Early Bird sold out in literally under an hour
i love that the kickstarter got funded in 33 minutes. now its just the stretch goals
Can you do one on Inuyasha?
I'm basically on the final season of the series.
For context, it's basically like demon slayer before demon slayer. With a love story.
Kuwabara being a delinquent is most likely because of two things, because he hates people who look down on others which at the time was very common in the japanese school system. And if he's in charge of the delinqint gangs he could try reigning them in so they don't hurt innocent people. That's most likely why he's so obsessed with being the strongest when we first meet him. If no one can beat him than he can protect the things he cares about.
Kuwabara making a scene at the funeral was amazing. He was introduced as a punk kid that was always looking for a fight, but he absolutely broke down into a sobbing mess once he thought his rival was dead. It really shows the breath of his compassion not just for Yusuke but for just people in general. It's my favorite scene in the show.
Now this is a hero I can get behind
Before watching the video, gonna make a prediction:
Yusuke: Chaotic Good
Kuwabara: Lawful Good.
Kurama: Neutral Good
Hiei: Chaotic Neutral
I wonder if I'll be right by the end 🤔
Given how Hiei seems to have his own code, I'd say lawful neutral.
I'd slot Kurama in Chaotic Neutral and Hiei in Chaotic Evil.
Kurama is an archfey lord who got cursed to be reborn as a half elf. He loves his mom and helps his mortal allies, but that doesn't make him "good."
Hiei is a demon. He only goes out of his way to help his long-lost sister and his few mortal allies who go out of their way to help him. He routinely uses forbidden dark arts to slaughter his foes and destroy their souls. He's evil. He's pretty nice by the standards of evil characters in general, but he's still evil.
I just finished Yu Yu Hakusho as my 100th anime completed, and it’s so amazing. One of my favorites
Nice it’s my favorite anime of all time even if I do think some of the stuff is a little aged
Kuwabara is best boi and season three has one of my favorite moments of his when he is attacked by Seaman.
That’s also one of my favorite scenes
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Kuwabara going berserk during Yusuke's funeral is definitely relatable.
Ya that made my cry
I adore this type of character! Another of this archtype would be Ryu from Shaman King. He's always looking for a 'best place' for him and his crew.
If this man isn't Lawful good, I will be very surprised.
Huh well amended based on how much the video is covering.
Kuwabara !?
He's awesome, a badass who still has a Kind Heart
Kuwabara was one of my favorite characters of the show. Glad to see him getting respect.
Also keeping eyes peeled for lion guard
Everyone needs to get over "X.com (formerly known as Twitter)" and evolve to its final form: Xitter (pronounced 'shitter').
The BEST BOY!!!
Something to note, Lanipator, the guy who made the abridged version of the anime, is doing a commentary of said abridged series. He currently has a like/view goal in where if his most recent commentary gets enough views and likes, he'll go back to working on the series after years of not touching to at least cover the dark tournament.
Oddly enough, I do wonder if it would be possible to get a redo of the first arc of the show to be more accurate to the manga. But that could be discussed more when Urameshi Yuusuke is the main topic. As for the formal gang leader... Kuwabara is an interesting take on a rival.
I think YYH deserves a Kai/Crystal redo honestly.
If that ever happens, I would hope they fix what the crap that anime did to kuwabara and kept him much closer to his manga counterpart for the most part.
On the topic of the Gentleman Delinquent trope. While Kuwabara is the bro I continue to meme voice on, no one tops Josuke Higashikata from JoJo's Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable. Seriously if there is a character I want covered here from JoJo's, it's him. He and that part's main baddie are one of the many reasons why Part 4 is my favorite of the series. Also for those that don't know by technicality our JoJo in that part is actually more of a side character.
WOO! Kuwa- friggin -bara (that is the way i reffer to him in my mind anytime i think about them) heart of gold that one. Also fits into my weird category of Chaotic -lawful good.
Glad to see some YYH love.
Omg thank you! This is legit my favorite anime! Im so excited!
Kuwabara is a man among men. He’s my favorite. :3
Kuwabara is still my favorite character in the show, along side the Younger Togura. They seem like opposite sides of the same coin, being a reflection of what the other might have been under different circumstances.
I hope you're happy Stuart.
I backed your kickstarter.
Not because I'm interested in the content, but because I want to support the Loading Crew.
I appreciate that my dude! thank you :)
@@TheLoadingCrew also, I'm playing PF2 and I kinda want to make my DM suffer with your subclasses
Kuwabara has a Lawful Bro allignment and you can't convince me otherwise.
I loved watching Yu-Yu Hakusho growing up. Kurabara and Joey Wheeler were my personal heroes...
yeah when I saw the thumbnail I was all "oh hell yeah Kuwabara is one of my favorite characters. dude is a proper man. Strong, yet gentle."
My boy Kuwabara, yeaaaaah. Couldn't be more happy about this making alignment video!
He may seem like a punk but is very lawful good
This is a nice surprise!
