This car is truly the most luxurious EV! While I am not a fan of the exterior styling, the interior is beautiful, comfortable, and relaxing. The biggest takeaway for me was how relaxed I was driving this no matter where I went! What would you guys buy in this category: Model S / EQS / Taycan / e-tron GT / Air?
@@humushumus2219 Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I think it's fair to say many if not most people (would) find the EQS ugly. I did a test drive in same car with standard screen …. I bought it and drove over 300 miles when I picked it up I love this car it like driving the future now .
I'm sorry, but I don't think you should have to give up looks on a car this expensive. I've never seen a car that costs this much look like a Hyundai Sonata. They need to rework this car because I can't see many people who can afford one driving around in this thing.
It's not only nice to watch your nicely detailed and eloquent reviews of these EVs, but it's also nice to see you driving around the Millbrae area. I sure do miss the SF Bay Area
All is good if you like to sit low but my experience was the seat would not go high enough and the view forward out of the windscreen was like looking through mail slot. Way too limited a view.
This video cost me $100k when I bought the EQS 450+ based on this review in June. I am in love with the car, especially features that are not available with Tesla, like a sunroof that opens and has a motorized screen plus Apple CarPlay and SiriusXM radio. The adaptive cruise control works great and you can change lanes with a simple flick of the turn signal. The 4 wheel steering is insane and makes the car feel like a compact when making tight turns. My only regret is the poor quality of the free Electrify America chargers that are frequently out of service and make me cautious about taking a road trip. Thanks for the tip, Kyle!
I think the charge speed is very good and it might be one of the fastest changing EVs when instead of looking at kWh charged per minute or hour you look at kWh per mile.
As a frequent used car buyer, the future cars are starting to scare me. Full screen dash, full roof glass, etc. Seems like very high repair costs. Will need a lot of research before purchasing anything.
Ya know Kyle, I like the way Mercedes-Benz thinks. If you want a car that looks good, they gotcha covered. If you want a car that drives good, same deal. All you really have to admit is how much money do you want to spend. Performance by the dollar - the EQS made you smile! Thank you Kyle for your excellent analysis. 👍
There’s also other ways to make it look nicer anyway. I have seen variants that look very boring and some variants that looked really awesome. Like last week I saw one drive next to me that looked really beautiful with great road presents. So you can have both.
Great looking car... Good presentation! The driver lane assist distronic extended restart in stop and go traffic (auto pilot) is better than Tesla in some ways... Very impressed so far. Yes, I own one of these.... and traded my Model 3 performance FSD for it... And it even came with a steering wheel!
Used, low miles 450 4matics are in the 55k range and 580s in the 77k range and so very tempting. I did a brief test drive of a 450 4matic in Seattle couple days back, the adaptive cruise and lane keeping were magical. I felt something weird with the brakes, too, coming to my first stop but didn't have enough time with the car to figure out exactly what was up. Come to think about it, I had a similar experience in a Taycan I test drove. Not 100% sold on the lines of the EQS, I guess I'm torn with so many good options, e.g. BMW i4 M50s are sweet, too for sedans! I'm also looking at Audi GT and Taycan Cross (with rails).
Starting at 54%+ is far from ideal. I've seen tests where they started at 10-12% and it stayed near 200kW almost until 80% and was above 150kW _over_ 80%!
I even can confirm: The 450+ (Jan 2022) can do 207kW with SOC 10% and holds it near 200kW almost until 80%. So you have 29min to charge from 10% to 80% = 500km back in or 15min for 300km back in!
An area of technology that still has a **huge** room for improvement: handling light reflections from screens, especially in bright sunlight. It's a real problem on things like EV chargers and gas pumps.
I love the all electric Mercedes eqs, it’s amazing!! I love all of the Technology! Can y’all review the all electric Chevy Silverado when it comes out?
