Cheap, cheap, cheap looking and I have yet to see them look flattering on anyone (model or not). I can just see several years from now all the stylist saying to stop wearing them because they cut the leg off (they do), look like flood pants (because they do), and are not flattering (because they are not).
My style is comfortable and tshirts fit that perfectly. I have many tshirts with logos and I love them. Maybe I will eventually wear just plain tops but for now ,I’m not ready to give up my goofy tshirts.
@@shoppingonchampagne have you ever done a video about the number of certain clothing items that one would want to have or maybe how much is too much of any certain item?
I agree on every bit. While I don't like florals, they can be classy. I wore cold shoulder in 1993, one time. And have hated them ever since. I feel like they look cheap. Better ways to do a bare shoulder look.
Ha, I just bought the tracksuit from 32° last year because they looked warm and comfy, and we were driving south and the winter to get to Florida. I thought it would be great to ride in the car while we were in the cold north still. Not even a year old yet so they will be worn for a long time. I guess I’ll just not look very trendy, I’m OK with that
I agree with everything you said. I’ve never been a ruffle kind and of person. I do have some Buc-ee’s t shirts. I only wear them around the house. The newest ones I bought are cotton and soft and I really like them. Some of the ones from the year before don’t feel the same. I gave them to my family.

Thanks for this video. I totally 'get' your thoughts behind the advice. Of course, one can wear whatever they want and feel confident and comfortable, but some older ladies (me) battle to find the middle-ground. I am short, petite, but have a larger tummy so it is sometimes difficult to look both trendy and well -styled. I love all the advice and think it can be adapted to any shape (even though the models are younger & thinner). My latest love is the Buffet dress. They are comfortable and cool and look nice with flat shoes. Easy to make as well 🙂
@@maryclaremayo6157 Unbelievable to me that you think these look “trashy.” What about them looks “trashy”???? I’m 65 and don’t look “trashy” in any of my cold shoulder tops. Ffs!!!
I was shocked a couple of years ago (turned 51 just recently) when I went shopping for jeans. I am 5’6” and short waisted. I was a size 16 at the time and tried on button up high waisted jeans. They fit perfectly and were so comfortable. The stretch held everything in. I wish I could still wear them (size 8 now) but hopefully can come across some more soon.
I never liked the cold shoulder look….but did enjoy my capris immensely, but not wearing them now. Loved all your recommendations!! And just found you, will be subscribing! Thank you for an amazing video!!❤
The darker the jean the better. Leggings with a long tunic are soooo comfortable. Ruffles anywhere on a garment over the age of 30 is ridiculous but a gathered tiered skirt with a blouse is much better at any age.
Sorry, I will never get rid of my low-rise jeans. I love my belly being comfortable, especially after a big meal!! I wear long tops so no one can see it!!😂
I read Donna Karan’s memoir. She came up with the cold shoulder top, not honking it would go anywhere. But BarbaraStreisand liked and wore it on TV and, much to her surprise it took off. I never liked it and think it tacky
Donna Karan did not come up with cold shoulder tops. She reintroduced them. They go back a very long way. Most clothing trends are not new, just a reintroduction of something that was in style long ago. The Victorians loved ruffles. There points throughout the Victorian age where gown had ruffles, ruching, lace and cutouts all on the same gown. Fashion simply recycles.
Totally agree with you on the pants length. However, I'd like to give you some advice- 3 things; you need make up on your decolletage if you're going to wear an open necked shirt , a new haircut - not flattering and our of style, and some different frames - those black frames are too heavy for your little round face..
