!UPDATE! You can now turn the digital sharpness down on the camera which I think will help the footage look better(I’ll test it out next week). But, this adjustment currently cannot be done through the app, you need to do it through the optional controller. Hoping for an app update to access these settings through the phone.
Just wait, they will add the ai features to higher tier drones too

Why would you assess video quality using UA-cam🤪? It’s a drone for 200 dollars and it will sell by the bucket load as it will be perfect for vloggers and first time drone owners.

@@esoteridactyl have you used it as drone group I'm on all gave negative feedback solely of videos watched only but now people are posting by bucket loads who've now bought the neo I flew it last Sunday with goggles and controller can't fault it at all, name another drone that does this lot you can't imo especially for £169 or £300 for flymore with a controller that usually are £100+ on DJI and it's got built in microphone that cost £300+ alone on DJI and AI tracking that actually tracks and doesn't get confused by another person or car
The fact that you CAN use a radio/FPVheadset with this if you want to is HUGE. I'm DEFINITELY buying one when the release, assuming both options are still in place

GREAT test with tracking and fall, speed and face tracking capabilities. I haven't seen a test like this on YT. It shows the great AI capabilities of this little drone.
The fact that at the end of the video just wandering along without filming you, no selfie stick in sight to me means it's great. And recording the sound too! Awesome. I'm getting one. Just need to find some spare money!

I’m so glad gene said something about wanting the neo smart features in a mini 4, I hope that the mini 5 pro will be a hybrid of the Neo and the mini series with the same sensor as the pocket 3 with 4K 120. It would be a game changer. You could have a couple pocket 3’s and essentially a flying pocket 3 and have everything you would need to make a reasonably high quality UA-cam show

So much potential for version 2 here! This would've gained universal praise with an OSMO Action 4 sensor.

@@positivegroove Image quality is not all about resolution. Compression, colour science/sampling and dynamic range are as important if not more.
Too all the people complaining about image quality, the best drone is the one you have with you.

With the cost of some of those toy drones on the market that frustrate the end user into giving up the hobby, the DJI Neo is a game changer. It's definitely going to grow the drone recreational community. Don't forget to take the FAA TRUST exam folks.
It does have sharpness control with today's FW and DJI Fly update, imo for a 199 flying camera it's more than decent. I wish it had 2.7K60 option to have a better compromise between video quality and low latency when using goggles, other than that I love it and it's gonna be perfect for my son so I can keep my Avata 2 for myself 😄
could you do a test with sharpness at 0?

Can I use the motion controller 3 without the goggles?
@@JohnSmith-ef8nr no, RCM3 just like FPVRC3 links only to Goggles 3, and Goggles 3 links to aircraft and forwards RC signal to it.
Thanks, Potato Jet! This drone is perfect for someone like me who wants to own a drone but doesn't know how to fly one, lol. However, the obstacle avoidance feature could use some improvement, especially when it comes to navigating around obstacles.
Update: Just ordered! This is why GoPro will eventually be a Business Class case study. How a company lost their way to a company that innovates… takes risk and grows! It’s called, make something your customers want! I want it! Fills a void! Great job DJI!

This is the drone I've been waiting for. I honestly just want the cool shots without the need to learn to fly a drone. Once they add collision avoidance in version 2, it'll be THE drone to get for the general public.
Okay, that Hover air drone is pretty much done now. And not because the first neo is perfect. But think about it the third one will be more expensive but likely be pretty darn good. Looking forward dot it haha
This is really pretty cool and I agree, seeing this tech in a larger drone would be amazing... What really blows my mind, is we probably will see the tech "trickle up" as opposed to the normal "trickle down" path that normally happens.
While the video quality is really not up to par. Can we talk about how it can differentiate between the original pilots face and a different person? That’s incredible!

Awesome job. So creative. Most people don't realise how plastic your mind has to be to create such an inspirational review. The possibilities for creativity with this drone are mind boggling.
I can absolutely imagine the Neo Pro coming out next year. The same drone with the same sensor as the Mini 4 Pro with 10 bit DLogM, more manual camera options, slightly longer flight time, still well under 250 grams. That would be epic.
It is indeed fantastic to see how many way there are to control this drone, unlike some drones in the past. Whereas with the spark it was possible to fly it FPV with the DJI Goggles, with the DJI Mavic Mini it suddenly turned out not to be possible.
I feel like this is going to be my very first drone 😮

Doesn’t make any sense camera on gimbal since it has fpv design. Basically it would kill the FPV feature and it will become a DJI mini mini 😂

They need to do a "Neo Pro" lmao with maybe a slightly better image processor or even sensor and at least a customisable colour profile, even if it's just 8 bit and not log, but at least contrast, saturation and sharpness. You know, things that cheap digi cams had 25 years ago.
This is actually pretty sick, I can see this taking off for solo adventure bloggers especially with the phone mic recording, like at 12:30 style of vlogging. Quality not the best, but certainly good enough for a solo vlog style.
But the quality is painfully not worth it. A mini/se is likely the better version
@@Das644 I feel like it could still be, it's $300 AUD which is like nothing, it's half the price of most action cameras, and if all you do is social media content then most of your audience probably isn't going to care/notice that much, but they will notice the upgrade from a selfie stick to drone footage. I get that a mini/se is better bang for buck, but I feel it defeats the main purpose of the neo. When I had a drone and was hiking the thought of, unpacking, unfolding, pulling the remote out, connecting it, etc. often prevented me from getting it out for quick shot situations. Which I know sounds lazy, but I love any device that reduces friction, it's why I use my phone to record so much, I can take it out and hit record, it's not the best quality, but it's better than not recording. I think this fits into a potential little niche of amateur non-drone users, solo vloggers, and general public, who want some different shots without any hassle. Any non-amateur youtuber/video maker would already be looking to another drone most likely.

Cool they decided to compete with the HoverAir X1 I bought last year. It works basically the same way. I may have to switch over to the DJI Neo! Can you compare the two? There is a HoverAir Pro Max coming out too.

the ecosystem of dji is insane. Everthing functions with everything. And on top of it, the software is crazy impressive with such limited hardware.

Even if it's 720, 200 for what most vloggers want for their quick setups shots. It's supper specific, but perfect for alot of entry vloggers and wannabe content creators.😅

I watched this video on a 4K projector with a 120" screen, sitting about 10' from the screen, and it is crystal clear and I didn't feel the image was over sharpened. It looked incredibly good.

It's 360 camera quality. Cool budget offering. I can't see any reason at all to use this vs my mini 3 pro.
Me neither. 😅i would use a 360 just because the wind is never an issue and people feel less attacked but it doesn't go as high ofcourse
Sometimes the best camera you can use is the potato that you can fly without a controller. I like the one button press to get a quick vid.
I have the Avata 2 and Mini 4 pro, I'm more excited about getting the Neo though as it dosent need a controller and records sound.
