I even made an Action Figure of Dorian Grey a member of my Hellfire Club Inner Circle. 1. Actually comes from Victorian England 2. No Morals 3. Immortal, possible Mutant 4. Has no doubt amassed several fortunes! All of that screams Hellfire Club.
Pretty sure he's the Penny Dreadful figure. So, I have 7 Inner Circle, 7 Hellfire Club Goons, and 3 Reavers. Wish I could have gotten more Goons. But I was still going to stop at 12. Hellfire Club Goons don't regularly fight SHIELD or the Avengers and only occasionally fight X-Men. So I didn't need as many of them as I did Hydra, AIM, and Hand Ninjas.
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE FILMS. I FIRST SAW SHANE WEST OF NIKITA 2011 FAME IN THIS BUT DID NOT CATCH ON AT FIRST. HE PLAYED MICHAEL IN THAT AWESOME SPY SERIES REBOOT.
My only problem with Van Helsing is the girl survives all kinds of fighting and she dies from being thrown onto a soft plushy couch? That shouldn't have given her a bruise considering all the rough things she had already endured. Totally bogus death. She should have been up 2 seconds after she was thrown! I rough-house with my 8 year old Granddaughter tougher than that!
This was one of my favorites growing up. My brother showed it to me and id frequently rent it from the public library after that. I just watched this again a couple of months ago. It still holds up ❤❤❤❤
I also thought this was a great movie and I have watched it many times. I don't understand why people hate on it so much. Great movie with great actors.
This was a great movie. I watched it many, many times. I’m pretty sure that critics spend their time creating headlines by negatively reviewing perfectly good films. Maybe it makes them feel important. It’s almost to the point where if critics pan a film, I’m going to watch it.
Agree with others, I enjoyed this movie - it was a good old fashioned adventure that you could just sit down and enjoy. Loved the characters, Connery was wonderful, and Mina Harker was brilliant. Funny that it was trounced by the critics yet it was better than the majority of the MCU movies that have been released over the past few years!
I think I am most impressed by the powers of Tom Sawyer. It's never explicitly stated in the film, but both he and Alan Quartermain are within a few years of each other age wise. Alan was canonically born in 1830, and while Tom's birth year is never given we know the novel was set in the 1840s. Tom had a romantic interest in Becky Thatcher so likely in his early teens or just before, say 12-14. That would make him born in 1837 at the latest and 1827 at the earliest. This film was set in 1898 so Tom Sawyer is somewhere between 61 and 71 years old. Funny that Mina, who would be roughly 25 (based on the dates given, and the fact that Stoker named days of the week for every date given, Dracula was set in 1893), called him a younger man. Especially ironic considering she is, quite possibly, the youngest member of the league. Dorian is in his early 40s (based on the setting of the novel, and the clues therein), Nemo was 35 in 1868 (the year 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was set) so 65 here. Only the invisible man's age is indeterminate as this version is not the original though the actor was 33. Seriously though, Tom Sawyer looking like he does when he is at least 61 years old means there must be another portrait, with his face on it, floating around somewhere.
You're going by the timeliness of other movies and novels that is not Canon to this movies. Timelines. Honestly a dumb way to look at it. Nina is clearly very old in this movie. Sawyer is a young man. Nemo is the age he looks in the film. You can't take the timeliness of other movies and novels and add them to a movie that has nothing to do canonically with those movies and novels. These character are based off those novels but they are not in the same timeline or cinematic universe as those movies. It's like saying Christian bales batman is the same batman as James west batman so Christian bale in that movie is 130 years old. Makes no fucking sense. 😂
The timeline you are going by for Tom is not the director's timeline. The director talks about it in the commentary (yes I am one of those movie watchers), he goes off of Tom Sawyer detective. This book is from 1896 with Tom and Huck being about 21-23 years old in the book. So in the movie Tom would be 24-26 years old in the movie. Also Huck having died before the movie and that is why Tom had an extra gun.
Still one of the best superhero movies of all time! I will take this over any marvel meh and dc dung. I love this movie so much and its ending is amazing and leaves a very fine good feeling. Really one of the best movies ever ^^.
No one in the comments has brought to light the disturbing coincidences of the smoke and mirrors (order through chaos) club as the antagonists behind all of the shannanigans !
A flawed but fun movie. Some of the changes smooth over Moore's really dark ideas. Way less rape in the movie. Shame the production was so troubled and it never got a sequel.
In a vacuum this movie wasn't bad but when you compare it to the source material it was an abomination. I've kind of grown to appreciate it as I've gotten older (unlike say Starship Troopers) but V for Vendetta and Watchmen were much better adaptations of Moore work. One thing I've noticed over the years is that most of the people I know who like this movie either didn't know it was a comic series or never read it, so they don't know that Moore himself thought the movie was trash.
Do you pronounce quarter like squatter? The way Quatermain is pronounced like squattermain as much as it is Quatermain is distracting and confusing how you can say it one way and then the very next you say it differently like the word is spelled differently. If it wasnt distracting id have watched the whole thing, thanks though
Call me Crazy, but I actually liked this movie. And so did all my friends. Also liked Penny Dreadful which was similar.
Your crazy! Jk I also enjoyed this movie 🎉
So did I. Glad we can come together and prove we're not crazy.

