UPDATE: Now that I got the proper rest after my latest project (Check out my "Song of the Splash Mountain" video if you haven't already), scripting for a certain "Yusuke VS Toguro" coverage has begun...And by begun, I mean I'm 14 pages in and just reached the start of the "fight".
This is where the fun begins...
The thing I appreciate the most about Toguro is despite his gimmick being grotesquely bulging muscles and insane physical strength, he wasn’t a full blown “brute” he had brains to go with his brawn.
Also he actually did have ranged attacks, he just rarely used them.
@@marhawkman303 ah yes flicking his finger nails at people. The ultimate form of ranged attacks lol
@@user-hi8sw3rq7t and in his case? Potentially deadly.
Brain and emotion, AND brawn.
Well he was cunning. In manga/anime they don't have to be exclusive of each other.
He was enough of a brute that he never wanted to die naturally but he wasn't smart enough to know that's a poor existence.
Did you understand that about his character arc concluding?
The fact that everyone on the team just wanted to kill Toguro was so interesting and cruel. They weren’t teammates, they were slaves literally fighting for freedom.
so true
It's dope tho cuz it showed that this dude wasn't all talk n bullshit...he really had the muscle (no pun intended) to hold shit down and back up everything he said....
@@hurieconerly3946 exactly. the bystanders of the dark tournament fainted by togurows power when he powered up
@@m74568 They were literally having their essences/souls stolen. Puu had to create an energy barrier so the ladies on Team Urameshi wouldn’t die. Toguro was truly terrifying. Yusuke’s final fight with Toguro is one of the only anime fights where I truly couldn’t think of how the protagonist would win; the other being Goku’s fight with Frieza before he became a Super Saiyan and Frieza nuked Namek
@@CIII328 yup toguro was powerful and badass he chose to go to hell to punish himself for what he did.
I wish I could erase my memory of Yu Yu Hakusho and watch the Dark Tournament for the first time again.
There’s always Alzheimer’s
@@1994Trill Damn lol
Although in theory its a good idea... In reality you'd just forget the series existed lol...
@@1994Trill lol...
When I first saw toguro's transformation, I was incredibly in awe
The Dark Tournament is like a measuring stick that I compare pretty much every anime arc to, especially tournament arcs. It’s so good.
I don’t think a tournament arc had topped it yet
It just most tournament arcs are void of compelling story telling this one was not!!!
No tournament arc can ever hope to beat this one
My favorite scene is where Toguro is straight up carrying the entire fighting stage on his shoulder to the tournament grounds.
only to destroy it again on his fight against Yusuke with just one punch
@@charlesa1234 🤣🤣🤣
Are you ready for me to blow your mind?
The first fire user Hiei fought in the dark tournament was the guy who gave him the idea to absorb the Darkness Flame, like he did to his own conjured flames to boost his strength. It was why he considered it a shame to kill him, because he taught him something.
*Ascension begins*
You mean Zeru.
Wow I missed this. Nice 👍🏼
I got another good one.
Kurama is technically his own father! He became flesh through a human woman, to hide and heal, but it was a desperate move. He's created an entity both himself, and not himself, almost like a son. A human side acting on it's own, one that he could "easily" break out of, now that he's healed, and become the same demon he's always been (this is my speculation), but at the expense of his human side, and it seems he's content to let Kurama live his life (and experience humanity in a way no demon could) like a father trapped inside a prison that he could easily get out of but refuses to break out, through love. Either love for the woman/kid, Kurama's love for his mother, or the spirit fox's love for himself
@@landonletterman831 Honestly kurama always confused me with that.
It amazed me how much the spectators of this fight was so willing to watch it even though a great many number of them gets routinely massacred with each match.
I think that was the point they're there for murder
Seeing Koto live to hopefully get an autograph and or date
They were demons
It was just TOO good to miss, my man!
How could you leave out the sheer terror Togoro caused when he carried the ring after Hiei and Bui's match? It was a solid blow to the morale of team Urameshi.