I thought I wouldn't enjoy Yu Yu Hakusho when I started to watch it.....then Kuwabara showed up, the funeral scene happened, & he immedietly skyrocketed to one of my all time favorite characters in ANYTHING
Lanipator made a fantastic abridged in those pioneering days!
Hank Hill as Kuwabara is peak comedy
6:10 I never realized we had a cameo of Zangief in this series
oh my favorite shonen growing up, need a rewatch
He's from my favorite anime. I just stumbled upon you. Already loving the content
Our favorite charismatic Spirit Sword boi is getting the spotlight. Booyah!
Watching your series on this show might have influenced my decision on an important life battle on a devols bargin.
So glad he started with the main character from YuYu.
Also, i would argue chapter black is just as good as dark tournament, it's just different
One of my favorite characters of all time
My all time favorite, Kuwabara is the man.
I'm super excited for YYH alignments!
Glad the Kickstarter is going well!
Super glad your highlighting this gem of a show! I really came to love each of these characters. Gotta rewatch it some day.
The manliest Shonen is definitely Fist of the North Star.
Kuwabara is the greatest character of all time
Fuck yeah I love Yu Yu Hakushou!
In all honesty, I do think that the best arc of Yu Yu Hakusho is actually the Chapter Black arc, so stopping at the Dark Tournament arc (which is a close second) is still missing out on crucial character development for Kuwabara.
Man, I need to rewatch this show. It's been almost two decades since I watched it XD
Awesome video guys 😎👍
Toonami is where I saw pieces of this show remember mostly yhe pilot
After seeing this intro, I am now required to ask for 'What D&D Alignment is Hank Hill'
The actual, audible squee of glee when I saw this
One of the first animes i ever watched it, its bettew Yuyu and Saint Seya. This show is the main reasson why tournament arc are my favorite arc in anime.
I used to watch Yu Yu Hakushou at Toonami... Good times.
15:30
DO NOT apologize for that. It's twitter. That's still the URL and nobody actually calls it X unironically
7:15 it just occurred to me… the Garlic Jr filler arc about the Blackwater Mist basically ripped off this storybeat…
I've only watched the up to Kuwabara helping his pal by studying, but that episode alone made me like him more than Yusuke
I loved this series back in the day. And yes, I absolutely ship Hiei and Kurama. I'm looking forward to the other videos.
YYH is one of the best anime of all time
How could my boy be anything other than a lawful good character?
I always wondered why he never sensed Genkais death either. But I always interpreted he was more distracted shitting himself over Team Toguro. 😂
The anime waifus are great, but you had me at cooking system, since my current character is a Barbarian who likes to cook.
I think it’d be super cool to see your alignment thoughts on the Crew of Serenity from Firefly. :)
Hell yeah my favorite anime!
Great anime I loved as a kid also interesting trivia but it was originally planned to end after the dark tournament. so seasons 3 and 4 were kinda a hastily made addition still good but yeah,
Kuwabara is definitely a great example of healthy masculinity, he's also the most "human" of the team more so after season 4 but he has a good heart and a few of his quotes still stick with me.
Can’t wait for Kurama, he’s the best (and also my husband)
I can see how this would be seen as the manliest shounen. Between Yusuke's character arc, overcoming Younger Toguro, and Kuwabara's everything it's a fine display of positive masculinity.
I have a lot to comment and it’s all good
Number one favorite anime and favorite anime character I didn’t even watch the video and I gave it a like
I do understand that the dark tournament is definitely the best ark in the show but I do think the next to it, give it good insight into all of the characters, but it is super long, so it’s understandable to not cover them
I also think the villains are really good one offs to do because they’re all very complex and simple
Next I came up with a theory just now that the reason he didn’t know genka was dead, was because Yuskay had her spirit orb
Also, your super agree that his archetype should be used more
And finally, I mostly agree with where he’s putting the alignment I would say he’s a lawful good, but he does a lot of chaotic good stuff, so I probably would’ve put them at neutral good just because he’s so flip-flopping between the two, but I do think most of his chaotic stuff is because he’s a teenager
Ps i’ve been commenting these guys forever so it’s very nice to see them come out
Kenshin is goated
Judging from his early behaviors, I'd say it's much more accurate to start him in lawful good territory, not chaotic good. At the start of the story he's described as being dedicated to his personal "code", which, as noted, includes refusing to commit crimes such as theft even to save a hostage. I'm not really sure whether some of the "chaotic good" items later on should really qualify as "chaotic", but at the very least he starts out leaning heavily into the lawful side.
On the other hand, don't you dare set Yuusuke's initial point to anything but Chaotic Good. The guy is made of two things at the start: "Screw the rules" and "do what's right".
Shiroe from log horizon would be cool. Even with three seasons, there plenty to analyze in just the first season personally.
Kuwabara could easily be slotted into neutral good or lawful good. If we're defining lawful as just "has a code" then he's the most lawful character on the show.