@@BladeStar-uq6xe great idea and super logical. May have to steal that concept

I loved this and Van Helsing. No one seems to like these movies. They were awesome

VAN HELSING IS TOUGH AS WELL.
I like them a lot!

She died from a broken neck in van Helsing. Yes she was a tough character

This movie was 🔥 Sean Connor did his thing. I totally enjoyed this as a kid

I remember this film and in my opinion it's a very underrated movie. Also RIP Sir Sean Connery.
My favorite is captain nemo and Hyde and the invisible man and I also like the vampire lady ❤

This is technically a DC comic, jut before the days of the "universe" comic movie concept.
@@nadtz really they own this ip? I thought it was independent… well i take youre word for it. Doenst change its a very good movie ^^.
I actually liked this movie
I liked this movie! It was a wild fast paced ride!
Mr. Hyde in the comics reminds me of a 19th or early 20th century version of The HULK.
Loved this movie. It was a bit niche but ahead of its time and is seriously a cult classic.
I liked the movie. Thx.
Critics hate the good movies. I mean this, (they didn't hate Van Hellsing but gave it RAVE reviews) Van Hellsing (2004). I mean give us what we want.
Hyde's Comic Variant is holy Crap Beautiful.
I hinestly dont know how this movie didnt get a sequel
I loved the movie.
I always thought putting Tom Sawyer rather than Huck Finn was a mistake of this movie.
In the movie, Dr. Henry Jekyll and Mr. Edward Hyde are BOTH played by actor Jason Flemyng.
One of my favorite movies ❤❤❤
Loved this movie.
No mention of Mr. Hyde raping and killing the Invisible man? The comic is wild.
I wish I was Jared, 19
Loved sean in this movie
Definitely a cult classic
Awesome movie!!
This was a great movie! Fuckin loved it
👍🇦🇺
Mina is the reason i like the kind of girls i like ❤❤❤
My Favorite League Member has to go to Jekyll and Hyde but I like all characters in this film
I rock with Dorian n Rodney
The problem with this movie, IMO, is that it was merely a quite good movie, while the other superhero movies of the time were excellent.
Do one on Excalibur, Please

Shame the production was so troubled and it never got a sequel.
I liked the movie however, the addition of Tom Sawyer as a US government agent? kinda messed up the vibe.🤔
I wonder Which One Of These Movies Was First? This Movie Our The Rocketeer?
The Rocketeer. It came out in 1991. LXG came out in 2003.
A renowned cast consisting of just Sean Connery..... The writing is so AI pre-AI. Let's copy-paste like a toddler and act like it's new and good.

Drop the ai bullshit voiceover

Great movie, too long.
I tried watching this two days ago. It's still unwatchable.
This movie sucked but it also low-key sucked
To @BladeStar-uq6xe Your not crazy, I LOVE this film too!!! :)