It was indeed. But that feat in particular will fit in much better whenever I go over Yusuke V Toguro by itself
@@TrevorTiger It didn't just hit Yusuke though. It was a pretty big blow to Kuwabara's morale. He was feeling a bit better when he Yukina came to visit, but the ground rumbling and eventual sight of Togoro carrying the ring knocked him back down a peg.
It was also pretty ridiculous, even for anime. That much weight on top of such a small guy should have caused him to sink into the ground. Toguro's strength isn't the issue, the strength of the dirt is the issue. It also should have crumbled as he tried to set it down. And where was the entrance to carry the thing in? Did he throw it over the top of the stadium to get it into position?
@@Toshinben The stadium had been blown open by Hiei and Bui
@@TrevorTiger where is the Yusuke vs Toguro video?
Bui has a whole fanbase of his own lol. That's how awesome these guys were.
He should have won his fight. Hiei literaly won once again by doing his bs "what you do to me actualy maje me stronger/heal me" out of nowhere as the bishonen badass he is.
Hell yeah, I'm in that fanbase
@@evgeniblanchard675 he should not have won since hiei literally was A class apparition in the past, he was nerfed only temporarily by jagan implant. But they should have included him in the future arcs to show his complete story. He was the only survivor of team Toguro in the end.
@@SpaceMarine113 what a coincidence right? Just for the plot...
@@ZA-7 what do you mean? in a good story everything serves the plot. It's all fiction after all.
What I really like in this anime is that, the demon characters' designs. They are really unique for each of them.
Jesus Christ is lord. Please take your salvation seriously. Read three books of the Bible. The first book of each testament and one you chose yourself. Please be genuine enough to go that far. Please
@@jamesmayle3787 which one did I say wrong, I'm just referring to the anime and not on any religious beliefs. You're the one thinking about creepy things. My statement is only limited on this anime.
Togoru breaking the parking lot was scary asf to me as a child cuz you could see and feel yusukes fear in that moment it was so real
Was literally thinkin about this exact thing earlier like 12 hours before I found this video😂 shits crazy
Team Urameshi: Gets told you must have 5 members
Team Toguro: Has 4 members
Toguro kills Genkai outside of the tournament to make it an even fight or else that would have been really awkward later.
Lol yeah I was thinking that too. But I remembered in the show they explain that by saying the 5th member was the one guy with long black hair always hanging around togouro. He said if they lost he would off himself. That the team was so strong they didn't need a legit 5th member so he was just the fill in
The true final fight would have been Sakyo vs Koenma, but sakyo already agreed that if Toguro loses he'd just surrender.
But yeah he just fuckingkills Genkai to make it fair.
@@Champsr0ck2247 Man bummer, that would have been an interesting match to see
What a chad, he really cares about fairness
Sakyo vs Koenma would end in a philosophical debate and Im all for that
Toguro was obviously inspired by T2. Toguro was Arnold and the Elder Toguro was Robert Patrick’s T-1000.
That's a very good hypothesis, chapter 52 (the dark tournament)being released only a cpl months after t2s release.
@@alexsibilia6681 Yoshihiro Togashi like many other Japanese manga writers and artists. They love American movies. When watching the Chimera Ant saga I can’t help but feel it was inspired a bit from Alien 2. They both have a Queen laying eggs. Those organisms then go out and collect others. There is a team sent into infiltrate to stop the Queen. Way to similar.
One character I feel deserves to be mentioned is Sakyo. We met him either before the Toguros or shortly thereafter. Sakyo, more than any other character in all of YYH, radiated pure evil. This was a man with pleasures so vicious, he scared demons. He wanted to open a portal to the scariest demons that would render all his wealth & status irrelevant, because _that_ was his idea of "interesting".
What's worse was how calm yet confident he was in everything. He never raised his voice or showed even a hint of concern at anything that went on. He calculated every major play and flexibly adjusted for unexpected factors with ease. Karasu liked to play with his food, Bui couldn't do anything less than obliterate a foe, and the Elder Toguro was as sadistic as they come; but none of them exuded that "higher evil" menace like Sakyo. The man enjoyed the idea of bathing the entire world in blood more than inflicting it himself. *That* is scary.
