  • This is how to adjust your Vivos DNA appliance during appliance therapy. The DNA appliance is an adult expansion appliance made by vivoslife.com. The appliance is used to treat TMJ problems, sleep apnea and generally is an adult Anterior Growth appliance. These instructions are general instructions on how to adjust your DNA appliance. For specific instructions you should consult your doctor or Dr. Adams if he is you’re treating dentist.
The biggest mistake I find is people adjusting the appliances too quickly. Most cases should be work 10-12 hours per day. And the adjustments should be made every 2-3 weeks. Adjusting the DNA appliance more often is what leads to orthodontic movement instead of bone growth. The appliances should be passive when adjusted. If it is still tight is should not be adjusted. It is also possible that the bottom appliance get adjusted on a different schedule than the top. It all depends on how tight the appliance is. In general the top appliance grows faster and experiences more growth than the bottom.

I really appreciate this demonstration and explanation. It was very helpful, especially since I assumed the adjustments were done while the appliance was in the mouth 😮. I wish I lived within a couple hours of your practice!

We have lots of travelers. Some by airplane. treatment complete usually takes 6 to 9 appointments. The appointments are usually separated by three months. We usually do a phone consultation with x-rays and photos. We provide all the information and the expected cost before you travel.

How often do you take patient x-rays during treatment to ensure the roots are not sufficiently damaged?

We use conservative protocols and never see root damage. We take X-rays at the beginning and end of treatment

I noticed that there are two arrows pointing to the front of the device. Does that mean that there are two adjustment points going forward and only one going sideways?

Good question, but there is one forward and one sideway only.

Sorry we don’t use that MA device. We do use Homeoblock and DNA appliances and they may work. Honestly it’s more the experience and the expertise of the doc who will fix things for you. Good luck

@@SereneOrthodontics So what test would you conduct in order to determine if your patient needed a mandibular advancement device or your homeoblock/DNA appliance ??
Lots of patients mouth breathe during sleep but does that mean they all need an MAD DNA or Homeoblock device ??
