The Jekyll/Nemo conversation was the best scene here. Nemo: “Has Hyde killed?” Jekyll: “He has done every evil a man can do. And my curse: I recall his actions.” Nemo: “I sympathize. My curse: I recall my own.” This was just beautiful.
“Is there anything *I* can do?” “Nothing for now, Jekyll. Don’t worry, *Mr. Hyde* will get his hands dirty.” You have NO IDEA how much that must’ve hurt- COURTERMAIN HOW COULD YOU
In other words... THIS MOVIE HAD THE POTENTIAL TO BE GREAT!!!. Instead we got a choppy half-bake (though still enjoyed) dish. I actually have liked this movie all along, but seeing what it COULD have been makes me internally weep. They basically cut out the soul and threw us the husk.
Oh my God, I searched for those deleted scenes for so long! And I am both excited and furious that they didn't keep them in the movie. Why did they cut them out? Those scenes are great and not pointless at all, if not anything else, they added more depth to some characters. I'm still disappointed that there was no aftermath of the scene when Skinner saves Tom Sawyer from the fire though. I wonder how they got him to Nautilus, severely burnt like this. And after what time he became entirely invisible again? To be honest, I thought he was gonna die and I felt very sad about it, but them he reappeared completely healed at Quatermain's funeral... Considering the medicine in Victorian era, he was probably lucky.
Such a missed opportunity ! Yes, the film butchered the Comics. BUT it's the ego war between the director and Connery that REALLY prevented it from becoming a good ride instead of this painful one...
Tom was a pretty useless character until the end. They should have kept (but re-shot) his "a boy becomes a man" scene after they were betrayed: showing that he was the spirit of the group considering he was the only one young enough to have any left.

@@spooneater9001 - Definitely.
I’ll never forgive them for cutting Jekyll scenes

“Jekyll, c’mon! You’ll need Hyde!”
“No! Hyde will never use me again...”
“Then what good are you?”
I have SEVERAL questions, number one, HOW DARE YOU!
Dorian Grey was a liar, a hypocrite and he scumbag. I am glad Karma got to him. Do evil, and Karma will always catch up to you.

He was burned up but as we could see not enough to be entirely visible...so he probably dident breathe it in.
The character interactions should have stayed.
Such a missed opportunity !

What is the story behind the director and Connery?
@@juliandavidhoffer2022 This more of the fault of the studio and not Norrington or Connery.
@@tedgruver7618 I’m unfamiliar with all of it
@@juliandavidhoffer2022 mostly it was studio pushing for the film to be pg 13 and running out of money.
@@chasityeve very strange
The Clip at 7:28 When The Car gets Flooded is My Favorite 😁 Love That Car BTW 😉😏
That huckleberry finn scene is just.. devastating
Mostly, these cuts made for a better movie. I'm glad I got to see them though.
6:15 - THIS should have stayed in