I never owned a cold shoulder top. They were never cute. They were tacky and ugly and did nothing to make arms and shoulders look attractive. I will be so glad when they are completely gone.
Nancy, I’m wearing my denim capri pants as I watch your video! Good thing I’m only 49😂 super fun video. I totally agree with you on the character t-shirts. I think they look sad on adult women. Great video. So much fun to hang out with you while I’m sewing.
I appreciate your insight, but I do tend to wear what makes me comfortable and happy. I think it's the confidence and joy in a person that is fashionable. I saw a woman in her 80s (I did ask her as I could tell she embraced her age) dancing with a flower in her hair and a Bohemian dress at Downtown Disney. She looked charming and beautiful because the best accessory was her smile and just enjoying the moment. I've been a title holder in CA (not expected and surreal experience) and met top actresses, actors and models - fashion really comes from within. Thanks for your wisdom and knowledge. I admit I am 57 and wear cold shoulder and ripped jeans but have gotten compliments. I'm sure eye rolls, too. C'est la vie! I will try some of your suggestions too. I do enjoy the Stevie Nick's vibe, though.
Colleen, your joyful approach to fashion is truly inspiring! It’s great how you embrace personal style, from cold-shoulder tops to ripped jeans. Keep rocking that Stevie Nicks vibe-it suits you perfectly. Thanks for sharing your perspective!😍
I have a couple of "Cold Shoulder" tops I need to get rid of. I haven't warn them for a very long time. I love the colors, and the cuts of the shirt, but honestly they have never been my favorite shirts, I feel naked with my shoulders showing, and I don't think they are that flattering. My biggest problem at the moment is what shoes to pair with what outfits. I don't wear hills much because I have a back and neck injury and hills irritate the situation, and I live in an up stairs apartment with slippery steps. I seriously need footwear help. LOL
Consider this a sign to get rid of those cold shoulder tops! As for the shoes, don't worry about heels because they aren't even in style! It's all about comfort, and there are many great options. Here's a video I did recently on shoes and boots for fall: ua-cam.com/video/hlkCM6gsUk4/v-deo.htmlsi=_Rui2U4BaKkQlVqa
A fun video. I like how you've explained the faux pas that wearing these items presents to the public. As well as not doing any favors for your figure! Thak you!
@@gusmonster59 Unfortunately, we are judged by the way we look (and dress). No matter what people say, unless you are blind, your first impression of a person is how they look. In public, if someone is unkempt, wearing torn clothing, poorly fitting clothing, etc others will find them to be somewhat suspicious and off-putting. We do not live in a perfect world...
I am happy I for dyou. I turned 60 this year and am not the stage where I am not interested in trends or in keeping up BUT I am interested in looking my best in the most comfortable way possible. I don't wear capris or ankle or pants bc I have swollen ankles. When I say I don't care about what people think about how I dress I mean I dress for myself and it really is just as easy to be pulled together than it is to just pull clothes on. My biggest problem is being plus sized and trying to chose something that isn't just flat out a ugly print because apparently if you are a size 14 or bigger, you are not allowed to were attractive clothes right off the rack in one store.
Maggie, it’s fantastic that you dress for comfort and your own style as you celebrate turning 60! It’s disappointing that stylish plus-size options are often limited. You deserve beautiful clothes that make you feel great. Keep dressing for yourself-that’s what truly matters!

