    Can you speak on your own experience with DNA appliance? I’ve watched many of your videos and learned that you also had premolars extracted as a child. I believe you also mentioned that you’ve had a couple of rounds of DNA appliance. Can you speak on how each round had worked for you, what your goals are for your jaw, if the results are permanent or do they regress, and if you’ll continue to use the appliance?

    does the retainer you use for retention post treatment cover the top pallate of the mouth? Is it Essix or Hawley? Thanks

    I was listening to a podcast in which a lady spoke about her experience with DNA appliance. She had braces and extractions as a child, as did I. She said that after her treatment with DNA appliance, her jaw expansion regressed back to where it was before she started treatment (within a year). Have you seen this or is this a rare case? I would like to begin this treatment, however, the possibility of jaw growth reversing, worries me because of the cost, time, and effort invested.

      What this means is that the patient did not achieve a stable final result. Bone does not ungrow, but teeth positions can change when the bite isn’t stable. I am sorry this patient’s treatment did not get managed in a successful way. There are many things that need to be managed and treated correctly: proper patient diagnosis,appliance design, proper wear time, proper adjustments by an experienced dentist, post appliance bite stabilization treatment, including possible Myofuntional therapy, tongue and lip tie therapy, possible bite adjustments, teeth restoration/replacement. So many issues. This treatment is complex and has to be completed to a point of stability. I’m going to do a new video about this.

    Hello, I really want to expand my lower and upper palate as an adult age 25 (male). I live in a developing country outside the USA and europe where it is very hard to get a homeoblock or vivos DNA appliance. I visited every orthodonist in the city and no one will do expansion other than surgery at my age. The most cost effective option I have found was to purchase a Schwartz palate expander online wearing it all day and removing it only while eating. I plan on slowly expand it by myself taking all precautions and going slow, turning once per month and observing carefully how my teeth react. Do you think I will achieve expansion as an adult with a Schwartz appliance. thank you in advance. I would be thankful for any advice.

      It is possible. Can you show a picture of the appliances?

      @@SereneOrthodontics I actually ended up contacting an orthodontic laboratory directly and convinced them to manufacture an expander for me. I send them pictures of Vivos DNA appliance and they should make a similar model. The upper will be for both vertical and horizontal expansion and the lower will a horizontal expander similar to the DNA appliance.

    Hello doctor, so I got my Biobloc device from the ortho and the plan is to open the gaps where my premolars were extracted, via expansion. However the issue is that there is no forward screw on Biobloc just lateral expansion at semi rapid rate, 1/16 mm per day. I also use headgear to use at home and at night to push forward.
    My concern is that we only have lateral expansion happening at John Mews rate and no forward expansion (y shaped) ,but ortho keeps insisting that via lateral expansion we will be able to achieve forward also, and gaps forming at the top arch enough for implants. But could this be merely through tipping of teeth rather than movement of the jaw?
    Would you have an opinion on that?
    Regards

      @SereneOrthodontics  Рік тому

      We would’ve used a Y. Also 1/16 per day is too fast. For adults we do 1/4mm per 2-3weeks. Is there a bite plane on the appliance or an area that looks like a night guard?

    • @davsss6406
      @davsss6406 Рік тому

      @@SereneOrthodontics thank you for your reply.i think 1/16mm per day might just flare my teeth and maybe bring them out of bone. And the lack of y-shaped screw pushing forward worries me also. Would you say biobloc can achieve the goals of true skeletal expansion in an adult in 10months without tipping ? I need about 8-9mm expansion. Seems to be too good to be true.... also ortho says that after stage 1 biobloc and initial flaring, in stage 3 teeth will upright with no braces, providing the function of tongue is developed, using forces of lips, and cheeks.. again I find that also too good to be true. Would you have an opinion on that?
      To answer your question , there is no bite plane. Just a standard Biobloc from what I could tell.

    Does this apliance really cuase your bone to grow? I mean because if it does that means that you do not need to wear retainers after treatment like when you use braces right?

    Thanks for this video. It's great to have a simple explanation from a professional about how these devices work.
    When you say it can correct upper jaw asymmetry, is that crossbite, or something else? My 9yo son has a crossbite, and of course the dentist recommends orthodontics, but I'd like to find a better, more holistic solution based on growing his jaw rather than deforming it backwards.

    • @SereneOrthodontics
      @SereneOrthodontics  Рік тому

      these appliances can fix a cross bite if designed properly. Facial asymmetry is more correcting the left-right asymmetry about he midline of the face.

    I just started using the DNA appliance last night. Only used the upper part. I still had apneas. My tongue still collapsed and blocked my upper airway. I was wondering if that's normal on the first night? Thank you in advance.

    • @SereneOrthodontics
      @SereneOrthodontics  Рік тому +1

      The entire point of the appliance therapy is create the structural conditions where the tongue can reach and fit into the palate and maintain proper posture. At the onset of treatment it is very doubtful that an apnea condition will be cured. That being said, many people can find a better tongue posture and suction with appliance in vs out due to the shape of the palatal aspect of the appliance. I am hopeful that your Dr. explained the goals of treatment with respect to the tongue. We recommend tongue exercises (myofunctional therapy) to help improve the tongue function and posture.