Makes him a great villian, though.
Team Toguro was power scaling done so very well. Even as someone who loves series like Dragonball, YYH remains the only series that seemed to get scaling down right. Well, up until late Chapter Black and the Three Kings saga, that I never felt was handled properly and it seemed like Togashi was trying to end things quickly (case and point, the manga) but the Dark Tournament is the paramount of power scaling.
While their power was miles above the main team at the beggining, it never felt like it was out of reach. We knew Yusuke would have beaten Toguro cause he is the protag and training under Genkai who we later find out won the tournament alongside Toguro, in the first fight Hiei showed what the balck dragon could do, Kurama always has some sort of strategy and trick up his sleeve and Kuwabara had a lot of potential for growth even is he is the weakest one.
We knew Karasu could blow stuff up, Bui was built like a tank, Older Toguro was REALLY creepy and Youger Toguro an absolute powerhouse and, while very intimidating, it wasnt like they were throwing energy attacks that could blow up a continent like in the final arc. They were deadly, not overkill.
Still bullshit that Toguro was only considered a B rank demon though
@@100navat ikr?
Crazy how Toguro would get absolutely destroyed by Yomi
YYH is my favorite anime of all time to this day and I believe season 4 should have never happened. specifically the mazoku 3 kins arc
Team Toguro is one of my favorite villain teams.
Just finished rewatching this arc and it was amazing. Sakyo’s monologue at the end was a personal favorite. Now to rewatch Chapter Black & Sensui for the 1000000th time
I see no issues in that whatsoever.
I just restarted watching this series on a different platform. And somehow they threw the first yu yu hakusho video in my feed for months at the same time.
Damn, I’ve found my people
Dark tournament and Chapter Black are the main reasons why I love this show
We Filipinos call him Mr. Valdez.
I remember watching this fight and the next day my classmates would be talking about it like how massive boxing fights or championship UFC match happened... I never got over how well the toguro arc was written, one of my inspirations in how to build up an antagonist when IO am writing stories.
Wow you watched YYH back in the 90s.
What it was like while also reading the weekly release of the manga?
@@alchemistofsteel8099 we had a shitty tv back then but our neighbor was my classmate also so we would watch new episodes on their new tv.... Each episode that contained toguro was the talk of the school the next day it was amazing since the internet was very limited back then. I never was rich enough to order manga or shonen jump from japan back then so all we had was weekly night anime episodes.
Yoooo can relate lmao. This spurred the first time I got into an actual fight. We were kindergarteners but yu yu hakusho was big in my area. Somehow me and my buddy began debating about the Drunk guy vs Yusuke fight. The debate got intense. It resulted in two five year olds trying to mimic the fight itself in the corner of some classroom just to prove who was stronger.
I wondering is kids now days do the same! Remembering we used to talk about last episode of manga/anime we watched, fights between Cell and Goku, Yosuke and Toguro, and slam dunk!
I absolutely loved every fight. It shows the determination and grit Team Urameshi went through, while still maintaining the raw power of Team Toguro. They didn't rely on the "power of friendship" and made the antagonists weaker. It was just a straight up brawl with everyone going at 100%. YuYu Hakusho is one of those shows that you can justify rooting for the bad guy because he's just that badass.
Hiei screaming on a rock while he acts tough around everyone is one of the best too. Blood spurting out Yusuke’s head and blood curdling screams as Yusuke absorbs the spirit orb….the character arcs were top tier!
Toguro's so called 85% as you called it really was 100% of Toguro's power, and his final increase in power is referred to as 100% of 100%, or 120% in one case.
Yep, he was at 120%, the manga said it well done sir
@@shozanhanma2709 Yeah to go up to 120% Toguro ate the life energy of most of the audience. So it wasn't like he could just jump to that level on his own, he needed to be surrounded by dozens of demons whose power he could steal.
And it kills him
@@kazemizu wel... pretty sure Yusuke helped with him dying...