I do not get the cold shoulder love. No holes premade in my clothes thx. Same for those stupid jeans. Lol i like low rise. They fit me better than most. And I don't get a muffin top. Mid-rise is nice but I refuse high rise. I am short waisted and these things come up to my armpits. I hate them. LOL I got rid of my velours in the 80s. No one needs calf length anything. I’m new to your channel and I love all your suggestions. I have a question. What is your view on wearing white after Labor Day? That’s an age old question I know! Also, I am 65 and I have a white Jean jacket and a white Jean vest. Is is appropriate for 65? If so, appropriate for fall? Thanks for your assistance. Great video!
Hi Debbie, Welcome! I'm so glad you discovered me! I do like to wear white year-round, but I think the most important thing is what you wear with it. I usually put away white shoes and white bags after Labor Day. If I'm wearing white jeans or, in your case, a jean jacket and vest, I pair them with darker pieces and accessories.🤩
@@shoppingonchampagne thank you for responding! I do the same thing. When I wear the jacket or vest I usually wear them with black. I was wondering if in the fashion world that it was considered appropriate. Thanks again! I will be subscribing!
I'm not parting with my 20 year old bands T's, my 20 year old Levi's that have natural frayed bottoms and knee rips, and at 5'11 with slim hips and no waist. So, no choice but low rise and it's less muffin top. Any tall woman knows you can't wear off the rack high rise bc crotch to narrow wait is not proportional. Yes I know I'm an outlier, but so are shorter, thicker women. So wear what looks good and feels comfortable on you. Again, most general styles, I agree, we age out of things like ruffle mini skirts.
I do wear low-rise jeans or or other trousers even with skirts. I prefer that for the reason that the high rise is not suiting my proportions. I'm 1.72. I'm an x shape, but my torso is quite short. If I wear high rise, I look like I'm just hip and legs, and I hate that as it looks very unproportunal. I do it for the only reason to make my torso appear longer. It takes a while, but you can find low rise, which does not give you a muffin top. At least, i can. Sometimes, I can get away with mid rise.
I agree with the ripped jeans, but in my 60s, live in Texas and love my cold shoulder tops. I also love my low waisted jeans. I'm short waisted and anything thats goes up higher than the low waisted sits right under my boobs which is uncomfortable. I do like your videos so I can tweak them a bit. While the cold shoulder may be out of style at the moment...I'll wear a light scarf that flows over my shoulders IF I feel like it. I had to come back and add...Those short pants ladies are wearing at their ankles...I just can't. Back in the day they were called high waters and I still think of Urkle everytime I see them. So I guess its whatever that makes us feel good with confidence. I think if you're wearing confidence...you can pull off just about anything.
Hi Donna! Thanks so much for sharing what works for you and how you have adapted your clothes to current trends. You're absolutely right about wearing what makes you feel comfortable and confident, too. 💕
Urkel - hahahahaha, that's a PERFECT description. I have no problem with capris ending at the widest part of the calf. It does NOT make my legs look thick since I obviously don't have cankles! I think that length highlights the shape of the lower leg.
While I try to include a wide variety of price points in my video, Yes, those pants are pricey, but they are so gorgeous! You might want to look at my free complete shopping guide, organized by personal style and price point. Enjoy: shopping-on-champagne.ck.page/7f19d89fa7
Oh my goodness I hated the cold shoulder top the moment it came out and I refused to buy them. I think they look stupid, so I’m glad everybody needs to give them up.
I could never wear low rise because of a bubble butt even when I had a teeny tiny waist unless I wanted the plumber crack. I think only a few people on the planet could actually pull off the look.
I disagree with her. Cold shoulder tops can look nice depending on the top and how you pair it. One look does not necessarily “ one look for all” I wear one once on awhile and I get compliments. Same with Capris…. Some over 50 look great in them. Body type is more of a marker than age in some clothing items.
What is comfortable for one person can be extremely uncomfortable for others. And sometimes people can look fabulous in something that others might not think they should be wearing because of their age. I don’t really care what people think I should wear, if it’s uncomfortable or I don’t like it, I’m not going to wear it anyway! I’ve donated too many pieces that someone else really thought looked good on me. I would get talked into buying them. But every time I’d go to WEAR them, I’d end up putting them back in the closet.
I appreciated your points. I have seen these points made by other YT stylists. I agree with the many comments saying you need to have photos of women in the age bracket you’re speaking to. And just a personal perspective - I don’t think your outfit in this video is well colour coordinated. The shirt and the vest clash, in my opinion. Otherwise, you are a good presenter and easy to listen to. 😎
I have fat legs and cannot wear shorts. When the temperature is over 80 degrees, even ankle pants are too hot. I will never give up my black Tek-gear capris with a solid t and sneakers for running errands, food shopping and waking the dog on a hot day.
I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing as I have nothing to get rid of as I have never purchased any of these trends. Does that mean I have never been trendy or maybe it means I’m almost 80! Haha! 😊

