    You are on the right track ...
    1. There is no power pocket. Everything just moves.
    2. There is no rotation, don't try to rotate, just move your weight and the disc forward.
    Your insights are 2 fold:
    1. Don't over rotate the shoulders. Form the position of your "power pocket" the shoulder rotation (to drive the disc) should stop. They then rotate again in the follow through.
    There is some rotation, but from the power pocket to the release the hand needs to be moving faster than the shoulders.
    2. Delay the throw. You establish a coil with the back swing, which should peak when your front foot, the heel, hits the ground. Shift your weight to the front foot, then throw.

      Thanks for the comment. I have watched a lot of disc golf videos to know quality is what keeps me coming back for more content. Thanks again.

      Take it nice a slow and pick a target that is short. 150 - 200 feet. This will allow you to focus on the technique. It doesn't have to be extreme and slight variations should help.

    This is something that I have not seen explained anywhere before and this was missing from my throw. Thank you so much!
    Now I can put the whole throw into words and I think what happens in every part of the throw.

      Thanks for the comment, this is a good start but I also just put out a recent video that has helped me gain some good distance with less power. It has changed my game. I hope this helps with your throw.

      @@let_it_fly_dg I did watch it (first) but I think this was better for me.
      What I got from this was in line what I had learned before. The main point: different parts start and stop in sequence:
      - First lower body starts moving (weight shift)
      - Lower body stops
      - Arm goes to position 1
      - Torso starts moving (rotation)
      - Arm in position 2
      - Torso stops
      - Arm starts moving
      - Arm stops
      - Disc flies

    I tend to have this happen more naturally on shorter putter drives and upshots. I’m trying to be more relaxed and throw softer and it actually comes out quite a bit hotter than expected! Rotational speed is not to be overlooked!

      Thanks for the comment. I agree, when you think you are loose enough, it almost seems like you can still be looser. We are looking for an easier throw and not strength.

    I have that early rotation problem + slight rounding still, so I'm all about any new tips. Ill try it out!

      Maybe I will cover rounding pretty soon. I used to have this habit but the feel versus real is real.

    Interesting thought... I watched the 2024 Swedish open finals and was noticing Roland Kuor's drive on the first hole. If you put it in slow motion you can really see what you are describing here. The disc just ejects out in such a dramatic fashion... I will def be tinkering with this concept.

      Let me know how it goes. We focus so much on the power pocket. While it is important, we don't want to look past this important position.

    Subscriber 157. Good stuff man. When you’ve got 50k subs I’ll have evidence that I was in the first 200. 😊 But seriously, good stuff and production value.

    I noticed in that video of Simon he dosent even reach back until his plant foot touches the ground like his pull is last min

    • @let_it_fly_dg
      @let_it_fly_dg  26 днів тому

      I love Simon's form, for him, it is a timing thing. If you watch him throw technical shots, he does the thing with his reach back but he also gives it a bit of a stomp with his plant foot to initiate the throw. Timing can be tough but once you get a good swing path, it takes time to dial it in. Thanks for the feedback.

    RIght throw looks better - 'deeper' into the pocket and more rotation before sending it out.

    • @let_it_fly_dg
      @let_it_fly_dg  Місяць тому

      Yes, but I have been experiencing something lately without a deeper pocket. Check out my new video and try it yourself. I find myself throwing further now with less power and not incorporating a deep pocket. It is getting interesting to see the difference in distance and control. Let me know how to new video works out for you.

    People should worry less about power pocket, and worry more about rounding.