@@marhawkman303 a little bit
I still get that nostalgic feeling when I go back and watch this show. Truly a masterpiece 👍
I think it's worth mentioning in terms of the pre-fight intimidation that until Toguro, Yusuke had never shown anything near this level of heart-stopping, brain-melting fear before. He's been uncertain, and doubted whether he could win- but he's never been completely speechless, frozen to the spot, trembling like a scared child. The ability to break clean through all of Yusuke's machismo and reflexive defenses had never been seen until he was forced to confront exactly what Toguro's power really looked like compared to where he was at, and that's a paradigm shift that you just can't help but feel uneasy about.
I think we missing a big point. Koenma only had Yusuke and Kuwabarra as a line of defense. He sent them in to get slaughtered in almost every arc. He could have sent in the spirit world defense team or you know choose someone else like genkai or a retired spirit detective.
Retired spirit detective? Like the one that tried to open a portal to the demon world and end humanity?
@@feralcyborggaming1531 there was another one before sensui. Yusuke met her, she had two kids that were above the average d class demons. To my knowledge we never get to see her fight.
@@Phantomwolf10 thank you. That's exactly what I was going to say. Koenma had other options.
No wonder Bui's attire is so damn intimidating. He doesn't speak, so his armor has to speak *FOR ME.*
AMAZING VIDEO. This show will always have a soft spot for me, the fights & teams were all better than most expected them to be &show yusukes team be shorthanded at every turn. You did what you set out to do..hyped me up enough to wanna watch it again!
The dark tournament arc was always my favorite arc in YYH. I know everyone might think I’m crazy but my main man was always Kuwabara. I don’t fucking care if he was the weakest one of the group, Kuwabara kicks fucking ass!!! And the dark tournament is where we get to see him at his fighting best. When he stepped out from the final story arc I couldn’t bring myself to care anymore.
everyone thinks so aswell even the author agrees
For sure.
Kuwabara was always the most relatable and human of the team all in all.
He's got heart, man. He's like the Krillin of the group.
@@lindyxyo4254 And I thought I was the only one who saw him as the Krillin of the group. lol. Seriously though, Kuwabara is freakin awesome!
@@HarbingerOfBattle yeah, like Krillin, Kuwabara throws down with beings who should be untouchable by mere Human hands. But like Master Roshi.... Genkai shows everyone that a true master is so far above a normal person that they're essentially superhuman.

I love how Bui just shows up and stands there menacingly.
17:57 So I did some digging to check out which came first, Karasu or Yoshikage Kira, because if there's one thing I know about Araki, it's that he's been in the business forever. Karasu demonstrates his power when he first shows up, so his first appearance in the manga will be the first demonstration of his explosive touch of death. This occurs in chapter 52, which made its first debut in Shonen Jump in 1992. Yoshikage Kira's first appearance in the Diamond is Unbreakable manga is 1993 in chapter 334, and he doesn't reveal Killer Queen until Jan 1st, 1994 in chapter 345, so yeah, this makes Karasu the OG Killer Queen by roughly two years. Don't know if Trevor knew that from the manga or was just going on the fact Yu Yu Hakusho's anime started WAY before the Diamond is Unbreakable anime, but either way, he's right.
LOL it’s funny you say that. I did the same thing because I didn’t know who came first when I wrote the joke. No regrets though
That's a pretty cool fact I honestly thought Karasu was inspired by Kira especially with the whole going from black hair to blonde and vice versa.
@@descendantofartorias2067 Oh, shit, I didn't even think of that! That's a hell of a coincidence!
During the entire dark tournament arc I had no idea how Yueske’s team would win. It felt hopeless and terrifying. Man this was the best
Dude..you left a small part out..when togouro went from 85% to fill 100% ...the mocking he did of yuske when he got hit with a spirit gun...an yuske calling him out for faking it...that was iconic there as well...you can't forget that part
what impresses me abt Toguro is that his power is Upper B Class (Possibly a lower A Class) . and he still wears a helmet when he rode a motorbike
so kids if you are riding a motorcycle please wear a helmet . even taguro wears a helmet
He probably didn't want a ticket
This is the equivalent of even the most ruthless gangster still use a seatbelt
I'm pretty sure the helmet was to protect the street from cracking if/when making contact with his head.