Of course I’m no expert and could be wrong but I feel the brake pulls away so the brake lights can actually engage. When I’m driving behind a tesla and it regin (or however you spell it lol) brakes lights don’t come on, until they actually hit the brake, which could be dangerous for cars driving behind it
Just maybe the "Charging Station" is not allowing 200 kw at this specific time??? Just a thought... Mercedes charging station may allow the 200+ kw charging.
I have Mercedes GLE 350de (not sure if you get it in the US). After 8200km rotors don't show any signs of wear at all. Even the groove which pads usually grind in rotors is not there. This means that regen braking is enough and almost never blended with hydro.
"I've never driven a car that drives like this. Floor it!" Awesome dude. If I could pick a person to explain cars to time travelers from horse days, I'd pick him.
Can you talk about what reliability means? I'm coming from a family that loves Camrys. I've always heard that my options for a car that's not breaking down constantly are Toyota and Honda. Is that true?
Great video .. but at 11:15 I'm just curious... How would one ride around with their knee in the center console leather? 😂 Just curious? I'm trying to picture that, but I can't imagine how that's possible. However, I do agree with you, I suspect the leather on the center console is a different texture because of durability reasons. Good video and no need to pander to Lucid because they invited you to see their car. The top of the line spec models for the electric sedans with 100kwh to 140kwh battery packs and 230 to 520 mile range: - Porche Taycan is $185K - Lucid is $170K - Audi E Tron is $140K - Tesla Model S is $130K - Mercedes EQS is $126K 🤔 just not sure if the range of the Lucid with the large 140 kwh battery will push the Lucid over the other sedans as the interior/tech imo was not impressive not to mention with no air suspension as its standard when compared to others for the price and Rawlinson did say it's just not about adding more batteries I guess that changed!
why is the tech not good on the lucid? seems to have everything all the other high tech car has. it's just a more understated luxury design. some prefer that and some don't. I think new money will want to floss with lucid and older money will go for the benz and then some mix in between.
He briefly said in the video compared to the lucid he drove last week the EQS is on another level of luxury. So kinda what I expected from Mercedes. Nothing will come close to this luxury in quite some time.
I just got this same car and the same specs. I did not go for the faster one. After all, what you look for in an EV is the most extended range. Even though it is not the quickest, it has lots of power and speed. I am happy with this car, which is all this guy is saying. I was considering Model S, but Mercedes is giving crazy deals for this car, plus it is nicer than Model S in many ways, except speed.
Question are the lights on the dashboard blinking constantly. As that would drive me mental. I do like the look of the car And the style of the interior. I was always to Mercedes-Benz is not a car to drive its a car to experience.
you only see the blinking on the dash because of the camera frame rate. is this the first video you've seen w/ this stuff? it's the camera. you don't see it in real life.

Mercedes doing what they do best, making a super sheek interior design. Hands down the best looking EV interior out there but when it comes to EV's, interior isn't at the top of the list of importance, software is! Then charging network for obvious reasons.
So you would prefere it to be bad issolated against noise and without rearwheel steering and massage seats for long haul rides? I realy don't see where it has a weakness. Well I do see 2 weaknesses. It's pricetag and the fact that Mercedes doesn't allow you to get under the hood. That's realy a nono. Stupid politics of the company.
I don't get the hyperscreen at all. It's just an old tech packed to look like new tech. I would really be impressed if they were able to do the whole panel. Specially when the current UI and on screen elements just feel like 2010's android phone.
Dear Kyle, next time position the camera so we can see the entire front screen. The steering wheel was blocking the center of the screen. I know it's difficult, but it's really important we are able to see the front screen. Thanks.
