Great video, Tess. I've been diagnosed with shoulder arthritis, and these stretches/exercises will be a big help. I have very limited internal rotation, so the "behind the back" is very, very hard for me, especially with the right arm. I'll just have to do the best I can and work slowly to get better. Thanks again.
Mid-thirties hit like a truck, but I wouldn't have thought I'd need these exercises already at 40. They're working great though. Definitely will come back to this until I know them by heart. The hardest one for me is getting my hand behind my back. Also, thanks for keeping the video short and having chapters 👍
Hi, just wanted to let you know you're not alone. Just turned 41 and have been struggling with OA for a decade now. It's a challenge. I know I have to listen to my body but that's easier said then done when you're young and full of energy.
Wow im glad to know it's not just me at 41 whos been diagnosed so young. Hopefully someday there may be a prevention discovered. Have either of you found anything to help as I've been told not much can be done, will try steroid injections if my insurance covers it.
This video is great timing since I was just diagnosed with osteoarthritis and biceps tendonitis in my shoulder, which was dislocated about ten years ago and separated in high school. I hope to avoid having surgery or shoulder replacement. The exercise with the hand behind the back causes pain in the front of my shoulder so I will forgo that one.
Hi Tess, thanks for this video. How many reps should you do and how often do you recommend doing this set of exercises on a daily/weekly basis please? Thanks
Thank you for watching and for the question. Typically building up to 2-3 sets of 10-15 reps can be a good goal. It is ok to start with less sets and reps. Depending on time available, 2-3 times per week to daily can be helpful.
Hi Seoh, the excerises in this video are predominantly for range of motion. Here is a video with exercises to build shoulder and arm strength ua-cam.com/video/CmFdw4p8l-s/v-deo.html
Ive been diagnosed with early onset osteo arthritis at 41, in my left shoulder, Glenhumeral joint. In gutted as it has reduced my ROM and I cant build muscle as well now. Ive been told i wont ever get full ROM, theres no point in physio and to take painkillers and train through any pain as I cant make it worse. Basically until im ready for a full replacement in about 20 yrs theres not much i can do. Oh I can try steroid injections, they may help, so thats some hope. May try some of this exercises and keep adapting my weight training around the pain.
Good video. Please do a video for thoracic arthritis/spondylosis. I am a 61 yr old female and have aching and burning in this area. The burning really gets intense at times making me feel like I’m having a heart attack! Nothing significant shows up on MRI as the cause. Neurosurgeon sent me to PT, but not much help. Received 2 cortisone/Marcaine injections 3 mos part. Got 6 mos relief from the 2nd one. But hoping I can decrease pain with some quick exercises.
Hi Tanya, great question. To begin with the aim is to complete reps within pain tolerance, not to increase pain from resting. Building up to 2-3 sets of 8-12 reps is typically a good aim.
Thank you for the comment Kevin. What have you tried so far? Here are a few video's that may be helpful. ua-cam.com/video/9sC3K-BjIhk/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/_u6nrfmb3lA/v-deo.html

Thanks for watching Gareth. Typically 1-3 sets of 8 - 12 reps a few times a week, however it can also depend on exercise tolerance and pain levels.
