  • Hello Sub2club
    Meet Chris and Son at Formula S,
    I have previously interviewed Son with his formula S S2000, but had to go back and check out their shop's new GR86 platform. This is another longer video but I appreciate every little details of this build! And really appreciate Son and Chris for sharing the blazing fast 1:53 lap time recipe. This, of course, involves amazing driving by Son. Hope Formula S continues to make great progress with this car and perhaps follow up when #sub150 is reached!
    Check out their website and if you watch the entire video, there may be some perks for all you s2000, GR86 owners in SoCal!

    Genuinely appreciate all of you for watching the videos and subscribing to the channel!

    I accidentally edited out chris’s comment “sway bar is the last thing we do.” Putting emphasis on good shocks. Hope you guys enjoy the video!

    Nice GR86! Was surprised it was in the 53 sec range, but at 2550 lbs with 235 whp, it makes sense. Interested to see how much faster you can go with a relatively simple build.

      I think there are few 1:58-59 range cars with just tires/wheels and brakes pads, (possibly w/ coilover). I believe son ran 58s with that setup. But yes, pretty simple setup doing 53s already.. Seems to be a solid platform!

      @@Sub2club I did my best, lol. Access is pretty tricky. I even got some thin stubby wrenches and hit the handles with a hammer and still had them back off. I resorted to blue loctite and i think that kept them in place. We'll see if they ever move again tho. 😅

    Hey! I love amber side markers! Funny enough in Japan it’s becoming popular to swap to US ambers

      I think it depends on what color paint you have. I like the amber on pavement grey but any other color I would go with clear I think

    The box in back is the amp for the rear speakers. I believe you can remove it and still get power to the front speakers. Also, is that a Zest wheel setup? Love the build!

    Where can I find Apex parts? Do you mean Apexi? I have the dry carbon Varis hood. It is lighter, but only a few pounds. Same with the carbon roof. Mainly purchased the hood for cooling with forced induction and looks good.

    • @Sub2club
      @Sub2club  5 місяців тому +1

      Christopher, where did we mention Apex? It would most likely have been Apexi, unless we were talking about apex wheels?

      @@Sub2club The headers and exhaust. I have a titanium exhaust. I'm still looking for headers, front pipe/overpipe for harrop supercharger. Wondering if titanium headers would crack. Basically looking for lightest possible as the supercharger will add weight to the front of the car. Catless would be deafening with my exhaust, but catted headers would be restrictive. So hard to choose a combo. Just wondering what you went with or recommend. Thanks