Who's "taguro"?
everyone, yusuke fought his heart out against yomi it was commendable yes. But remember he was literally knocked into next week. That is all.
Tbf, if Yomi’s annoying brat didnt call for his dad, Yusuke would’ve tied/won against Yomi
What i like about Toguro is that he could have killed Yusuke from the get go if he wanted to in the Tournament . But the man just had a death wish.
Karazu is the most brutal in team toguro for me. I like his ability. It was a lucky day for kurama.
I know I'm very late to comment but thank u for this golden video from the editing to the fear I felt from the explanation to the character being used in voice over dubs for screen transition, this was the best yu Yu vid I've ever seen
Prolly been more than a decade since I last watched anything Yu Yu Hakusho, but your passion and enthusiasm is making me want to watch it again, just gotta figure out where. Great Video, keep it up.
Great video man! Really enjoyed it
There are 2 types of tournament stories. Only 2 parties have a chance of winning or anyone has a chance of winning. The dark tournament is the former and it does such a good job of it. Yusuke and his team are the ONLY guys who have a chance and the pressure is slowly building. Great stuff. Good video.
If we're discussing terror factors, I'm surprised you didn't mention the emphasis on the confidence of Team Toguro when it's revealed that they only have 4 fighting members of the team because the manager is also a member.
A fantastically fun video over a fantastically fun villain team. Great work!
Also, I caught that Skies of Arcadia music there. I approve. 👍
I love how the dark tournament was so unfair to the humans. Togashi-san really knows how to build tension in subtle ways: it made every win feel like a triumph against all odds
I just found your video and I'm glad you made a video about the entire Toguru Team
Halfway thru the video, this is awesome bro good work 💪
I love how teguro was a legit threat and backed up his talk...IMO yuske vs Teguro is on one of the most iconic anime fights
I'm surprised you didn't mention how younger togoro kills Butajiri. I don't think I've ever seen a better display of power from a bad guy before or since.
..............F******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Lol killing a civilian no matter how repulsive is a small feat.
After watching this show twice I gotta say... the win against Elder was the hardest in the show. That's saying a lot.
This is the only anime where I was completely into the bad guys. TEAM Toguro were so bad ass and Toguro himself was so good that I could not get myself to like team Huramishi
completely with you on that. Outside of Elder Toguro I was cheering for the bad guys the whole way. Bui and Karasu are easily two of my favorite villains just in the way they're presented. Sadly I do think that both fights had poor endings since it was necessary to maintain the lives of the heroes.
Toguro looking more like Arnold Schwarzenegger than an anime character was a great touch. It's such a departure from the goofy colors and hairstyles you're used to in anime that it makes Toguro feel creepy.
God thank you for reminding me how much feelings I felt watching this man this was best tournament ever
Thx for the trip down memory lane
Yu yu hakusho is still my favorite anime of all time and it’s sad a lot of people haven’t even heard of it and the dark tournament saga as a whole is one of the best arcs of any anime as well
Yoooo! It's so surreal to see the thumbnail for my Dark Tournament video essay at 0:39 in another content creator's video!
Dude, I REALLY enjoyed this analysis of Team Toguro. Keep it up, man!
Dude Team Toguro is legendary! You're absolutely correct when saying that they are more than a match for our heroes, and not just in raw power: they stack up to our heroes when it comes to speed, the games of the mind, and just the raw terror that they exude. The fact that our heroes scrape by, by the skin of their teeth, is unthinkable. And yet it happened.
Glad to have watched your video man. You did a great job keep it up!
Oh you definitely sold me. Though you didn't have to work that hard. Karasu has always been my favorite member of Team Toguro and his fight with Kurama remains my favorite fight in all of Yu Yu Hakusho. I'm looking forward to your covering the fights further in depth, especially that one. Thanks for highlighting not only some of my favorite villains in Yu Yu But some of my favorite in all of anime as well.
