      Thanks Kenny. It’s too bad Minnesota doesn’t have hot springs. They sure are worth whatever it takes to get to. Especially when they have backdrops like this one does!
      Yeah, I figured leaving the rant in there would be good for everyone. Painting a picture where life is perfect on my channel is disingenuous. I want to keep my channel as real as possible, and struggles/frustration are just a part of that!

      @@downbytheriver501 Back in the day Mandi and I would sneak into a resort near by to use the hot tube during the winter months. Eventually they caught onto us and started requiring key cards to get into the spa facility. I wish Minnesota had some Natural hot springs. I have never experienced one....yet.

    I have tried sooooo many different ways to cook homemade pizza and I found using 80% Mozzarella and 25% ROMANO cheese is the game changer!! Its sort of smells bad cold, but once its cooked into the pizza it compliments everything perfectly!! You should try it sometime. As for the rant.....trust me brother I feel the same ways you do, over weight, balding, middle aged, lacking personable skills and story tellings abilities to produce videos that people want to watch. I hate that UA-cam is like that, I sometimes roll my eyes at some creators that have cinematic music playing while they overlay them whispering inspiring BS on their videos and people eat that crap up!! That's why I like your channel because its real!! I feel like channels like ours will take some time to build up to the point of making a living off of them but dont stop doing what you're doing!! Your life might seem frustrating and mundane at times but trust me the majority of people out there would trade you places in a heartbeat!! Anyways keep up the good work and try that cheese!! lol
    P.S. Buy a diesel heater!! Ill be installing one like 2 videos from now (cheap dry heat that you can run 24 hours a day to keep your rig dry and warm) they use less than 1 gallon of diesel to run 24 hours and almost no battery usage!!

    • @downbytheriver501
      @downbytheriver501  2 роки тому +2

      I hear you on the Romano cheese. Sometimes I’ll add about 5% into the cheese mixture of either that or Asiago/Parmesan but gotta be careful because it’s a very power flavor and can overpower the whole pizza if you add too much! As far as personable skills, I find myself able to converse very easily with almost anyone, but when I’m alone and talking to a camera, it’s difficult to roll that over since it’s essentially a one way conversation and I rely heavily on the “two way street” that most conversations present.
      As far as the creators with the cinematic music with dialogue…it really depends on what they’re talking about. I totally agree with you if it’s superficial. I don’t like fake rhetoric. That’s best left to the politicians and car salesman.
      I’ve actually spent the last 4 days up on the boulder batholith boondocking and totally meant to make a video about it, since I’m basically out of material at this point…but I’m dealing with a nasty back injury and the thought of doing anything but laying in bed makes my back hurt. Kinda sucks too because this area is a nice spot that I’d love to show all of you.
      Oh well. Gotta prioritize getting better before I can make anymore vids.
      It’s been a rough year so far!
      Take care man

      @@downbytheriver501 same here!! I can talk till I’m blue in the face with people but it’s hard on camera alone!! I always figured that eventually I would get to know my audience more and it would get easier but that’s probably not true lol. Well hopefully you start feeling better and look into those diesel heaters!! It might help ur voice and ur moisture issues. I bought the cheaper Chinese version $150, for my truck camper and plan to buy the more expensive American version $1300, for my fifth wheel so I can rely on a lot less generator usage. I heard very good reviews on both the heap and expensive ones.

    • @downbytheriver501
      @downbytheriver501  2 роки тому +1

      The batteries are done for, unfortunately. They will only last a day after a full charge. I’m hoping to make it the rest of this winter limping along until I can figure out an upgraded battery bank and system with lithiums instead. It was my plan to do that after these ones bit the dust, just have to accelerate the plan now.
      Yeah, I’ve been looking into diesel heaters. Integrating it into my current forced air system and finding a spot for the fuel container is my biggest hurdle currently.

    GPS Coordinates please on the pizza. Have you considered a Plat-Cat? It’s vented and thus produces less moisture in the camper. Thanks for your candor and sharing the reality of the full-time RV lifestyle. Your channel is refreshingly real and that’s rare. Now work all you need. UA-cam success will come. Just keep on avoiding blowing sunshine around like so many other creators do. BTW I love your channel as you’ve probably gathered by now. And, I’ll find my own hot springs thanks very much!🤘

    Don't sweat the small stuff or you will drown. Very few people do well alone for very long. They start focusing on the problems instead the positive things. And before you know it, in their own minds', a mole hill becomes an insurmountable mountain.

    From your first photos you were taking with your other pups, I have loved your eye and respect for Mother Nature! Your knowledge of the great outdoors is priceless. There is a guy I think your mom knows from the Ely area who has become a licensed guide to take people into wildlife areas for day tours. Have you considered something like that? I know many photographers like me, not as adept at wilderness travel, would pay for a guide to beautiful locales. Just a thought to send your way. Some of my favorite social media people don’t fall into anyones “good looks” categories, but they have another factor that draws all of us average people in…that’s character and openness. You possess those characteristics. You are real and you are not playing a part. People will be drawn to that. Hope your voice heals up soon! Keep up the amazing work, and don’t compare yourself to others! When you are on a unique path, it won’t be comparable. Hugs!

    • @downbytheriver501

      Thanks for those kind words. In a lot of ways I’d love to be a guide. But I am not really specialized enough in those areas to take on that responsibility. Let alone I am fat and out of shape! I can change that, though. And yep, I absolutely love being able to explore as much as I do. Although my bank account fluctuates greatly due to my prioritization of exploration over financial stability. Oh well. If I die tomorrow, I can’t take that money with me and at least I got to have a lot of fun before the inevitability of my mortality came to a close.

    Great video Bud! You honesty is what I love about your video, not to mention the great scenery!! Do you have an onboard generator? Is your Honda generator a 2200? Why didn't you go with a dually instead of a SRW? How is your weight on a SRW (2018, 14000 gvrw)? Sorry for all the questions, get healthy, be safe!

Didn’t go with a dually because I bought the truck before I knew I was going to be able to transition to this lifestyle. I weigh in at 12,200 without water. Max GVRW is 12,400. Thanks for watching!