lol- I agree...at 5'4"...all I see are "flood pants" when I try on ankle length pants. 😄
I am 5'6 and HATE ankle pants! I think they make everyone look like they bought a cheap brand that skimped on material or are a hand-me-down. Cheap, cheap, cheap looking and I have yet to see them look flattering on anyone (model or not). I can just see several years from now all the stylist saying to stop wearing them because they cut the leg off (they do), look like flood pants (because they do), and are not flattering (because they are not).
I agree about the capris.. I am 5'4, and I feel they make me look shorter or have on high waters from my 70s -80s childhood 😂😂
I’ll still keep a few capri pants. At 5’9”, I think they look good (same will midi skirts/dresses)!
Luckily for you who are tall, you look good in those, and just about everything. I'm petite with short legs. Color me jealous. I'm happy for you
I'm tall too.. love a mini skirt.
My style is comfortable and tshirts fit that perfectly. I have many tshirts with logos and I love them. Maybe I will eventually wear just plain tops but for now ,I’m not ready to give up my goofy tshirts.
I'm glad to hear you're doing what makes you happy! 😊

@@shoppingonchampagne thanks,I’ll think on that and let you know.
I totally agree. I hate cold shoulder tops.
I love velour tracksuits. I had a black one with a dragon printed on the back for winter, years ago.
Ha, I just bought the tracksuit from 32° last year because they looked warm and comfy, and we were driving south and the winter to get to Florida. I thought it would be great to ride in the car while we were in the cold north still. Not even a year old yet so they will be worn for a long time. I guess I’ll just not look very trendy, I’m OK with that
Excellent video with great examples. Many thanks.
My pleasure! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! 😍
Good ideas to keep us fresh and modern. Thanks
My pleasure, Jeanne! 🥰
I agree with everything you said. I’ve never been a ruffle kind and of person. I do have some Buc-ee’s t shirts. I only wear them around the house. The newest ones I bought are cotton and soft and I really like them. Some of the ones from the year before don’t feel the same. I gave them to my family.
I love high rise! I'm a petite hourglass

I'm 5'4 and mid-rise pants accentuate my meno-pot b/c the waist sits at my fullest point. High-rise flatters (unless the style was intended for 5'11+ women and they fit me like empire waist pants!😆)
Well I pray my heavenly father doesn’t turn me away from the pearly gates because of my earthly fashion. Personally I wouldn’t wear what you have on but to each his/ her own.
Yes I agree. No stand up collars. Looks like it doesn't fit well.
Almost made it to the end but the way the collar on this host is just too funny
I really like and agree with your recommendations.
Thanks so much! 💕
Easy to make as well 🙂
Capri pants are still good on hot days.
The "cold-shoulder" top should never have been designed. It looks ridiculous on everyone, no matter what age, but especially bad on anyone over 18.
I agree with you!
Agreeing with you.
Oh my gosh, yes. So stupid looking.
For some reason they always make the wearer look trashy even though nothing much is being exposed.
Congrats on your weight loss! You should still be able to find many high-rise to mid-rise options in your new size that are just as comfortable. 😍
I never liked the cold shoulder look….but did enjoy my capris immensely, but not wearing them now. Loved all your recommendations!! And just found you, will be subscribing! Thank you for an amazing video!!❤

I'm 5' tall and i buy ankle and crop pants all the time because they are full length on me. I don't have to hem them!
Smart move! 😀
The darker the jean the better. Leggings with a long tunic are soooo comfortable. Ruffles anywhere on a garment over the age of 30 is ridiculous but a gathered tiered skirt with a blouse is much better at any age.
Distressed jeans and low rise jeans have never looked good!
Maybe if you are 14 years old, 5'9" and 120 lbs!!
Great ideas. Thank you Nancy❤
Sorry, I will never get rid of my low-rise jeans. I love my belly being comfortable, especially after a big meal!! I wear long tops so no one can see it!!😂
Exactly! Some of those high pants actually squeeze my bottom ribs. I can't stand them!
I never bought distressed jeans nor a gold shoulder top I thioughtbthey were both just a passingvtrend
Yes Barbra sure loves her cold shoulder black tops.
So, no I feel like I’ve been tacky for two years. Guess what, nothing really matters in the end.
Agree with everything - almost: the flower- and abstract-patterned blouses look rather dowdy.
Agreed! Especially when older (I'm 63), women with the flowy, floral tops with the wide scooped necks and flowy sleeves. They are very aging.
Thanks so much for your feedback! 😀
@@RickyB-u4s I don't like them either.
Totally agree with you on the pants length. However, I'd like to give you some advice- 3 things; you need make up on your decolletage if you're going to wear an open necked shirt , a new haircut - not flattering and our of style, and some different frames - those black frames are too heavy for your little round face..
I disagree. Her hair and glasses are cute
@@judytulsa maybe if you’re 80.
You are very classy! Thank you.
Wow! Thank you so much, Nicki! 😍
I never owned a cold shoulder top. They were never cute. They were tacky and ugly and did nothing to make arms and shoulders look attractive. I will be so glad when they are completely gone.
You can always find them in charity shops.😊
They look cute on my 19 year old. 😂