🇧🇷 We Brazilians keep this anime in a very special place! In our version Toguro got Stallone's voice and Genkai by Woopy Goldberg by their official lipsing actors!!
Oh my God, that is fucking beautiful
Younger Toguro: I wish to be made into a demon of the highest class.
Elder Toguro: Make me a nasty Mr. Fantastic that kinda looks like Jimmy Page.
Back for the live action show these guys are making a comeback, Bui and the Toguro's looked sick in the trailer, I hope its good.
Yu Yu Hakusho needs a remake to clean up the last arc, but I don't trust anybody to do it.
Loved this
The problem with Kuwabara as a character in power scaling, is it was made clear since day one, he was always a lesser, knock off with traits of his teammates.
He was primarily a spirit manifestation user like yusuke, with no where close the same power potential as it's shown that spirit energy is an obvious natural talent and not something you can really train
He was a sword wielder without anywhere near close the level of technique and skill of Heihei, no where close the speed, and would never even be fifty percent the swordsman he is.
He was also a tactician, shown to be clever and creative in how he problem solved his fights against greater opponents, but when compared to kurama, he' might as well be a child competing against an adult genius.
If he was a fighting game character, he would basically be a B tier shoto, with traits of everyone, but a master of nothing, and I find this would be his downfall as a fighter. For what made his teammates become top god tier level fighters, is they chose something and perfected it to the fullest.
Yusuke was by far the best spirit user and hand-to-hand combat fighter
Hiei was by far the best swordsman, and also fully mastered specific techniques like darkness flame
Kurama was by far the smartest, and fully mastered his plant style as primarily a long-distance zoner-type fighter.
But then you get to Kuwabara, what did he master? and the answer is really nothing, he just got good at a bunch of random things, and never even really had a proper fighting style that was well put together. Even at his peak, it was always clunky. If i was the creator and wanted to make the character more relevant, I think the direction I would of went is this.
-I would of given him a sensei that recognizes his ability to turn his spirit energy into actual objects, and we could of given him this spirit manipulation ability where he could create any type of weapon he wanted. Spears, swords, axes, hell even armor, really let him go almost green lantern mode with his spirit energy. I feel it would of fit his style really well.
-Also buff his psychic abilities, its very clear he had a natural talent in it that was never perfected, give him the ability to be two seconds to even ten seconds ahead of his opponents in reading, make him go almost Sasuke stage one Sharingan mode.
I feel these buffs would of made sense for his character when you read what he was capable of, while not overly breaking him to overshadow Yusuke.
Hell you could of done a whole training arch where he temporarily surpasses Yusuke, and he ends up teaching Yusuke a thing or two, that would of been cool.
I love shonen manga, but unfortunately, they have a bad habit of leaving their sidekick character to rot in development.
He's the most human of the main 4 and despite always being lesser, he was always there to impact the story. Minus the last arc. Most shonen dont give any shine to the side protagonists, so while i do wish they gave Kuwabara some more moments, they at least let him have his moments and the fact that he was weaker made his character more impressive. He was always the underdog.
I appreciate how Kuwabara is all human, no demon energy needed.
he mastered having Guts and standing up like a mannnnn that's why he's kuwabara
Kuwabara basically just has stronger spirit sensing powers and spirit plot armor. But his character honestly makes up for his lack of unique fighting skills.
Regarding Hiei absorbing the dragon, yes he gets a huge power boost but after what? 5 minutes he faints for hours. Even if he was strong enough to fight Toguro, which I dont belive he was, he woundt last long enough to finish the fight
True but Hiei says that nobody ever bothered to learn how to PROPERLY control the Darkness Dragon and we don't actually see the effects until later in the series since the 6 hour sleep was Hiei's body getting accustomed to absorbing the Darkness Dragon; hell, Kuwabara's abilities took a month or so to evolve after the tournament ended
I think he could’ve beaten 80% toguro just barely within the time limit, but 100% toguro? Ehhhhhhhh no.
