And the main antagonist being some out of shape white dude with a zoomer haircut and serious anger issues got boring very quickly. Just a super shallow character overall.

Unfortunately, Season 4 did not deliver what it could or should have. While it had its moments, the bad definitely outweighed the good. I feel the plot deviated way too far from the lore of the JP franchise. The robots were absolutely pointless, and a bit ridiculous. Kenji's redemption arc was completely lost to the Kenji/Brooklyn relationship storyline (which I think lessened the dynamic of Camp-Fam and made absolutely no sense), and MantaCorp's formal introduction into the story was unstructured, inconsistent, and very disappointing. A lot was sacrificed for the sake of being "cool", in my opinion. But it failed miserably. Of course, JP has exaggerated scientific accuracies in the past, but to an extent, the franchise has still been somewhat believable... until now. Especially the idea of using neurotechnology to control the mind and temperament of a dinosaur... immediately no. Past seasons left the writers with so much to work with, and I feel Season 4 was a wasted opportunity. My rating is a hard 3.5/10. I'm going to give the season credit for the re-introduction of fan-favorite dinosaurs like Diloposaurus and Spinosaurus. Kenji's dad being the president of MantaCorp was a great cliff-hanger. And of course, Darius made contact with his brother who commits to finding him.
