It makes me sad that in my 700+ hrs, I still haven't encountered the Preston Garvey impersonator.
It was my first encounter
I got him in front of the Irish Shipyard.
He's been in every plattheough for me Anderson station area last time. I ordered preston in full suit of t51 to murder him.

Concept is awfully depressing and i love it, denial is basically part of their programming- you can tell they werent prepared to function in the end of the world.

Poor Codsworth... Once he got to the part about the futility of polishing a rusting car, I really began to see the fact(in my personal opinion) that robots or synths are absolutely sentient and dealing with the factions of the game was basically decided from that point on

There is another mr gutsy encounter that tells you that chinese infiltrators could be anywhere, the perfect response;

They laughed at my outfits.
They ran from my Gatling Laser.

It's always been a problem with Bethesda games. We get it that they try to sound like they're one upping you and making you look like nothing when you start out.
But you'd think a company could had learned to program NPCs to respect you better late game, especially when a single raider walks up to you and see you in full power armor and enough weapons to nuke Diamonds City...
Instead, he walks up to you with his shitty pipe pistol and goes... "Yeah, I can take this guy on."

Well I'm on my way back to a Settlement, to off-load/sell my goods.
Since I have a habit of sneaking around at night. (Do to that park that gives that gray night vision, well sneaking)
Gives you a hint of horror, to the game. Assuming your sneak is high enough, the Death-Claw will keep walking around almost like it's stalking you...
I do the same thing. Once, I was being a stealthy boi. My stealth boy wore off and, the deathclaw Just, stood there...
One time in Fallout 76 a Deathclaw started attacking me so I killed it, and when I killed it for whatever reason, a bounty was put on my head.

Sometimes I find 2 death claws fighting near sanctuary hills. So I put in what I call a watchtower, it concrete blocks 3 blocks wide, 2 long, 6 high with turrets on top. I will snipe 1 of the DC and entice them to watch tower for some fun. The watchtower is offset to main walls in middle of river at extreme north east of settlement boundary with a walkway from main walls so don't have to go to ground while patrolling the walls.

I prefer the fake Preston... you should've had a quest where you can make a deal with fake Preston to replace the real Preston with the promise he will never mark settlements on your map. Extra dialogue would've had people in Sanctuary Hills commenting that something is different about Preston, like when TV show gives a wink to an actor change of a long time character

@@arachnesakura9375 far from it. Seems a lot of people are arguing over what the specific reference is. Most people tend to think bioshock so you are the opposite of alone. Not sure if it was arrogance that made you think you were different for seeing something literally hundreds of thousands of people saw in the same exact way.

I noticed on an older video you saw a sleep walking note and were puzzled because there wasn’t anyone in the house.
In my game, when I left the Old Sinkhole, I had a dead raider at the bottom of the steps that looked like they had a broken neck.
I ran into a second random encounter referencing the sleep walker. Apparently they moved up on top of an overpass in a little shack. You find a note mentioning worrying about sleepwalking while so high up and that they need to remember to lock the door. You find the body of a dead settler on the ground below.

I don't remember how I handled the Stash/Lexa/Simon story in my game, but I found Lexa's body at the camp random encounter near Abernathy Farm.
I don't know if this will be viewed, but on the way to Kellogg I saw two deathclaws fighting each other. I finished their fight.

As buggy a mess this game can be and as lackluster the story was, this one is EASILY the most fun of them all for me. That is why I love this game. I never know what bizarre thing I’m gonna find next and I love it
And next thing you know Preston gives you a radiant quest he hasn't given you before.
Bethesda is good when it comes to this

I have more than 1200 hours in Fallout 4 and I've NEVER met the fake Preston Garvey. I'm kinda sad about that.

On one of my accounts I have 3672 hours of Fallout 4 I basically have 8 sets of xo1 power armor sets I basically have over 4 sets of every single power armor and about every single gun upgraded to the Max I have over 200, 000 caps every single compound the Raiders can never complete the attacking of the compound because all my defense and all the people at my compound have powerful guns and amor hey try to beat that

For me my somewhat favorite random encounter is the named ghouls that attack you.
There is also for me i saw two legendary alpha deathclaws fighting each other.
The named ghouls are your pre-war neighbors whom you see as you and your spouse are heading up to Vault 111. Check it out the next time you start a new game-- they have the same names.
Of course, since I've come across this encounter many times, it stops making sense after the first encounter, but that's Bethesda for you.

I see you added the double deathclaw encounter into your comment since I replied. I've seen that one, too, though in my case, they weren't legendary. I was walking along the road in Far Harbor near the Eden Meadows Cinema and saw them fighting over a Fog Crawler corpse. I said to myself, "Yeeeeah, imma steer clear of that." Unfortunately, I didn't get to see which one was the victor because the game crashed the moment I finished saying that. When I returned to the spot, it gave me a swarm of bloatflies instead.