Yusuke with spirit cuffs off + Hiei with the dragon absorbed could’ve probably done it though
"and I have a sword!" Good job kurabara. Good job.
Toguro is an absolute wall in every meaning of the word. I was afraid for Yosuke, having to fight this monster but he prevailed despite all.
Toguro was A class demon. He may have been at the extreme low end of that class, but Yusuke was fighting against sensei... And that guy was putting out a class levels before he cranked up the sacred energy.
Sensui. Even said that the three of them, if they reached the level that Yusuke was, would still not stand a chance.... All of them reached A class levels , and they were still ineffective against him.
These series got me into anime. I bought all the seasons.!! Great watch
All the fights in Yuyu Hakusho but especially Team Toguro fights are incredible. I think it's because the fights are short and sweet but they portray so much action and emotion in every scene
Love that during the TEAM STARE DOWN Botan is on Team Urameshi’s side. I always thought maybe she would be the replacement 5th member with shinigami powers. I just love Botan.
New fan…. Love ur videos
The build up and tension during this arc was outstanding
Great breakdown good sir.
Toguro wanted yusuke to prove he chose the wrong patch choosing becoming a demon. Truly a great antagonist with a heart
I feel like Karasu was later inspiration for Kubo in the TYBW arc in bleach
I think the villains name is Asnot.
as nolt
And Bambietta...Who actually has bomb powers.
@@undertaker9991 nice
I honestly thought toguro would return during the 2nd tournament and was excited what power up he would have and who he will fight. Sad it didn't happen.
Well he was sent to mega hell
He’s dead
This is one of my favourite anime arc's ever as well as one of my favourite anime villains ever. I feel like this is tournament arc done right and despite his looks Toguro has plenty of depth and relation to the story which makes the whole arc as engaging as it is. There's always things going on in the background and shows all the characters involved grow a great deal.
Yu Yu Hakusho was the very first anime that I really felt disturbed.
On one matches of the Toguro Team, the older Toguro indiscriminately killed an entire team, including a woman. One was also begging for his life and he tortured them to their deaths.
This is great 👍 you should do more stuff like this.
Many thanks!!! That Yusuke VS Toguro video will come one day...
@@TrevorTiger Ohh.. maybe discuss how many of the yu-Yu Hakusho bad guys are... actually suicidal and want to commit death by cop.
It's one weird thing I've seen in discussions in the past. Several of them, especially the "main" bad guys, secretly want to lose, and maybe die. This is why Younger Toguro chose to NOT allow his brother to help him. He was fine with dying.
The imagery of all four of them walking up to Team Urameshi is the most hardest thing in any anime.
I think Togoro was The nightmare version of what team Yurameshi could have been
Fear, fascination and sheer charisma, the hype around Team Toguro was done so right!!
I L O V E D this show I was hoping to see an adult version to this. Thanks for the memories
This is my favorite anime back in 1992 when i am still a kid. Absolutely love it.
Team Toguro (TT) is the dark inversion of Team Urameshi (UT) TT are bonded only by their desire to kill the Toguro Brothers. While there is a history of animosity and bickering among the members of TU, they want to fight with, against, and for Yusuke. They have a brotherhood, not a flimsy alliance. Yusuke and Kurabara are best friends with a brother like bond, and while they fight, they would never betray each other. The Younger Toguro (YT) betrayed the Elder (EY) (to be fair, he had it coming with the disgusting comments about Genkai).
YT- represents everything Genkai fears Yusuke could become, if he chooses demonic power over humanity, Fear over Love.
ET- A monster who is cold, cruel, and can move his heart anywhere is defeated by the only pure human on the team, who is all heart, fueled by love and compassion for his friends (and Yukina).
Bui - probably the best expression of who Hiei is deep down. Powerful, restrained, devastating when let loose, has a sense of honor despite himself.
Karasu- represents Kurama's true nature as a demon, which makes it fitting that Kurama doesn't defeat him as Yoko, but in his human form, being willing to die to help Yusuke (reasoning it would at least end in a draw). His very human desire to die fighting and take his opponent with him is what saves his life.