Yusuke is chaotic good. He's more of an example of chaotic good than most of the characters that people slot into chaotic good on alignment memes.
Kurama is chaotic neutral. Doesn't matter what point system you use to redefine the flawed alignment system. He's an archfey lord that is presently cursed into a mortal body and the vast majority of the good deeds he does can be tied to Fey laws of hospitality, etiquette, and favor I.O.U.s. He loves his mortal mother, he considers Yusuke someone he owes a debt to for helping to save her, he can be kind to Yusuke, Kuwabara, and the women in their lives, but none of that changes the fact that he's still an immortal trickster assassin.
Hiei is chaotic evil. He's a demon assassin. He genuinely cares about his long lost sister and her happiness, but that's it for his capacity to be emotionally invested in others. He respects Yusuke for defeating him in a duel, and he can play nice with the small number of mortals Yusuke cares about while Yusuke his helping him achieve his goals, but he's still evil. Hiei routinely uses forbidden dark arts to slaughter his foes and destroy their souls. He doesn't volunteer to save the world out of the goodness of his heart. He fights alongside the good guys because he wants the world to keep existing fir his or his sister's benefit. Or because he just likes murdering the mote powerful demons who inevitably get in Yusuke's way.
And I'm sure the korra episode comments will be filled out with nothing but appreciation and well formed discussions with everyone on their best behaviour with out comparing korra to aang in a negatively
Can't wait to see Lani on the channel
Kwabara being left behind in the final arc made me sad
Requesting Glados, Wheatley and Cave Johnson from Portal. Also, Shiroe, Akatsuki and Naotsugu from Log Horizon.
Oh...I am literally in the middle of a rewatch of this series. It's a good one, with what still, all these decades later, THE best Tournament Arc of any shonen, hands down. Also one of the worst, but by then the series was wrapping up and the focus was on a certain event, not the tournament itself, so its forgivable.
Anyway, the Dark Tournament is still the high watermark for such things. The team fights means that the 'protagonists' are never up against each other, so there no sudden betrayals amongst the good guys, or holding back to not hurt their friends or teammates, just out and out brawls.
Better, they have to go all out from the start, and while there is a definitive power curve amongst the other teams, there's not this question of how the weaker ones got in, as none of them are actually punching bags for the heroes. Instead each one shows of skills and abilities that are deadly and show off that they could win against others.
Heck, the moral dilemmas that Tournament arcs love to toss in, sometimes without rhyme or reason, are still there, still pushing them, but without the contrivances some other stories get into to make them happen. Even the typical 'the other team has a better reason to win' isn't present since this is a 'we lose, we die' thing for the good guys, so they will always have that better reason.
Oh, and since it's a team battle, some teams actually have good or at least honorable people in them, meaning there's a whole morality dynamic that is missing from others. Heck, the ones who survive their fights to come back later are both because they're not bad people, but also because they're not stupid enough to keep fighting once they've been beaten, which, for demons, is a rare combination.
Such a good boy
Since the main character dies and technically goes to a different world would this be an isekai? Just a thought
I would say uncle iroh is the quintessential manly character but this one is not a bad option at all
One of the best character in yyh. If there's was a character that deserved better, its kuwabara. I would have killed for a new arc of him dropping the crap with yukina and training to be powerful and refined.
I’m still surprised there isn’t a “Chaotic Stupid” category in all of your videos.
Kuabara is best waifu!
when are you going to do hunterxhunter? i really want to hear your take on the weirdness that is Gon.
I hope yall do tenchi muyo
I love yu yu Hakusho
is the grinch his first name or his species name?
What is the music playing in the background when Stuart is talking about his book? Please and thank you

@TheLoadingCrew Thanks Dear best of luck
Please do deku
Here again to ask for a video on Violet Evergarden!
Most likely be somewhere between Lawful Good and Neutral Good.
I remember I once read that Bleach was heavily influenced by Yu Yu Hakusho. Personally I don't see it but that's what I read
My opinion is that dragon shiryu is even more masculine. Most of the saints are. Their ability to choose to sacrifice yourself for others without a moments doubt, true men. Though kuwabara is kind of like it, I just find him to emotional. Men should be stoic. But of course he's a kid. So it's normal.
"if youve seen hunter X Hunter, watch this"
there made by the same mangaka (who also married the creator of sailor moon)
sorry, I don't follow you on twitter (the one time dead naming is lawful good since X is already copywritten), but how did JoJo lose the manly competition?
When Kuwabara powered up from seeing Yukina it wasn't Chaotic Good, it was Chaotic Horny.
One piece is in no way "manlier", I present the knife-edge death match.
I rest my case.
Kuwabara has always been my favorite but im just sad that he kinda just becomes the joke character a lot of times
That was a cheap shot and I was only knocked out for a little bit ok
Oh *GOD* , Anyone but Korra. I'd take one on a character who's only shown once in a show over THAT hot garbage. X_X
Think you released this one out of orderr
