    Some people online have said that this device only pushes teeth through the alveolar bone and doesn’t create bone growth. Is this true doc?

      Only if the teeth are put under too much pressure and the appliances are expanded too quickly. It is very rare to see that kind of result

    Im looking into getting treatment with the dna appliance for tmjd and retrognatia, Im in my early 20's and would pay 100% of it by my self
    Im weary of spending that much money on something and it not working, specially when it comes to my health and wellbeing, do you think its a good choice?

    • @SereneOrthodontics
      @SereneOrthodontics  5 років тому +1

      Absolutely. No better investment than one in your health. You should do more research on the DNA appliance and we offer complimentary consultations. For TMD and especially retrognathia, most of your other options vs the DNA appliance involve surgery. Check out our page on the DNA marylandholisticdentist.com/dna-appliance/

    • @SereneOrthodontics

      I love shwartz appliances for certain kids cases. They do not produce bone growth and airway opening predictably in adults. The ALF and DNA appliances have a track record with adults.

      I would love to get the alf or dna but they cost so much and i currently have no dental insurance, not sure if that would ever cover any of the costs. I don’t have bad tmj pain but do mostly always have a headache, eye and jaw tension. I am seeing an upper cervical chiro, and got NCR done but I don’t know what to do. Is it better to use one of these appliances instead of typical tmj splints? And, does the dna unwind cranial distortions too? Which is better and is it okay to see someone trained in ALF but not listed on ther website? Thanks! I also was told i have a tongue tie and thinking i should get that removed, maybe myofunctional therapy

      Kasey I was told the same. I'm going to be having that done in a few months. I think that's the first step. So many problems start from mouth breathing. A correct nose breathing pattern has to be established first. I'm going to do that for 1 year and then re-evaluate which device would be best.

    Hi what is the difference between dna appliance and homeoblock? Which one would you recommend?

    • @SereneOrthodontics
      @SereneOrthodontics  5 років тому +1

      Very similar appliances, but the springs are different and the homeoblock people advocate using more asymmetric bite and elastic movements. The results can be comparable for the appliances. It really comes down to the doc doing the treatment and their experience and skill set. And of course patient compliance.

    Does DNA appliance fix overjet?

    • @SereneOrthodontics
      @SereneOrthodontics  5 років тому

      It can by helping the lower jaw move forward. The case needs to be treatment planned properly. But as an FYI, I do not think any dentist would ever guarantee an over jet correction. One thing is for sure-it will not happen and be stable with just braces.

      @@SereneOrthodontics Is this better than the AGGA that a lot of folks are talking about lately?

    • @SereneOrthodontics
      @SereneOrthodontics  5 років тому +1

      @@jeffbuchanan4213 the AGGA only grows the jaws forward. The DNA grows forward, wider and taller. There are some cases where I would go to the AGGA, but most of the time I use the DNA. One appliance is not better than the other ; just different

    • @jeffbuchanan4213
      @jeffbuchanan4213 5 років тому

      Do the appliances put the same amount of force on the teeth or do they work in a different way to promote forward growth ?

    • @SereneOrthodontics
      @SereneOrthodontics  5 років тому

      @@jeffbuchanan4213 basically the appliance puts a light stretch-like pressure on the teeth. The same pressure is translated to the ligaments that connect the teeth to the jawbones and the jawbones to other bones in the face. The natural movement in the mouth such as tongue pressure cause a springy stimulation responsible for stimulating adult bones to start growing in the direct of the stretch. Note: a stretch is much different and less than and orthdontic force used to move teeth through jawbones.