100% nailed this from start to finish
this was such a good video UwU
Great vedio I subscribed
Very good commentary
The absolute goat of villains and overall team
BY THE BULGING MUSCLES OF THE SUNGLASS MAN! This video has skyrocketed. Thank you all so much. On that note, I just want to let you all know:
- Yusuke VS Toguro is coming. I have a giant project that I want to get done first but it will come one day. Don't you worry.
- All music I used is in the description with links since I got comments asking about that. So please check there.
- Um.....Can't think of a third point...............................Play Skies of Arcadia
When are you making the Yusuke vs Togoro video? I'm eager to see it.
Sensei best antagonist (for me).
Final arc tourney best Tourney for me (because of who and how the #1 was).
Team Toguro were the most hyped and intimidating yes... but Dr. Ichigara and his experiment team were more terrorfying to me. I mean the idea of being trapped in your own body and forced to harm those you love or innocence is far more terrorfying to me.
Jesus Christ is lord. Please take your salvation seriously. Read three books of the Bible. The first book of each testament and one you chose yourself. Please be genuine enough to go that far. Please
@@jamesmayle3787 Non-sequiter?
Your comment seems unrelated to the video... am I missing something?
@@kodytiffany5686 I think he's worried about the demons. To that I say Hail Raizen
Good video, would love to see a video on each fight.
That "cut top episode 33" clip was hilarious
This video needs more love
7:34 oh men i once decided to read the manga, that fight was a massacre
Love the toguro team and younger toguro and bui are my faves. Bui is such a badass and his armor and axe are so amazing plus he fights my fav hiei of the Yusuke team.
Bro same
Tugoru looks like Wesker from Resident Evil but he took way to many plagas 😭🤣
I'm just noticing this for the first time, Karasu has a tiny little pair of glasses attached to his mask. Really takes away from his intimidating vibe lol
I don't think those are glasses. More like a clamp for the mask
Those are way to small to be glasses honestly
@@OtaniNoAsagi whatever it is, it's not a good look lol
When watching the entire series again last week, I noticed that after Yusuke removed the spirit cuffs, his spirit image was that of what eventually became pu. And the fact that it was a so called Phoenix which is a symbol of resurrections, made me realize how Togashi had this all planned from the beginning. Unlike DBZ where everything is all pulled out of their ass.
See, the creator of DBZ did long term plotting, but only to the end of the current arc... mainly because he never actually WANTED to write DBZ for decades. Yeah, secret lore of DBZ, while it was amazingly popular... the creator preferred writing joke mangas... it's why DBZ has so many comedy gimmicks. But he knew he'd get paid well to write it so he did.
Talking shit about dbz is like talking shit about the Beatles. When billions are in love with the something you simply cant deny its greatness without looking like a fool.
@@ShinzoUchihaX does it have flaws? yeah, but...... the real question is: "is it good?".... well... yes.
The Beatles sucked too
@@ShinzoUchihaX or it's like talking sh!t about the Simpsons. It doesn't matter how beloved the series is the criticism as long as it is legit can be levied.
Also you notice how the Z portion is being discussed and not the original Dragon Ball. The Simpsons fell off but wasn't always terrible.
No fucking way i just stumbled on the greatest channel its literally been right there on my feed for weeksssss this guy gets it !!!!!!!!!! I need moreeeeeeeeeeeeee
The buildup for the final match was intense and effective, however, I always found that by the time I get to the actual fight that I am exhausted hallway through the watching because its so long and drawn out especially after the 2 and a half seasons worth of episodes in buildup.
Waiting on that Yu Yu Hakusho reboot, seeing as HxH got one, yu yuy hakusho deserves one
Hello there, everyone! I hope you all enjoy this new video. If you like any of the music used in this, be sure to check the description as all credits with links are listed there. And on that note, All Hail Toguro
You should watch it in Japanese dub. English dub went way too off script. For example it's Suzuki, they changed it to Suzuka.
Oh i love this old anime gotta luv it