Great car. Two Teslas in my garage, owner since 2013. This is definitely on top of my list to replace my old Model S. Spoiled by the absolutely trash EA chargers. How hard is it to simplify charging? And have glitch free charging? Since 2013 when there were only 4 Tesla Superchargers, I’ve never, EVER had any issues charging at a Tesla supercharger. Volkswagen just doesn’t care about electric. 😡
Now that you have experienced the Tesla Model S Plaid, Mercedes EQS, Lucid Air, you only must test the NIO ET7. A good comparison video of 1 hour and a half in between those 4 cars will get millions of views.🤤
The first time I saw the HyperScreen I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Now I’m thinking it’s a little gimmicky. I don’t that often have passengers, so that screen would go largely unused. And the fingerprints….
I don't like the hyperscreen. The idea of a tight turning circle is great, especially on a massive car. This is such a comprehensive review and I'm surprised the car is ultra-refined, especially in the chassis/suspension. EQ is Mercedes future. EQS, EQE, EQC and the crossover variants. Will Mercedes go to "sustainable" cars and emphasize alternative materials? I think in time they will.
Model s sales are going to tank , I can’t wait till the luxury arm Maybach grabs a few and goes to town , seriously once supercharger access is de restrict why by a model s unless your a 0-60 junky
Thank you for your sharing your video, love the entertainment! Honestly, I would have considered the EQS, but I was extremely disappointed at the look of the car. Mercedes mentioned that they were targeting the Chinese market more, which is why it looks so round! I absolutely love their hyperscreen though and how they lined the interior lights on the inside-it definitely has more ambient lighting than the Lucid. However, I'm not sure how the interior quality will hold up. From my past experience of owning a few Mercedes in the past, it didn't do so well, we would gave squeaks and rattles here and there within the year. The biggest drawback for me on the EQS is the range compared to Lucid, which is why I myself, ended up being a Lucid reservation holder. The EQS doesn't have any security features like sentry mode or built in dash cam like Tesla, not sure about Lucid yet, but I was hinted that they do have a similar feature. It would be ironic if Peter Rawlinson didn't put a system like that in the Lucid. The efficiency is that all German manufacturers have to work on, their efficiency, is one of the reasons why people have reserved the Lucid or people owning a Tesla. 🙂
There is a German range test video by Alexander Bloch for the EQS 450, he drove the German Autobahn from Munich to Berlin (635km/395mi) with a single charge and had 48km/30mi range left in Berlin. Average speed was 104kph/65mph, with a few construction zones limited to 60kph, and driving at 120-130kph (75-81mph) when there were no restrictions. He stated that the EQS was more efficient than a Model 3 at these speeds. ua-cam.com/video/38Mqc41uBrw/v-deo.html
I currently own and drive a 2015 Mercedes S550 with 70K miles and it is wearing beautifully with ZERO squeaks or rattles. Still looks and drives like new. I was initially going to replace it with a new S-500, but am now seriously considering the EQS. I am 1-2 years away from my next purchase, so will have time to drive both and see how they hold up in reviews, etc. No vehicles we have owned have been as reliable as my former Lexus LS460 or my wife's current ES350, but my Mercedes is the best overall vehicle we have ever had if you are willing and able to maintain it and pay the price of doing so.
@@jeffwilliams7351 You feedback is from a serious owner and not a stupid internet keyboard warrior that won't buy anything unlike too many comments here
Give me EQS with Teslas infotainment/navigation/supercharging/selfdriving! I think our only hope is that Tesla becomes the Windows of cars and licenses everything to other manufacturers, so we get the best of both worlds.
I own an EQS and would NEVER want to swap it for a Tesla infotainment system. Why would I want to give up Apple CarPlay and SiriusXM? I simply say Hey Mercedes open Sirius Channel 74 and my Burmeister sound system fills my car with classic 60s rock and roll.
It really is nice! But, it doesn't look like an S-Class IMO. It looks way too much like a cheap compact car. Like my old Civic or something (which isn't an ugly car), but this doesn't look very premium.
31:40 PM2.5 means particulate matter that’s around 2.5 microns in size (PM10 is particles that are around 10 microns in size). And the unit for measuring it is microgram per cubic meter. So you had as little as 1 microgram of PM2.5 per cubic meter of air at that point.
