I have heard a lot of versions of this song and BY FAR, by VERY VERY FAR THIS is the BEST ONE. The emotion and way this duo glides around the notes and scale, its pure beauty, thanks you for sharing this and please keep making wonderful music!!
Hammered Dulcimer and Harp are both instruments I've wished I could afford for some time to learn. Getting to both see and hear them to together was astounding. I'm also incredibly drawn to look into flute as well now. The finesse of each of these instruments is so incredibly inspiring! Thank you for this video.
Moved me to tears! I find this instruments so magically, especially the Dulcimer. When he started to drift into the world of notes, I was in awe. Amazing work!
The lyrics: I was down the glen one Easter morn To a city fair rode I There armed lines of marching men In squadrons passed me by No pipe did hum, no battle drum did sound it's loud tattoo But the Angelus Bells o'er the Liffey swells rang out in the foggy dew Right proudly high in Dublin town Hung they out a flag of war 'Twas better to die 'neath that Irish sky Than at Sulva or Sud el Bar And from the plains of Royal Meath Strong men came hurrying through While Brittania's huns with their long range guns Sailed in through the foggy dew Their bravest fell and the requiem bell Rang mournfully and clear For those who died that Eastertide in the Springing of the year While the world did gaze with deep amaze At those fearless men but few Who bore the fight that freedom's light Might shine through the foggy dew And back through the glen I rode again And my heart with grief was sore For I parted then with valiant men Whom I never shall see n'more But to and fro in my dreams I go And I kneel and pray for you For slavery fled oh glorious dead When you fell in the foggy dew
You all probably dont give a damn but does anyone know of a method to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid forgot the login password. I love any assistance you can offer me!
Thank you both for this beautiful, heartfelt, elegant music. You didn't use your skills to dominate the music. Instead, you gave it its due, and set it free, to sing and be. Thank you.
My DM played this is beautiful song in the background of our D&D game when we went to my character's hometown, which was cursed by a vampire and full of fog, we didn't know that at the time, just saw the suffering in the mist with this amazing music setting the tone. So atmospheric. Also, my character plays dulcimer so extra fitting haha ;)

If you want to learn Irish music like this and stay within an average budget, pick up an Irish Tin Whistle, you won't be dissapointed
With tin ears, 10 thumbs and any other musical handicaps, I live in envy.
also mandolin, Irish banjo, Appalachian dulcimer, lute, pan flute...

The lyrics:
I was down the glen one Easter morn
To a city fair rode I
There armed lines of marching men
In squadrons passed me by
No pipe did hum, no battle drum did sound it's loud tattoo
But the Angelus Bells o'er the Liffey swells rang out in the foggy dew
Right proudly high in Dublin town
Hung they out a flag of war
'Twas better to die 'neath that Irish sky
Than at Sulva or Sud el Bar
And from the plains of Royal Meath
Strong men came hurrying through
While Brittania's huns with their long range guns
Sailed in through the foggy dew
Their bravest fell and the requiem bell
Rang mournfully and clear
For those who died that Eastertide in the
Springing of the year
While the world did gaze with deep amaze
At those fearless men but few
Who bore the fight that freedom's light
Might shine through the foggy dew
And back through the glen
I rode again
And my heart with grief was sore
For I parted then with valiant men
Whom I never shall see n'more
But to and fro in my dreams I go
And I kneel and pray for you
For slavery fled oh glorious dead
When you fell in the foggy dew
For their hanging men and women for the wearing of the green.
