Awesome that you're still making videos! I started watching your videos with your old r6 review when you had a 636 as a teenager, I was on a 50 and then a 125. I recently passed my full license here in the UK and seeing you're still on UA-cam has made my day! Stay safe 🏍
oh man it hurts seeing you try this in slip 9...maybe you know this now but slip 1 gives you the least traction control but regardless turning it off is probably best in sand
That's one of the major reasons guys burn clutches on these bikes..... lose drive on a high slip setting and then they start feathering the clutch at high RPM to get drive on the back wheel.
I think the great advantage of the T7 and 790 is that you can ride them for 6 hours (or days!) to get to the place where you want to off road - im not so keen on doing that on a smaller enduro
You have it back to front. Suffer a little on the highway [ the easiest place ] then have a great time on a light bike in the dirt. Heavy bikes off road is just joyless....
I have to agree that smaller bikes are much better for off road. It depends how far you have to travel to get there and with the T7 and 890 I'm really only talking about gravel tracks so perhaps not what is really Off Road single track through the woods stuff.
Good ride mate. Did the same dirt track as you guys but in the opposite direction with a heap of KTM fanboys a few months ago. Where you lost power because of the traction control one of the boys I was riding with had a stack. Keep it up. Looking forward to seeing the 500 in the desert too
Turns out sand is tough, very challenging for my first time. I ended up getting the hang of it and set my 790R up with all settings on 'offroad' and turned on traction control to ~2 I was able to keep a pace of 50 - 60km/h but got the better of me the next day when I was thrown over the bars at this speed
The turning things back on after stopping the engine are required by law in europe. Safety reasons. That‘s why the dongle exists and if inserted, the display says „illegal“.
Good to see mate's back into the adventure riding and Brendan back on the WR250R. What was the result of that mechanical issue his bike had a year or so ago? Keep the videos coming and looking forward to seeing the 500 EXC.
Top tip for you Tom. Dry rub the steak let sit for 30-1hr to warm a bit before cooking. Thermo it and take it off at 62 or 63C. Perfection at home or camping!!! Kriega sizing noted!!!
You are hating on the traction control but you got it in 9, that is full blowing block... like, the bike just blocks everything... try 1 or 2 the next time and you will have more luck... even tho, you are lucking to be moving forward with slip in 9...
TC in loose sand ain't weird. It's just plain wrong. Turn it off. Your wrist is the right control. Every time you turn off the bike, you need to turn off TC. Way to go Ktm .....Btw. Would you have better flow in the deeper sand if you carried higher speed going into it? You know, as much speed as it takes to get the feeling you a flowing on top of the sand? I get that the bike is heavy, but often relaxing a bit and give the bike room to move beneath you actually helps settling the bike. And stop spooking the birds.

The idea of sleeping outside in Aus with all those animals that like to bite, sting, poison, and kill you all of which can end up in your boots by morning doesn't strike me as fun. I absolutely agree. But, the newer 701's do have rider aids/modes. You can turn it all off though, and don't even have to do it each time you get on the bike. They remember your last settings now.