It is supposedly the most aerodynamic car and has a huge pack size but it only delivers 340-350 EPA miles of range. I’m hoping that is going be a very conservative number. The lack of reliable CCS chargers is what will end up being the single largest obstacle to widespread EV adoption in the US. Why can’t all of the big automakers partner together to build out a reliable charging network? They’re spending hundreds of billions of dollars developing EVs just to release them to a market that has no charging infrastructure. Electrify America is a disaster with hardly any new charging stations coming online and the ones they already have are in out of the way places or perpetually broken.

Since 2013 when there were only 4 Tesla Superchargers, I’ve never, EVER had any issues charging at a Tesla supercharger.
Volkswagen just doesn’t care about electric. 😡
Wonder what you would think driving at night in disco mode.
Would like to see you drive the Lucid car and compare it with the Mercedes Benz
Now that you have experienced the Tesla Model S Plaid, Mercedes EQS, Lucid Air, you only must test the NIO ET7. A good comparison video of 1 hour and a half in between those 4 cars will get millions of views.🤤
The first time I saw the HyperScreen I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Now I’m thinking it’s a little gimmicky. I don’t that often have passengers, so that screen would go largely unused. And the fingerprints….
You can take of course the non hyperscreen model like S class
Do you plan on doing a cannonball run with the EQS?
I don't think he would because the EQS doesn't charge as fast as the Taycan which holds the record now.
This "thing" is technologically totalled from day one.
People have been saying that for years and that is yet to happen.
Great video! You will catch up with Doug Demuro!
Time to place a Put Order on Tesla options , So I can get that Beast 😬😬😬😬😬
Your reason for not liking the hyper screen MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE. The hyper screen is amazing!!!
ID4 in regen mode pulls the brake pedal
I love your content, bur seriously, you need to up your game. the glare makes it almost unwatchable at times.
Model s sales are going to tank , I can’t wait till the luxury arm Maybach grabs a few and goes to town , seriously once supercharger access is de restrict why by a model s unless your a 0-60 junky
Or yoke junky.
A Model S never was a luxury car, it's not the same market.
Good luck installing a screen protector on that!!! Especially for fingerprints
Interior is amazing! Exterior looks hideous, it's like a Honda or something like that.
looks nothin like a Honda on the road.
@@kraenk12 not trying to troll. But this car doesn't look like like a Mercedes at all. If you dig the look, 👍 for you. Interior looks amazing though
Mercedes EQS has 785 km of WLTP range despite its mindblowing level of luxury and you dare say it has poor efficency?
There is a German range test video by Alexander Bloch for the EQS 450, he drove the German Autobahn from Munich to Berlin (635km/395mi) with a single charge and had 48km/30mi range left in Berlin. Average speed was 104kph/65mph, with a few construction zones limited to 60kph, and driving at 120-130kph (75-81mph) when there were no restrictions. He stated that the EQS was more efficient than a Model 3 at these speeds.

@@wernerdaghofer4056 Mindblowing performance from the Mercedes. Longest range EV on the market without doubt
@@jeffwilliams7351 You feedback is from a serious owner and not a stupid internet keyboard warrior that won't buy anything unlike too many comments here
Rich people will be trading their Model S for this like there is no tomorrow???????
Give me EQS with Teslas infotainment/navigation/supercharging/selfdriving! I think our only hope is that Tesla becomes the Windows of cars and licenses everything to other manufacturers, so we get the best of both worlds.
Interesting. Last time I drove a M3 I thought, please give me the Navigation and the ADAS of my mercedes. For real!
OK, but then I’ll buy the Mac of cars.
2022 Mercedes Civic 450
Mercedes Benzs interpretation of the model S; guess they started working on it from the moment the model S was out
Looks like a Honda Civic
Must be nice to have money 💰
Just ordered mine.
