@Thawne1338leaking top secret information is government prison for life. There is a reason for security classifications and clearances. That information can put the country, people, and property in grave danger. He is basically a traitor to the country and should be hung for his stupidity. If he is lucky he will get like 15 years and never be able to hold a clearance of any type and government job again. Plus a dishonorable discharge on top of that. Leaking general troop deployment plans and random lists of foreign agents just to show off your military clearance level? That's both more impactful *and* more braindead :D
But in general it's also highly amusing, because it showcases exactly why Critical Thinking and general intelligence are key qualities any government needs to further, not try to hinder.

That being said leaking any documents with a security clearance is a grave crime, even if said documents aren't that much of a value. This isn't about control or anything vague like that; this is about US security, and I'd have no moral issues if he was sentenced for life. He had a choice to stop working at any point in time.

@Thawne What he did is legally worse than those things in some ways. It's technically Treason, or something very similar to it.
No one has to physically get hurt or no computer hacked for this.
It's an oath law. Like perjury where you swear to tell the truth "and the whole truth so help you God"
Except in this case you swear to "defend the constitution and the United States of america from all enemies foreign and domestic" ect ect
By giving out this information, he not only betrayed his country, but helped his countries enemies.
      That's why it Treason.
And again, there's no arguing over the "degree" of it, or how severe the damage was. You might be tempted to say "oh but the information wasn't that big of a deal....surely our enemies knowing that couldn't hurt that much.."
      Doesn't. Matter. At. All.
If something as harmless "who is Natman2939's favorite waifu?" is listed as TOP SECRET and put into a file and you gain access to that file, whether by breaking into it or because your job gives you the clearance to look at it, and you turn around and say "His favorite waifu is Saber from Fate!" in public to anyone who doesn't have Top Secret clearance, you've just committed Espionage (spying) and arguably Treason.
The penalties for which are extremely severe (which is why I started off by saying this is legally worse than murder. You can murder someone and get less than 20 years depending on the circumstances but Treason is supposed to be a death sentence and Espionage is something close to that)

It is more funny that the US defense hired a 21 year old Minecraft sh*t poster with high security clearance, let that sink in.

I mean if Joe Biden can have classified documents in his unsecured garage while not being allowed to have them why not have them on a mincraft discord?😂

Fun fact: Jack was the IT Guy, thats why he had clearance. Not because he had big dick energy as a badass but because he did the one thing all IT guys, including myself, are tempted every day NOT to do: Use our privilege access for our benefit.
Jack doesn't believe in great power, great responsibility so now he is going in to forever box and i for one think he deserves it VERY MUCH if not straight up execution for the sheer damage he has caused to the world during this incredibly tense times

@@wsak5991 absolutely not. Its extremely poor form to snoop in a system you are giving maintainance, doubly so if it is a government site since you can get espionage charges for that and those dont fuck around.
You get a decade in the forever box PER Secret leaked so...yeah

@@oh-noe just one example: because it has been made public that china was secretly planning to send weapons to russia, now the u,s will be forced to public sanction them or lose standing with its own allies. And thats just one of the obvious examples, i bet someone with more nuance of geopolitics will find more.

It is funny and crazy, but this is proves a scary thing. USA and Pentagon are playing RTS live right now and the troops are Ukranian who are dying by the thousands. I mean there is no denying this, it is USA playing RTS and choosing Ukraine as a faction.