@@shoppingonchampagne oh, and comfortable jeans I stole from my sons closet, because after 50, we can wear whatever we want!!
@@ForEverKath LOL, I love it! 🤩
I like capris since I won’t wear shorts
I'm happy to say that being over 70, I have none of those items in my closet! Thank you for reminding me.
Thak you!
Presenting as a faux pas to the public? I'm not sure the public, in general, cares about what someone is wearing.
@@gusmonster59I agree!
Love your videos Nancy.
As always, thanks for your kind words, Kimberly! 😍
I will never give up my band T-shirts ever!
I love KISS and AC/DC!
Wear them with your leather jacket!!! and leather jeans.
@@gingrr666 leather jacket yes leather jeans, not gonna happen not in Texas and not during menopause. I would end up looking like Ross on friends when he were the leather pants.
Good tips however I love my Scooby Do limited edition
Converse and at 60 I rock them proudly. I have the majority of the pieces you recommended but I rock them my own way. Please use models that are over 50 and represent women who are not a size 2 and tall.
I never wanted the cold shoulder top to go out of style. In the summer, it was cool and covered arms that we didn't want to expose. Sad, sad.
Fortunately I have never been a ruffle fan.
happy to say I didn't buy into any of these. would love to know where the last 3 shirts you showed are found. the wrap type ones. thank you!
Yes
I know I'm an outlier, but so are shorter, thicker women.
How and what type of boots do you wear with crops?
Great to see examples of the 'go to' looks.
I just bought 6 track suits. I love them in winter.
I hated the ‘cold shoulder’ tops. I bought one and wore it once. Hated it!
Thank you for your advice and could you please talk about the plus size
Yes! I'll add it to my video to-do list! 😀
Yes, the cold shoulder top is so over LOL no matter what one's age
Would you say the shirt and vest you are wearing would be appropriate for someone over 50?
Love the ideas you share. I about died at the $790 pants though 😮😮😮

Oh my goodness I hated the cold shoulder top the moment it came out and I refused to buy them. I think they look stupid, so I’m glad everybody needs to give them up.
Ankle length pants have to go. Looks like they shrunk. Not flattering
When I was a kid, we called them floods. 😅
Yes, they just look like they're too short!
I totally agree. I don’t understand why everyone thinks they look so good.
I never could stand low rise jeans. Gaaaaak! Muffin tops everywhere!
I believe a nice tasteful graphic t shirt would be a good option to replace the childish logo t shirt
Especially if u want a fun/casual look ...style it with a blazer and jeans and u get a very modern look
I’m 54 and I’m still wearing my Pearl Jam and Nirvana T-shirts
Life Is Good t-shirts are comfy and cute without being childish looking.
Like that handbag on the shelf in back of you. What brand? Do you know?

I have fat legs and cannot wear shorts. When the temperature is over 80 degrees, even ankle pants are too hot. I will never give up my black Tek-gear capris with a solid t and sneakers for running errands, food shopping and waking the dog on a hot day.
Capris makes your legs look shorter and fatter. Lol.
I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing as I have nothing to get rid of as I have never purchased any of these trends. Does that mean I have never been trendy or maybe it means I’m almost 80! Haha! 😊
